Scotland Yard is investigating bombshell claims that boys abused by men in a powerful pedophile ring during the 1970s and 80s were murdered.

“I watched while that happened,” the unidentified man told the Sunday People. “I am not sure how I got out of that. Whether I will ever know why I survived, I am not sure.”

Friday said it was investigating a “possible homicide” along with the other claims about the notorious sex ring.

“Over the past month, detectives working on Operation Fairbank within the Met’s Specialist Crime and Operations have been made aware of allegations concerning serious non-recent sexual abuse, said to have occurred over 30 years ago,”

I suppose the 10 year-old might have been interpreted as a traffic accident; but I am having a hard time accepting that a 12-year-old can be killed and the body disappeared without anybody missing that child.

I should say I am sure the person who reported this thinks he is telling the truth, but I remember the incredible messes created by the Satanic Panic in the eighties and early nineties, and I worry......

Missing boy’s brother claims he was threatened by police when he told them he believed they covered up disappearance
  • Kevin Allen’s 15-year-old brother Martin disappeared in November 1979
  • Mr Allen claims when he said he suspected a top level cover-up over the disappearance he was told ‘stop talking like that, you might get hurt'
  • Now believes files have been destroyed or lost to avoid solving the mystery
  • Martin’s disappearance has been linked to the notorious Elm Guest House

Martin Allen (pictured) was abducted thirty years ago in London and has not been seen since. He disappeared on his way home from school on Guy Fawkes Night in 1979 - his brother claims he was threatened by police

The family of a missing boy have been told by police that he may have been abducted, abused and murdered by a paedophile ring of leading establishment figures.

...

His brother Kevin, 51, has said he was called by Detective Chief Inspector Diane Tudway of the Metropolitan Police on Friday, who told him she was investigating whether Martin’s disappearance is linked to an alleged ring made up of MPs and senior figures of authority.

...

A man only known as Nick, who is in his 40s, claims he was raped by a former Conservative MP and alleges that he saw three boys being murdered. He said one was deliberately run over, a second was strangled by a Conservative MP and the third was killed in front of a government minister. All of the boys were aged between 10 and 14, Nick said.

He had said: “We were asked if we wanted a drink. It was always whisky. Both MPs were brutal. I was raped over a bath-tub while my head was beneath the water.”

The case of Martin Allen’s disappearance was closed in the 1980s, but reopened in 2009 and shut again last year. Mr Allen and his brother, Jeffrey, 61, said that police claimed in 2009 that files has been destroyed by a flood.

“We had to give evidence over again to the police,” Mr Allen said. “But then later, when the case was still open, the two detectives on it told us that a retired police officer had withdrawn the files and gone to Spain.

“They said they had tried to get a warrant to question the officer but couldn’t get it from the Spanish authorities. You don’t know what to believe.”

Jeffrey Allen said the detective who led the case in 1979 had told his family that there were “high-up people involved” and that they should stop talking and “not take it further because someone will get hurt”.

....

Last week Vishambar Mehrotra, an ex-magistrate and father of Vishal, eight, who was murdered in 1981, said he was called by a male prostitute who claimed that the boy had been taken to the guest house to be abused.

Mr Mehrotra said he had given police a tape recording of the phone call soon after the conversation in 1981 but officers refused to investigate.

In another development, Yard detectives have told the family of a missing boy that he may be one of three children allegedly murdered by prominent VIPs.
Martin Allen, son of the Australian high commissioner’s chauffeur, went missing in 1979, aged 15 .

http://www.standard.co.uk/news/crim...-of-dead--boy-linked-to-vip-ring-9884495.html

The detective who led the investigation into Britain's most notorious child abusers has claimed there could be another 17 unsolved murders at the hands of the brutal gang.

Former Scotland Yard detective Roger Stoodley also believes investigation files relating to the group - which abducted, abused and murdered children during the 1980s - could contain vital evidence about a VIP paedophile ring which allegedly abused boys at a London guest house.

