A man is facing charges in connection with the death of a 20-month-old girl after a medical examiner said he thinks the cause of death was "blunt force abdominal trauma," according to court documents.

The manner of death is listed as homicide, the documents state. The motive has yet to be released.

Tyree La'Mont Williams, 25, is accused of first-degree murder charge in connection with the death of 20-month-old Kylah Mikel Woodard, according to police.

Williams was the live-in boyfriend.

He was arrested Wednesday (Jan. 31) on an unrelated warrant, but after speaking with investigators Thursday (Feb. 1), Williams faces first-degree murder.

Williams reportedly told investigators he punched Kylah more than once in her stomach. He told them he has hit her during past occasions, the documents state.

Investigators were dispatched to Sparks Regional Medical Center at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 30), regarding a couple entering the emergency room carrying a dead little girl, according to police. She died at the hospital about 30 minutes after arriving.

Police said Kylah had bruises on her body.

"The medical staff there worked on the child there for quite awhile. They tried to revive this child and unfortunately they were unsuccessful," Cpl. Anthony Rice with the Fort Smith Police Department said.

"She was the center of everyone's life. Kylah was a wonderful, brilliant child and we are going to miss her terribly," said Grandmother Bobbie Jones and Great-Grandmother Diane Thomas. She was the joy of our lives."

The family also spoke about Kylah's biological father and mother. They said they are both relying on support from family to get through this tragic time.

While being escorted by investigators to the Sebastian County Detention Center from the Fort Smith Police Department, Williams said he's "sorry".

Police said Sierra Johnson was arrested on the charge of permitting the abuse of a minor.

Police said Johnson was the biological mother of Kylah Woodard, the toddler that died after being taken to Sparks hospital in January.

Police arrested Johnson's live-in boyfriend, Tyree Williams, and charged him with 1st Degree Murder. Fort Smith Police said he admitted to punching the little girl in the stomach.

How scared, hurt, and sad was this baby in her final moments? Whatever their punishment is, it won’t be enough. I’d like to see the moment that cunt loses her smirk too, that fucking bitch. May everything in her life be a wasteland of failure and misery as long as she lives. As for DOTM, cannonballs to the stomach until death sounds right.

So much fucking negative shit I could say right now but I won't.
Every so often a story hits me so viscerally that all I can do is say, "May the angels sing thee to thy rest".

And may the angels sing thee to thy rest, sweet Kylah.

Sierra Ann Johnson of Fort Smith was recently sentenced by a Sebastian County judge to 10 years in prison with 10 years’ probation for drug charges and permitting abuse of a minor that led to the death of her child in late January.

Johnson, 20, pleaded guilty May 9 to the charges filed by the Sebastian County prosecutor in mid-February. As part of the plea, she agreed to testify against her former live-in boyfriend, Tyree La’Mont Williams, in his first-degree murder trial scheduled for the week of Oct. 15.

Williams, who was charged in February for the death of Johnson’s 18-month-old child, is accused of causing injuries that led to the child’s death. He has pleaded not guilty. The probable cause affidavit for Johnson’s arrest alleges she left her daughter in the care of Williams, “knowing that he had abused her in the past.” The child was found with bruises on her head and body before being taken to a local hospital, where medical personnel were unable to resuscitate her.

Williams allegedly admitted to punching the girl in the stomach “a couple of times” prior to her death. He also said he had hit her and left bruises on her in the past, according to the affidavit.

Johnson told police she knew Williams was “a violent marijuana dealer who was in possession of a firearm,” the affidavit states. She also said she continued to leave her daughter with Williams after they watched a would-be drug purchaser shoot Williams in the hand and rob him in December 2017, the affidavit adds.

Williams will face life in prison if convicted on the murder charge.

A western Arkansas man who fatally struck a 1-year-old in the stomach was sentenced to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to first-degree murder, according to a sentencing order.

Tyree La’Mont Williams was 25 when prosecutors charged him with the death of his girlfriend’s 19-month-old daughter last January.

Authorities said they found multiple bruises on the child’s body, including some that appeared to have happened at different times.

A state medical examiner ruled the child died Jan. 31 from blunt-force trauma and testified that the child’s prior injuries indicated chronic child abuse or battered child syndrome.

Williams admitted to punching the victim in the stomach "a couple of times," authorities said at the time of the child’s death. He reportedly told investigators he also left bruises on her body after striking her in the past.
