I wish I could. Its a pay site. So when I clicked on it to see what you meant it showed me a link to enter a credit card number.

I have no dog in this fight. I never called op a liar or said they personally made it up. I was asking if maybe the story was made up.
I did call the op a liar on some of her specific comments but I don't think I accused her of making up the story. just making up HER story
You can read about the crime in the newspaper at the following link. Scroll to the bottom for the OCR text and you can find it in that section. If you still think the OP made it up, then I don't know what to say.

It is not actually surprising that a crime that took place in the 80s might not have a huge amount of original news stories on-line......
you can track down almost anyone/anything online. I can tell you more about bela kiss from a century ago (random example) right down to the brand of oil drums he used and he was never found/questioned. very easy to check high school year books, obits, burial services et al.

On your first post on this thread.
I asked the op a direct question

how and why should i have come to the conclusions I did until asking the questions etc., and why should I automatically barf out anything to soothe the sandy vaginal crevices that chafed?

rhetorical question

It's not quite that easy I'm afraid. Some libraries have put their microfilms online, but not all. Microfilms are by far the best way to look into anything predating 1990. In the 80's local news stayed local, it wasn't lambasted across the entire world like things are today. Sadly not all murders got the attention that would be given today.

The example you give is known because it's scandalous and unique, the kind of thing that will travel centuries. In old cases, it's far more common to be able to find information on a murderer than a murder victim. If a victim is known, it's usually because of the unusually heinous acts committed against them. As bad as this sounds, this murder is only average at best. No potential killer identified, no extreme acts committed against her, she was not famous. It's fairly forgettable in the terms of history.

Only recently have news agencies started keeping online articles up indefinitely. There's a period extending right up until very recently, that news would publish an online article and after so many months it would go to their archives. Not all news agencies kept those archives for longer than a year or two. Quite a few posts on this site have articles that can no longer be found because of this.

Sudonim has already said most of what I would have and more in answer to this.

There are a lot of historical stories that are well covered and researched with all the information available online, but unless you were a victim of Jack The Ripper, as a victim of an unsolved murder there just is not going to be much interest from anyone outside the immediate family, sad as it may seem. And of course with the case not yet completely abandoned by LE, they will not have released whatever records they have for the internet sleuths to pore over, either.

Agreed, try finding anything regarding "The Zachary Massacre" from louisiana. I'd kill to find more on it.

as I have said'; anyone who comes up with factual info on this case GREAT. if me being a dick on a website somehow produces more info; WONDERFUL.

==============

see; here's someone with something. thank you for your effort!
middle name is different but...hey...it's something besides jabbing me for being curious.

abroad e said'; anyone who comes up with factual info on this case GREAT. if me being a dick on a website somehow produces more info; WONDERFUL.

Why would I start a thread on something I literally just said is that difficult to find online? Besides, I don't need you to debunk anything for me. I was simply agreeing with Abroad that crimes from that era ARE difficult to locate online.

did you miss the sarcasm noted?
and you might start a thread because someone else may find something you missed. maybe you do need me to debunk it for you...would you rather it stay bunked = more sarcasm

I think that I love you for this post. And 1990 is a bit optimistic...I usually count on 1996 as the year when newspapers started indexing articles electronically. Anything earlier than that makes me point library patrons to the microfilm. There are exceptions--the Trenton Times is available electronically back to the late 1800's. But you'll only find that kind of exception when some kind of funding enabled the labor intensive effort of scanning each day's print newspaper in its entirety.

Maybe this is of some interest : in 1987, Larry Welz issued his 5th "Cherry comics", an erotic/porno comic book. We find this to be the last page but one :

I just discovered this and was intrigued who she was... and i found this website.

What an interesting piece to add to this puzzle! And I'm a fan of Mr. Welz.

What the HELL is wrong with all of you? How much more disrespectful can you be? My husband and I both worked with Sandy and while we weren't close friends, we were friendly acquaintances and attended some of the same parties and events. My husband was a pharmacist at Long's Drugs then and Sandy frequently filled in when the help was needed in the pharmacy. We were devastated when we heard of her death and the circumstances around it. I cannot imagine what it was like for her mother to hear her dying daughter's screams.
I wish that instead of attacking each other on this forum, we could all work towards getting the Sonoma County Sheriff's dept. and/or Sebastopol PD to step up the search for her killer. SOMEONE knows who killed Sandy, and he has gotten away with it for almost 30 years...

Wtf? Really?

So do you think she was made up? Cause I also couldn't find anything anywhere about this crime beyond the moms writings. And this was a pretty sensational sounding crime so I'm really shocked by the lack of any proof of it happening. I mean it was the 1980's and I could not find one single photo of her. She's not on find a grave. Nothing

Made up?? No, it is NOT made up. My husband and I both worked with Sandy at Long's Drugs on Stony Point Rd. in Santa Rosa. She lived in a small cottage not far from our house.

This whole thread is really disturbing....from those of you attacking each other to questions about whether or not Sandy Patton even existed.
I read on another website that the OP on this website said she did not have a boyfriend at the time...that may be correct, but a boyfriend or former boyfriend was suspected of her murder at one time. Would be interesting for his DNA to be tested against the DNA found at the scene.

WOW, this has to be her. Good find.

Thank you for telling us about your acquaintance with Miss Patton.

Can you tell us anything more about her? Or about the rumours in the community around the time of her murder? As you can see we have had some difficulty actually finding information about her case on-line......

Christine. Thank you so much. I had not checked this thread for a long time. It seemed that when someone started to question me and cast doubt on my motivation, then morphed into speculation that i made her up, I decided my time could be spent better just focusing on the case. There has been some new information. Please feel free to contact me.

the beginning of what? when I was asking a specific person specific questions or when the picking at my questions and how they were presented began?
as I said a few times through this thread=anyone could ask me anything. mostly folks hemmed and hawed and actied like I was out of line for making a "call out" on the validity of, at the very least, the op's info in her original post.

and just to wind up on a cunty note; I don't go to your work and knock the dicks outa your mouth-do I? no

so don't slap the dicks outa mine=i'll spit them out when im ready to

Gross.

to whom it may concern=
this is indeed a interesting story with details repeated often and with zeal.

all my podunking on the subject stands. give me one good piece of intel that I havnt already heard-that,s all im asking.

a young woman being ravaged and killed is terrible. people making up a story about that happening is strange, pathological and downright intriguing.

anybody?