Under Operation Orchid, Mr Stoodley helped expose the murders of three children by a gang of paedophiles, of which fairground worker Sidney Cooke was one of the ringleaders.
The victims were Jason Swift, 14, six-year-old Barry Lewis and Mark Tildesley, seven.

A former detective says there could be 17 unsolved murders linked to a group of child killers including Sidney Cooke (left) and that the investigation could hold evidence about a paedophile ring which allegedly abused boys at Elm Guest House (right)

But detectives believed at the time that as many as 17 other abductions and murders were connected to the notorious gang.

Mr Stoodley said detectives worked on the premise that there were 20 victims involved in Cooke's gang, but that only three were established.

'It seems unbelievable but we were told there may have been twenty paedophile murders,' he said. 'We proved there were three and there may have been more. There are potentially 17 unsolved murders.'

Detectives at the time also investigated links between Cooke's group and the Elm Guest House in Barnes - where it is alleged politicians and other VIPs attacked and abused children - but could not find a link.

Scotland Yard last week launched a new probe into the possibility of murders linked to the guest house, which is at the centre of the inquiry into the establishment paedophile conspiracy.

Mr Stoodley told the Times: 'The Orchid files - if they still exist - could hold the key to renewed concerns over the handling of police investigations into two child abductions.

...

Mr Stoodley believes the connection may have been through Leonard Smith, one of Cooke’s accomplices, who may have been a male prostitute at Elm Guest House.

He said: 'We had reason to believe he could have gone there in the past, but Smith would never cooperate with us. He refused to speak. He would always just say "no comment". And he is dead now.'

He added: 'The lot we put away were dirty, disgusting individuals. I don’t think their paths would ever have crossed with those visiting Elm Guest House because they moved in different circles.'

...

The skull and several rib bones of Vishal were discovered in 1982 by pigeon shooters in remote marshland at Durford Abbey Farm, at Rogate, close to the Hampshire-West Sussex border.

Vishal, from Putney, south-west London, had vanished while shopping with his nanny and sister on July 29, 1981 - the same day Lady Diana Spencer and the Prince of Wales were married.

In June 1982, four months after Vishal's remains were found, police raided the Elm Guest House and it was widely reported at the time that the raids were linked to the boy's disappearance.

Mr Stoodley said the disappearances of Vishal and Martin 'matched the modus operandi' of Cooke and his associates.

Cooke's gang worked by luring boys away while they were walking on their own. They also groomed them for abuse.

Operation Orchid, which was wound up shortly after Mr Stoodley retired in 1992, resulted in Cooke serving two life sentences for sexual abuse.

Meanwhile, detective Jackie Malton, who worked on the original case, told the Daily Telegraph she had a feeling of 'misuse of power' during her time at Scotland Yard.

Miss Malton, a former detective chief inspector and the inspiration for the Prime Suspect TV drama series, said: 'There is clear evidence that something was happening at that guest house.

It has been alleged several high-profile individuals also abused boys at the prestigious Dolphin Square (pictured) development in Pimlico

'If nothing has been done about it in retrospect, then Mr Mehrotra is right. Either the police disbelieved it, or they covered it up one way or another.

'I do remember that the officers were highly passionate about the Mehrotra case, but for some reason we never managed to get anywhere.'

She added: 'There was also a strong sense of the power of Parliament and of politicians. It was very much a case of 'Do as you are told.'

The new probe into the guest house was triggered after another victim came forward alleging to have witnessed the murder of three boys, including one who was allegedly strangled by a Conservative MP during a sex game.

The Metropolitan Police announced last week that it is investigating the possibility of murders linked to the Elm Guest House.

Allegations of a VIP paedophile ring 30 years ago are being investigated by Scotland Yard through Operation Fairbank, launched two years.

Operation Fairbank started in response to information passed on by MP Tom Watson, who used Prime Minister's Questions in 2012 to air claims that there was a paedophile ring with links to No 10.
The late Liberal MP Cyril Smith is one public figure widely alleged to have abused children from Grafton Close at the Elm Guest House.

