A woman found dead at a house in Cambridgeshire had been beheaded, the BBC understands.

The body of the woman, named as 39-year-old scientist Samantha Ho, was found at the house in Curlew Place, St Neots, on Saturday. Witnesses said her head and body were found separately.

A post-mortem examination concluded she died from "multiple cuts to the neck".

Timothy Allen, 40, from Curlew Place, has been charged with murder and appeared before magistrates earlier.

The woman was found after armed officers, called by the ambulance service, forced entry to the house.

Mr Allen was arrested on suspicion of murder and was initially taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital with what police described as a serious but not life-threatening injury.

I wonder who called the ambulance?

A dog was also killed in the incident, it has emerged.

A man who beheaded his wife at their home has been detained indefinitely under the Mental Health Act.

Her head and torso were discovered separately. A post-mortem examination found she died from cuts to her neck.

Her husband, Timothy Allen, 40, of Curlew Place, admitted manslaughter by diminished responsibility last month. He appeared at Southwark Crown Court.

Police were initially called to the house by the ambulance service after a report of concern for a man at the property.

Armed officers forced entry to the house, where Ms Ho's body was found.

Allen was arrested on suspicion of murder and taken to hospital with what police described as a serious but not life-threatening injury.

Allen was detained indefinitely under section 37 of the Mental Health Act 1983, meaning he will be kept in a secure hospital facility rather than a prison.

He apparently told police that the people on X Factor were threatening to come thru the tv and take his wife from him.

The investigation says that the couple was very loving and a wonderful family until a motorcycle accident left him delusional and paranoid.

She is the one who called the emergency number, he originally had cut his own neck. In the time it took police to respond, he had killed her and cut off her head and was in the midst of killing the dog.
