HOUSTON – New details were revealed Thursday in the case of a 26-year-old man accused of killing his parents in their southwest Houston home.
Kenneth Ballinas was not present for his very first court hearing but a prosecutor went ahead and revealed new information about how he allegedly killed his mother and father while they were in bed.
The prosecutor in probable cause court said Ballinas told police his parents, 50-year-old Eva Ballinas and 55-year-old Oscar Ballinas, were quote "evil people who needed to die."
The son would reportedly get angry when his parents told him to help around the house on Tidewater Drive.
Detectives with the Houston Police Department say they believe Ballinas had been contemplating the killings all night. They said he eventually went to his brother's room, took a shotgun from the closet and took it back to his room to practice loading and unloading.
Then prosecutors say he paced the hallway wondering if he should shoot his parents or not.
Ballinas told police he felt something was telling him he should do it. He said he closed the doors to his brother's room and then closed the door to his brother's kids' room.
He then walked into his parents' room and shot his father once in the head and shot his mother twice in the head.
Ballinas reportedly told police he got nervous after shooting his parents in their bed and called 911 and confessed to everything.
Ballinas is being held without bond and is set to appear in front of a judge Friday.