As well as Elm Guest House, some of the abuse allegedly took place at flats in Dolphin Square, Pimlico, where some politicians had London homes.

A spokesman for the force said it would not give a 'running commentary' on the inquiries.

...

Sidney Cooke (pictured right), a former fairground worker, earned his reputation as one of the country's most notorious paedophiles when he was a leading member of a gang that operated from a flat in Hackney, east London.

The gang, known as the Dirty Dozen, hired out rent boys or snatched children off the streets before subjecting them to abuse and sexual torture.

Cooke - known as 'Hissing Sid' - was released from jail in April 1999, after serving nine years for the murder of 14-year-old rent boy Jason Swift in 1985.

But, after his release, he was immediately taken into voluntary custody for his own safety.

Detectives, convinced he was responsible for other similar unsolved crimes, kept his file open.
Within months Cooke, now aged 87, was accused of abusing two teenage brothers he befriended while working on fairgrounds more than 30 years ago.

In an unexpected move at Manchester Crown Court, Cooke suddenly changed his plea to guilty and admitted ten offences against the youngsters and subsequently received two life sentences.

Four charges of rape, a further three of indecent assault and one of buggery were left on the court file.

Cooke was convicted for Jason Swift's murder alonside Leslie Bailey, Robert Oliver and Steven Barrell.

Bailey was convicted in 1992 of the manslaughter of seven-year-old Mark Tildesley who was raped in Cooke's caravan while visiting a fairground near Wokingham, Berkshire, in 1984.

Bailey was also convicted of the murder of Barry Lewis, six, who was abducted in June 1991 before being sexually abused by up to eight men.

Cooke is still in jail. Bailey was murdered in his prison cell in 1993 and Oliver was reported to be living in a bail hostel in Guildford, Surrey. The whereabouts of Barrell are unknown.

Interesting - this is from an article published months before any of these recent developments broke (April of 2014)

In an interview with The Mail on Sunday, he also tells of a sexual encounter with Cyril Smith – and how he was warned by police to ‘keep quiet about what and who you saw’.

For years, the question of what went on at the Edwardian terrace in Rocks Lane, overlooking Barnes Common, has been the subject of speculation. It was claimed politicians, judges, pop stars, a high-ranking policeman, a member of the Royal household and an MI5 officer were among the visitors. There were allegations that some VIPs preyed on boys from a nearby children’s home.

But until today no one with any first-hand knowledge of what went on has ever spoken publicly. In bombshell testimony, Mr Towsey, who worked at Rocks Lane for five months as a masseur, claims:
  • Guest house owner Carole Kasir paid police protection money.

  • Names of high-profile guests were kept in a black book, referred to by Kasir as ‘my insurance policy’.

  • Kasir told him a Cabinet Minister was a regular visitor.

  • He only knew Cyril Smith was a politician when he recognised his Spitting Image puppet years later.
Mr Towsey has also spoken to Labour MP Simon Danczuk, whose book about Smith revealed how he abused scores of boys. Last night Mr Danczuk said: ‘This is a significant part of the jigsaw in what is a complex cover-up. It really moves on the need for a more in-depth inquiry.’

Mr Towsey first visited Elm Guest House in February 1982. At the time he was pursuing his dream of becoming an actor. He later appeared in Grange Hill and Doctor Who.

‘I went out one night with a friend and we ended up going back to where he was staying in Barnes, which was on my way home,’ said Mr Towsey. ‘It was Elm Guest House. We had a couple of drinks in the bar and that’s where I first met Carole Kasir, the owner. She was kind of hippy-ish and made quite a fuss of me.’

She was less welcoming the following morning. ‘Carole’s demeanour changed. She said I had to pay for my night’s stay but I couldn’t afford it. She said: “You can work here as a masseur.”

Carole told him that some of the visitors were prominent people. Mr Towsey said: ‘She kept their names in a black address book, which she referred to as her insurance policy.

‘She said one was a Cabinet Minister and there were judges and politicians. I remember Cyril Smith but I didn’t know he was a politician until I saw his puppet on Spitting Image.

