Reality Bites
Hi all. Stumbled across this place a few times lately. This time I joined.

I have military, LE, and custodial work history although no real investigative qualifications. Still, I'm fascinated with crime and prevention, and most of my reading will go there. I regularly engage with "pro-gun" advocates on the interwebs. I don't expect to change peoples views, just to ensure that rationality doesn't get drowned out completely.

I notice there are sections of the forum not accessible to me. I've been around a few forums and I understand there are unique rules on most. I've read and searched a bit , but I can't seem to find an explanation of who has what posting rights?

Thanks for the forum.

See how it says bold member under my user name? I paid to the site for that, and can access places you can't.

Its only $20. If you enjoy the site its worth it.

And welcome.

Welcome!!

The only sections you can't visit are the "bold" sections. You can read about going Bold and learn what that grants you here: GO BOLD!

Glad you found us and enjoy your cookies.

Greetings!

In order to visit and comment in some sections of the forums, you need to be Bold, which is just a $20-a-year premium membership. It's totally worth it here, and I'm not one who has ever paid for web content before.

And I love my guns. Sorry that you don't, but it's cool. Forums would suck if we all had the same opinions.

Thank you all for the replies. And the cookies ... I love cookies.

Trophies? ... Meh

I've never paid for web content before. This will probably change.

Having no ads seems like a good incentive.

Sounds like I just found my new internet bestie. Military, LE, guns?
<3 Nice to meet u Podar!

Agreed. Groupthinks aren't a lot of fun.

I don't dislike guns. I recognize them as what they are. I'm a realist.
I just dislike that the attitude of "its my right" often outweighs any rational discourse on the real issue; public liability and responsibility.
I dislike the common misperception that citizens having easy access to guns makes a society safer.
Probably a thread around here .. I'll see what I can find.

Maybe we should get to know each other a little, eh?

I might surprise you.

Interesting quote in your sig. I worked in immigration detention for a while but it was an interdepartmental transfer and not my choice. Don't regret the experience, but yeah there were plenty of dicks. Every prison guard I've met was an arsehole, and I've never been in a prison.

Ok, we can still be besties, I'll give a u hall pass, just this once. I am not an arsehole, I am a perfectly sweet wonderfully delightful :)sarcastic woman. But yes, I am a prison guard. (If other members tell u different, they're lying, I swear, just between u and me :p) And a veteran.
So immigration detention, u must be from the SW (random stab in the dark)?
Welcome to the Demon. And I forgive ur asshole comment and will wait to include u in my sig line. ;). (There r a few here who don't like going to jail, or the folks they meet there, shhhhh)

:D

Well I was wrong about something one other time that I recall, so I'm open to that possibility. You don't seem like an arsehole, but I'm going to put it in the schadenfreude folder for now. Because words on the internet are written in stone, or so I'm often led to believe.

I think this is where I declare my non Merkin status.

IANAA. (I Am Not An American)

Newb question.

How do you do the 'funny' and 'show the love' thingies?
Those options aren't in the bar at the bottom of the post.

Hi there, and welcome!

I'm not American either, so I'm afraid I won't be joining any gun control debates, but there are plenty of topics to talk about around here.

I got you a welcome present, I hope you like fish!

His name is Twinkle, and he he feeds on the souls of the tortured! That sounds like a highly specialised diet, but you can get them at any Walmart. You can keep him with other fish, for a short time anyway. Just don't get your face too close to the glass, because he can chew through it when riled, and can breathe for a surprisingly long time without water. Long enough to crawl up the stairs to your bedroom at night! He's a silly billy.

@Forensicwx is an absolute sweetheart, by the by, one of my besties... so go careful! Twinkle has an attack command ;) But I'm sure we won't need to use that!

Enjoy the den :joyful:

Sounds like a good plan.

Cool! I love seafood.

He'll go hungry here then. I think there is a Walmart , but AFAIK it's 1000 km away.

And being Australia, souls are quite hard to come by.

Thanks for the welcome. And the warning!

niiiiiice Twinkle, gooooood boy. I was just playin' with the nice lady ...

Yeah! you finally made it, so sit back and hold on, it's going to be a helluva ride!

Thanks for all the welcomes. And that other stuff.

Just to add to the OP, the work history I mentioned is history. I'm a civilian now and maybe even a little anti establishment.
Definite anarchistic tendencies and a real hate for thuggery mixed with a passion for self defense makes for some interesting internal conflicts.
I think that's why this forum had such an attraction. I can see people acting out all the different emotions I'm feeling (and some I'd never, ever freaking conceive!) and its funny.
And it smells nice here with all the ladies and the perfumes and their flowery avatars. Reminds me of grandmas place.

Well, I guess I shouldn't say Welcome because you've already been here for awhile, and I'm late in finding this. So...hello?

Please forgive my brevity but I am currently recovering from an ass-banging by @Athena and not in the best of moods. However, that doesn't affect the quality of my cookies, so enjoy my tardy delivery.

Be seein' ya around...

Hi!
May I just say my welcome has gone to hell since the waving smiley left. Not my fault, this is all I got left to work with.
If you sit on the couch, bring a snack. I've been stuck here for a while, and didn't plan ahead, so I survived eating the crotch crickets Morbid left behind. They're not very good.
