Detectives are searching for the tenant of a missing man from Swansea.

South Wales Police are "concerned over the well-being" of Alec Warburton, 59, who has not been seen since 31 July.

Officers have been searching in and around his home in Vivian Road and a police tent was erected on the street on Thursday.

Police are searching for Mr Warburton's tenant, David Craig Ellis, who they think may have information about his disappearance.

Police are also trying to locate Mr Warburton's green Peugeot 205, which CCTV inquiries have confirmed was being used until 2 August.

A murder investigation is continuing following the disappearance of a Swansea landlord.

Police are also trying to locate his green Peugeot 205.

A CCTV image of the car, registration M805 HFJ, has been released by officers in the hope somebody will recall seeing it.

Det Supt Hurley said: "This car was driven to north Wales on Saturday 1 August and we want to hear from anyone who may have seen it or David Ellis at any time between 2pm and midnight that day between Caersws and Betws-y-Coed.

"The car was returned to Swansea during the following morning. We know it was used in the Swansea area until 4 August and it has not been located since."

In a direct appeal to the tenant, he added: "We want to find out what has happened to Alec Warburton. I believe that you have valuable information which will help us in our inquiries."

In a news conference, officers leading the investigation said CCTV footage showed the missing man shopping in Swansea city centre on 30 July, the day before he disappeared.

Officers have been searching in and around his home at Vivian Road in Sketty, where Mr Ellis also lived.

Mr Warburton's car was seen being driven in Betws-y-Coed in Snowdonia on Saturday, 1 August, and then later back in Swansea.

"Betws-y-Coed is a particularly busy tourist area at this time of year, so I would urge anyone who may have visited or travelled through the area over the weekend of 1 and 2 August to think back to that weekend to recall whether they saw this car or David Ellis in the area," said Det Supt Paul Hurley.

Police investigating the murder of Alec Warburton from Swansea have said the man they want to speak to in connection with his disappearance has travelled to Northern Ireland.

Mr Warburton's Peugeot 205 was found at Birkenhead ferry port, near Liverpool.

Police had previously appealed for his lodger David Ellis, 40, to get in touch and now have CCTV footage of him boarding a ferry to Belfast.

Det Supt Paul Hurley of South Wales Police said: [...]

"Mr Ellis's whereabouts in Ireland are unknown. He may have friends, associates or family in Ireland offering him accommodation. We appeal to anyone who has seen him to come forward.

"I appeal to anyone who has seen Mr Warburton or Mr Ellis to contact the police. I appeal directly to Mr Ellis to come forward as I believe that you hold the information we need to establish the circumstances of Alec Warburton's disappearance."

Could this be Mr Warburton, I wonder?

A man's body has been found on Aberavon Beach in Swansea Bay.

[doublepost=1466961814,1440184273][/doublepost]Clearly someone else's body, the one found on that beach almost a year ago......

A tenant who bludgeoned his landlord to death in Swansea and dumped his body 140 miles away has been convicted of murder.

Alec Warburton, 59, was hit in the back of the head with a hammer by David Craig Ellis at his Sketty home in July.

His body was found in a disused quarry in Dolwyddelan, Conwy county, in September.

Ellis, 41, was found guilty at Swansea Crown Court on Wednesday and will be sentenced on Thursday.

He had already admitted killing his landlord, but claimed it was following sexual advances from Mr Warburton.

Consultant forensic Home Office pathologist Dr Brian Rodgers told the trial Mr Warburton had three major skull defects, but there was no sign of any defensive injuries.

"I was of the view that these injuries were caused by the head of a hammer," he said.