‘Carole told me not to let him in the sauna, as he had got stuck in there before and they had to take the door off to get him out.’ He added: ‘Smith wanted me to strip naked and massage him. I was also forced to watch as he masturbated.’

Carole came to confide in the 16-year-old, complaining how she was under pressure to contribute to Richmond police’s ‘Christmas fund’. ‘It was protection money,’ he said.

In all, Mr Towsey slept with three people at the house. ‘They all turned out to be police,’ he said.

‘One came round in the first month. He was early 20s, good-looking, not the usual sort who went to the house.’

Mr Towsey saw the man again some months later – at Richmond police station – after he and the Kasir were arrested in a raid. Before that, Mr Towsey claims, two other undercover officers visited the house. ‘The first came in April and I had sex with him. He turned out to be one of the officers who later raided the house.

‘He came back about three weeks later and hired a room. He stayed two nights and on the second night his partner stayed too. I ended up having sex with them. Afterwards they asked how much and I told them that they were not clients and felt insulted they wanted to pay me.’

Mr Towsey continued at the house until the raid in June. He was charged with keeping a disorderly house and assisting in the management of a brothel. ‘That year was terrible,’ he said. ‘People were ringing up making death threats. I got a job in the kitchen at a bingo hall in Hounslow. My dad used to pick me up after work in his Nissan Sunny.

‘One day he didn’t turn up because its tyres had been let down. But he didn’t have time to let me know. Yet when I arrived at the usual spot, a Nissan Sunny was in the usual place and I got in the front.

‘There were three police officers inside. One of them was at the station following the raid. They told me they could pick me up at any time and told me keep my mouth shut. I never told anyone, not even my family.’

The day he was due at the Old Bailey, the charges against him were suddenly dropped. Kasir, who died in 1990, was found guilty of keeping a disorderly house but received a fine and suspended sentence.

Mr Towsey was contacted by detectives from Operation Fernbridge in 2012. ‘They said they were opening up the case again because of Savile. I have had a couple of calls since to say they are still investigating but they haven’t moved anything on. I am considering legal action against the Met. I shut the door on it once and I want to shut the door on it again and move on.’

Scotland Yard declined to comment.

A Labour MP says he is considering the sensational step of publicly naming an influential politician who allegedly abused boys at Elm Guest House.

Simon Danczuk, who exposed former Liberal MP Cyril Smith, said he would use Parliamentary privilege – giving him legal immunity – to unmask someone ‘much more important’. ‘I have used privilege before and I would consider using privilege to name the Parliamentarian,’ he said yesterday.

Rochdale MP Mr Danczuk published a book last week detailing how Smith, who died in 2010, abused hundreds of vulnerable boys over four decades.

Unlike Smith, the politician he is now considering naming is still sitting in Parliament.

I found an old (1998) old article interviewing family members of a murdered child from paedophile Sidney Cook around the time he was initially released.

A child sex killer, Sidney Cooke has been released from prison. These parents believe he’s in a police cell in their town.
..
Vivian White: What Sidney Cooke did with his friends is every parent’s nightmare and the children share the adults fear.
..
Det Supt David Edwards: What I am clear about is that he is very well aware of the public reaction to him and in fact the distaste of the public for Mr Cooke. He is certainly well aware of that and obviously in some fear of that.
..
White: This is the story of a ring of men who used and killed children for pleasure and of the dark truths about child sex abuse that lie within every community.

Sid Swift: The first I knew about it was one Saturday evening the news came on and they said that they’d found a boy’s body. Didn’t give any name, I just said some poor parents are going to go through it, you know, a body’s been found, some parents are going to go through it, didn’t think it was going to be me.

White: Jason Swift was aged fourteen. The BBC’s Crime Watch reconstructed the last days of Jason’s life. Jason’s parents had separated two years previously and later on he’d gone missing and slipped into a London underworld in which some homeless children were treated as common currency to be passed around by adults and sexually abused.

