For anyone else who's a true, mutli-music lover and purveyor of phenomenal musical experimentation and gifted musical engineering, you've no doubt heard of Alan Parsons, the creator of the Alan Parson's Project and musical engineer behind many popular artists. He is a modern day Master when it comes to blending sound, technique, theory, period piece music, interpretation, and every instrument and style known to mankind. The vocalists he chooses for his voiced pieces are great, too.
The classical harpsichords, flutes, horns, classical and electric guitars, harps, strings and the rest of the orchestral catalog in Minor come together in this extraordinary title track, "Turn of a Friendly Card." I believe even my fellow classical music mate
can (unless he's being ornery) appreciate the pristene, classical, Cathedral flavor in this first piece. I think
might enjoy it, too. I'm posting Parts 1 & 2 first and then the album for anyone who'd like to check them out. The lyrics are some of my favorites - note the sounds between Parts 1 & 2 and it'll give you a clue to what the song is about if the lyrics seem vague at first.
His interpretations of Edgar Allan Poe's work are amazing as well for anyone who'd like to google them or just click them at the end of this piece.
For the album and more, it won't embed so you have to click the link:

THE ALAN PARSONS PROJECT
"The Turn Of A Friendly Card"
Part 1
There are unsmiling faces and bright plastic chains
And a wheel in perpetual motion
And they follow the races and pay out the gains
With no show of an outward emotion
And they think it will make their lives easier
For God knows up till now it's been hard
But the game never ends when your whole world depends
On the turn of a friendly card
No the game never ends when your whole world depends
On the turn of a friendly card
There's a sign in the desert that lies to the west
Where you can't tell the night from the sunrise
And not all the king's horses and all the king's men
Have prevented the fall of the unwise
And they think it will make their lives easier
For God knows up till now it's been hard
But the game never ends when your whole world depends
On the turn of a friendly card
No the game never ends when your whole world depends
On the turn of a friendly card
But a pilgrim must follow in search of a shrine
As he enters inside the cathedral...
Part 2
There are unsmiling faces in fetters and chains
On a wheel in perpetual motion
Who belong to all races and answer all names
With no show of an outward emotion
And they think it will make their lives easier
But the doorway before them is barred
And the game never ends when your whole world depends
On the turn of a friendly card
No the game never ends when your whole world depends
On the turn of a friendly card
