Rondell Veal, who slashed his throat and jumped in front of a subway train on Sunday, is wanted for allegedly killing his girlfriend in Delaware.
(NEWARK POLICE DEPARTMENT)
A Delaware man on the run after stabbing his girlfriend to death tried to kill himself in Midtown early Sunday by jumping onto the subway tracks at Grand Central station, cops said.

Rondell Veal, 36, slashed his throat and leaped onto the southbound No. 6 train tracks at the Grand Central-E. 42nd St. station around 1:15 a.m., according to police sources.

Cops grabbed him before a train arrived, though, and medics rushed him to Bellevue Hospital, where a surgeon worked on his slashed trachea, sources said.

Police soon learned Veal was wanted for murder.

Cops in Newark, Del., found Veal’s 34-year-old girlfriend, Sherrie Campbell, stabbed to death in her home late Friday. Her death marked that city's first homicide since 2014, according to The News Journal.

A Newark man who fatally stabbed his girlfriend two years ago will spend the next three decades in prison, a judge decided this week.

Rondell Veal – was sentenced to 33 years for murdering Sherrie L. Campbell, 34, in the home they shared.

Veal, 38, pleaded guilty but mentally ill to second-degree murder and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony.

Campbell’s family grew worried when she didn’t pick up her son from daycare and called Newark Police to check on her. When officers arrived around 11:45 p.m. Sept. 22, 2017, they found Campbell dead from multiple stab wounds.

Two days later, Veal reportedly used a knife to slash his wrists and neck and then jumped onto train tracks in an apparent suicide attempt in Grand Central Terminal. Police and paramedics saved him and rushed him to a hospital before later discovering he was wanted for murder.

Veal underwent surgery to repair his trachea before being extradited back to Delaware.

A “guilty but mentally ill” plea – which is different than an insanity defense – means the defendant is sentenced to prison but will receive mental health treatment first.

Bug-eyed weirdo.
Still finding it hard to see him with a woman... unless it was for help doing his nails and eye liner
