Found Joseph Tsang, 31, Convicted Child Sex Abuser On The Run

A convicted child sex abuser has gone on the run after failing to turn up to court for a new trial.

Joseph Tsang was found guilty in his absence of fresh offences after a six-day trial at Oxford Crown Court.

The 31-year-old, from Oxford, was convicted of two counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault. The offences took place in Hampshire.

Police believe the Chinese national may have fled to Hong Kong, where he has family ties.

Found in Hong Kong, extradited back to the UK and sentenced to 15 years.

Joseph Tsang, 32, from Oxford, fled to Hong Kong before his trial and was convicted in August last year at Oxford Crown Court of two counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault.

He did not begin his sentence until February when he returned to the UK.

Lawyers argued the Chinese national's sentence was too tough, but it has been upheld at London's Appeal Court.

"We are satisfied that the sentence of 15 years properly reflects Tsang's sexual criminality in respect of these two vulnerable girls," Mr Justice Jeremy Baker concluded.
