Final Roll Call 4153. STLCO 10-42 10/13 @ 1519
"An Augusta mother is facing charges after doctors found her 6-month-old child with new and old signs of abuse.
Jamie Lynn Morgan, 23, called an ambulance to her Forster Street home about noon Tuesday, saying her 2-year-old son hurt her infant daughter.
According to a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office report, Morgan told doctors that she left her son alone with her daughter while she used the bathroom, then returned to find her son had jumped on the baby, hitting her in the head with his knee.
Doctors at Georgia Regents Medical Center notified police when the injuries did not match Morgan’s story.
Doctors said the baby, who had been born prematurely, appeared to have been “beaten and shaken vigorously” and was suffering from shaken baby syndrome.
The baby suffered three separate brain hemorrhages. She also appeared to have an older brain bleed that was healing.
Morgan, who has three children ranging from an infant to a 6-year-old, was booked into the Richmond County jail Tuesday on a charge of child abuse in the first degree..."