Det Chf Supt Roger Stoodley: I don’t believe he was a homosexual but he was being paid to commit homosexual acts and that allowed him to buy food and sometimes gave him somewhere to stay for the night and that’s the sort of life he was leading.
..
Sid Swift: All I know is the media keep calling him a rent boy, as far as I’m concerned he’s not a rent boy. If he was a rent boy it was only what Cooke and his cronies made him.

White: But on the thirtieth of November 1985 all the police knew was that a boy’s body had been found in a field in Essex and in most cases of child killing the attacker isn’t a stranger but familiar to the victim. So once the body had been identified the police intensely
questioned Jason’s close family, his father was questioned for seven and a half hours.
..
White: But as the police pieced the facts together they were gradually to discover that this was a very rare crime indeed, the sex killing of a child by a ring of adults. In November 1985 Jason had been taken to the Kingsmead Estate in London’s East End and in this flat
a group of men had drugged, violently abused and killed him.
...
White: In 1989 when the case came to trial the prosecution weren’t confident that they could prove intent to murder. His killers were charged with manslaughter. At the Old Bailey the nature of true justice is literally written in stone above the portico at the entrance. The inscription reads ‘Punish the wrongdoer and defend the children’. The police believe that others were involved in Jason’s killing but they only had evidence to convict four, Steven Barrell, who told his common law wife about disposing of blood stained clothing. Robert Oliver, who all ready had convictions for sexual offences against children. Lesley Bailey, previously convicted of a violent sex attack and Sidney Cooke who’d been arrested immediately after serving a sentence for a previous child sex offence. The police said he was the leader of the ring. It’s believed that three of those convicted of this killing, Cooke, Oliver and Bailey had themselves been abused as children.

Stoodley: The history of them is such that they were engaged in or the victims of child abuse from a very early age so I think it was a graduation. They conducted sex acts with each other and children, the children weren’t killed, but gradually as the desire to engage in more and more bizarre acts were concerned they came to the stage where they killed somebody and then they thought this is, in their words ‘great’ and they wished to continue doing it and they did.

White: In prison Cooke, Bailey and Oliver began to boast about other cases of sadistic abuse and killings. And the other things they talked about provoked a fellow prisoner, Ian Gabb, to break all the codes of prison life and to write down what he was being told and tell the authorities. The police set up an operation to run their informant, a convicted rapist, in jail. He was given no favours in return. The police deliberately had him moved at intervals so that he shared cells with Bailey, Oliver and Cooke and wrote down what each of them told him.The ring leader, Cooke, was the one whom Gabb found most disturbing as he recorded in the notes he passed onto the police.

Ian Gabb: I moved in with Sidney Cooke yesterday afternoon, please God don’t ever let this man walk our streets again. He continually talks about sex with children and it’s really sickening. Cooke has all ready admitted to me that he’s seen about fifteen killed. He boasts of this figure.
..
White: With the help of that information the police got one member of the ring Bailey, to confess his role in further killings and to name others for their part. The police escorted Bailey outside prison to find out more. Bailey said Cooke the ring’s leader was involved and
another man Lenny Smith, a known paedophile whom the police had questioned over the Jason Swift case. To test Bailey’s story the police made him lead them to the place where he said he buried a boy, a young child’s body had been found there in the Essex countryside but sometimes Bailey confused the victims names.

Stoodley: Sometimes he just described them as small boy, small half cast boy, that sort of information. I don’t think they cared who they were, certainly Sidney Cooke and Smith were not in the least bit concerned about the boys names, they just grabbed boys off the street and then the kids were abused at some later stage.

White: Barry Lewis was six, Bailey pleaded guilty to his murder, there was insufficient evidence to prosecute any one else. And Lesley Bailey told the police about the killing of one more boy, Mark Tildesley, he was seven, he disappeared years before in Wokingham in Berkshire. Crime Watch made this reconstruction as well. One afternoon Mark had gone off by himself. But he’d gone to the fair and a paedophile was at the fair ground, a predator seeking a child to abduct. And Mark had turned up, perfect prey. Cooke had invited Smith and Bailey to come up from London to join him for a ‘party’, his term for child sex abuse, Mark was abducted, abused and killed probably before his parents Lavinia and John even realised that he was missing. Bailey pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Mark Tildesley but neither Cooke, who he said abducted him, nor Smith who he said actually killed Mark, were charged. The Crown Prosecution Service thought prosecutions against them for Mark Tildesley’s death would fail because they rely heavily on Bailey’s evidence.

