The perpetrators (I won't call them parents) are Tony and Jody Simpson—that's them just above. And of course they were living in squalor (pics at the link below) and of course the father has previous convictions for assault and possessing heroin. Not to mention the 22 years of age he's got on his bride. o_OWhile the sentence is far from adequate, at least the judicial system found adoptive parents for the baby and gave him a new identity. The jury took less than an hour to find to find Tony and Jody guilty.

They really should deprive people like this of the means of reproduction, no child should ever have to suffer at their hands again...

The court heard the horrific fractures to both the youngster's thighbones and lower legs, right ankle, left thumb and two bones in a big toe were revealed by subsequent x-rays.

Experts later concluded they would have been caused by yanking, pulling and twisting, with considerable force and up to 10 days before he was finally taken to his doctor.

The dislocated fracture to the youngster's right lower leg and ankle may have even been inflicted by a swinging action.

He was in so much pain from this one injury alone that he showed signs of distress even when sedated in hospital.

Sadly, the septicaemia was so severe that Tony, who has since been adopted and given a new identity, has been left with life-changing injuries.

As well as having had both legs amputated, his hip joints are so damaged by infection that they may not be able to even bear the weight of prosthetic limbs.

Little Tony's happy new home with adoptive parents revealed in impact statement

Prosecutor Heather Stangoe revealed that Tony Smith had found a 'wonderful' new home.

In her impact statement to the court she said Tony, who has had his name changed, had made a 'wonderful impact' on his new family.

He is still affected by the horrific injuries but does not let it define him, the court heard.

She said: 'He was in a pitiful state and despite being four months old by then weighed just 9lb 7oz, and that included the weight of two plaster casts he had on his legs.

'He was in a lot of pain. He was on morphine for the first few months and very strong antibiotics.

'Very sadly, he was emotionally completely shut down - glazed eyes and absolutely no expression on his face.

'His foster family took very special care of him and he went back to the Evelina hospital at least twice a week.

'He was often quite distressed, not least when doctors undressed him to examine him.

'He has had fairly intensive intervention with physiotherapy as well as speech and language therapy, his speech having been delayed by the amount of time he has spent in hospital.'

'Those injuries have had, and continue to have, a life-changing effect on Tony and his needs are exceptional,' she said.

'Such a special little boy deserves a special family, and the other part of this case is that I can tell you he does have a wonderful family.

'He is now part of a very happy family, with siblings, been adopted and had his name changed.

'It is quite true to say he has just had the most wonderful impact on their life. He is a happy and delightful character in their family.'

'They also wanted you to know that of course Tony is impacted about what happened, but it does not define who he is.

'They want you to know how happy, how really very happy he is. He has ended up in just the most wonderful place.'

"He was grey, frothing at the mouth and grunting, with a 'shockingly swollen' body and in multiple organ failure".
Holy mother of pearl. That fucking killed me. Seriously made my stomach turn.
This is my only consolation....defense attorney:
"Mr Irwin said Smith had also been a target of violence while in custody".
I need details of that violence. I need it to be really vicious acts. Worse than what that baby endured.

The family also revealed Smith has been threatened in prison and refuses to leave his cell for fear of being attacked.

“Tony hasn’t left his cell for three days so hasn’t eaten.

“When he comes out, people try to bully him and beat him up.

"What he’s done has been on TV, so people know about it and they’re like that, aren’t they?

“At the end of the day, he’s still human and he still needs to eat. So mum spoke to the governor to ask if they can give him some food in his cell.”

While Smith fears for his own safety behind bars, his family is also receiving threats, with Priscilla adding: “People are coming to us saying 'we're going to burn your house down', so we have to keep looking outside.”

No he is NOT human ! The baby they mutilated is HUMAN. Let him starve, let the other inmates bully the flippin legs off of him with sporks.

I wonder how the mom is faring. I hear women in prison for crimes against children usually cant be in gen pop if the other women find out.

Im so, so glad the little guy survived, and is happy and healthy and cared for.

Here is some great news for you guys

A prisoner who nearly beat his son to death has been attacked by his fellow inmates with 'a sock filled with tuna cans' and metal bars.

Tony Smith, 47, tortured his baby, also called Tony Smith, so badly his legs had to be amputated and was jailed alongside the youngster's mother Jody Simpson, 24.

Two inmates at Swaleside Prison on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent are believed to have attacked Smith after being wrongly housed in the wing for vulnerable prisoners, The Star reports.

Smith survived the beating, but has been left with a fractured eye socket, broken ribs and a broken jaw.

A prison source told the newspaper: 'They came into contact with Smith and held him hostage in his own cell for four hours.

'During that time they tied him to a chair and attacked him with a sock filled with tuna cans and metal bars. They also stamped all over him.

A prison service spokesman told The Sun: 'Staff resolved an incident involving three prisoners at HMP Swaleside on 7 August.
