A West Virginia man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for the death of his 3-year-old son who prosecutors said was “the most abused child we’ve ever seen.”

In 2012, 22-year-old James N. Mauldin abused his 3-year-old son, Kaiwon Connelley, so bad that the boy passed away on New Year’s Day.

In March of this year, Mauldin was convicted of a plethora of charges, including death of a child by parent by child abuse, child abuse causing serious bodily injury, malicious assault, presentation of false information regarding a child’s injuries, and two counts of gross child neglect creating risk of serious bodily injury.

Last week, Mauldin was sentenced to 40 years in prison.

This was a 3-year-old child that had no one to turn to,” Berkley County Prosecutor Pamela Games-Neely said in court. “He suffered a horrific death.”

Mauldin is accused of causing a fractured skull, brain bleeds, and severe burns.

“He was the most abused child we’ve ever seen in the system,” said Games-Nelly, who has worked as the county prosecutor since 1993. “This is the most malicious thing I’ve seen in a long time.”

Jesus fucking christ. This is one town away from me. WTF! Unrelated, but, I found out a couple days ago that a lady my mom worked for over the summer and her husband were arrested for producing child porn. I don't know how to post a story, but, I feel so sick to my stomach because I felt sorry for the woman, and made her the bouquets for her and her bridesmaids. I spent $60 and 3hrs doing this for someone I had never met, because she gave a sob story to my mom about how she couldn't afford flowers. I feel gross now, knowing what she did
You thought you were doing something nice for someone. You DID do something nice but just for someone who didn't deserve your kindness. Please don't kick yourself - you had no way of knowing.

How about 40 years sitting on a hot pan. I so wish he could be treated with the same care he bestowed on his son.