Stoodley: He admitted his guilt in Mark Tildesley’s murder although he wasn’t the person who actually killed him, and he implicated Cooke and Smith.

White: And they were both named in connection with Mark’s death in court at Bailey’s trial. Bailey told the police that Cooke led the others and disposed of Mark’s body. The child’s body had never been found but the Tildesley’s keep a burial place for him and his mother pleads with Sidney Cooke, tell the truth about their son.
..
White: Sidney Cooke has never admitted playing a role in Mark Tildesley’s killing, nor has Lenny Smith, but Smith did go to jail for another sex offence with a young child, he’s still inside and due for release next year. As sex offenders in prison the ring were endanger
themselves, Bailey convicted of three child killings was murdered by two other inmates in this jail, White Moor?
..
White: One by one the gang are now being released. Robert Oliver who we understand did take part in the sex offenders treatment programme finished his sentence in September last year. He was still judged to present a considerable risk. The press reported Robert Oliver’s progress and he was met with protests wherever he went. After trying to settle in London, Swindon, Dublin and Manchester he finally chose the south coast resort of Brighton. From the moment Robert Oliver got off the train, the police began a twenty four hour covert surveillance operation. and all the official agencies who might now become involved, met to plan strategy in Brighton Police Station.

Penny Buller: He had made contact with another paedophile in the area which clearly increases risk if somebody is making links with other like minded people. He’d been frequenting places in Brighton where there were unescorted children and young people including paying a visit to the children’s section of the local library.
..
White: First there was Oliver and very soon afterwards Emma Swift received another shock. In March this year she learned that another of the four men convicted of killing her cousin, Steven Barrell, had been released and was living in her home town. Barrell’s home in
Northampton was close to a school.
..
Stoodley: We don’t believe he was one of the principal members of the gang and I think that was reflected in the Former Investigating Officer sentence. A minor player in, if you like, the hierarchy of the gang and I don’t believe that from any evidence that I’ve had, or any information that I’ve got that he presents anything like the danger that the others do.

Detectives are investigating three alleged murders as part of an inquiry into historical child abuse, the Met Police has said.

Police say no confirmed identities or bodies of victims had been found.

Officers made a public appeal for information relating to Dolphin Square estate in Pimlico, south-west London, amid claims boys were abused there.

[...]

The appeal was made as part of Operation Midland, which is under the umbrella of Operation Fairbank, and is one of a number of ongoing inquiries into historical abuse.

Scotland Yard detectives have spoken to the family of Martin Allen, who disappeared in 1979 at the age of 15, police confirmed.

Police were also in close contact with Sussex Police, where officers are carrying out a further review into the disappearance and murder of eight-year-old Vishal Mehrotra in 1981.

Officers said it was not possible to say whether either disappearance was linked to Operation Midland, which was launched by the Met's homicide and major crime team last month.

It is one of 18 strands of the wider Operation Fairbank, which is investigating allegations of abuse involving senior politicians and high-profile figures.

he Met Police's handling of a child's disappearance on the way home from Prince Charles and Princess Diana's wedding in 1981 is to be investigated.

Eight-year old Vishal Mehrotra was murdered on his way home to Putney.

His father said he had given the police a recording of a man who claimed Vishal had been abducted and killed by "highly placed" paedophiles.

Vishal, whose father is a retired magistrate, was walking home after watching the royal wedding parade when he disappeared.

The boy's remains were found the following year in remote marshland at a farm in Rogate, near the Hampshire-West Sussex border.

With this many people involved, hopefully someone will be pressued to come forward with the truth and justice will be served for these children. It does sound like there was some dirty pool going on with the police and the politicians.
