New information obtained by the state indicates Yellowowl was allegedly in a relationship with the victim. Detectives also have received a photograph message from the Bureau of Indian Affairs showing the defendant shooting up the victim with methamphetamine. Yellowowl allegedly admitted that he shot her up because she did not know how to do it.
Detectives investigating the case also have received information that the victim allegedly was being trafficked by her mother for drugs.
Yellowowl was assigned a $150,000 bond to run consecutively with his previously assigned $50,000 bond. Yellowowl’s defense attorney requested his bail not be increased since Yellowowl is unlikely to be able to pay the initial bond amount. District Judge Elizabeth Best denied the request saying Yellowowl was getting a “bargain,” even at the $200,000 total bond given the nature of the allegations against him.
Yellowowl was detained after an Great Falls Police officer observed a vehicle missing a rear license plate and made a traffic stop.
According to the charging documents, Yellowowl was in the passenger seat while the victim was in the driver’s seat. Yellowowl allegedly told the officer he and the victim were “kind of cousins.” Yellowowl also allegedly told the officer he had consumed several shots of Crown Royal.
Yellowowl was visiting Great Falls from Browning to purchase tires for his car. Yellowowl told the officer he, his son and the victim were staying with the defendant’s father at the Comfort Inn, according to court documents.
Because the victim didn’t have a valid driver’s license, the officer requested contact information for her parent or guardian. The officer stated he was given contact information for the girl’s mother, but was unable to make contact.

According to the charging documents, the officer also made a call to the Comfort Inn to verify Yellowowl’s claim. When the officer was transferred to Yellowowl’s room, the phone was answered by Yellowowl’s son, who advised officers he was staying in the hotel with Yellowowl and Yellowowl’s girlfriend, according to court records. Yellowowl’s son told the officer that Yellowowl’s father was in Browning and not at the hotel as Yellowowl had said.
According to the charging documents, the officer requested the use of Yellowowl’s cell phone to call the defendant’s father and verify Yellowowl’s story and the father confirmed Yellowowl was in Great Falls to purchase tires. When asked about the relationship between Yellowowl and the victim, Yellowowl’s father told the officer that the victim is his niece. and he didn’t believe Yellowowl to be in a relationship with her, according to court documents.
The victim was asked to sit in the back of the patrol victim and denied both a romantic relationship and any drug use, the records said.
The officer requested medical personnel to respond to the scene given his belief that the victim was under the influence of methamphetamine. The victim was escorted to the emergency room. The victim admitted to emergency responders that she had snorted methamphetamine, taken two Gebapentin pills and had a shot of Crown Royal, the court document said.
The officer asked dispatch to contact Department of Family Services and have them respond to the location. The officer then spoke with a Department of Public Health and Human Services specialist who attempted to make contact with Yellowowl’s son at the hotel.
Yellowowl was then escorted to the Great Falls Police Station for interview and an additional officer followed the victim to Benefis Health System for interview.
During a recorded interview with the victim, the victim told the officer she consumed methamphetamine in Browning, prior to leaving for Great Falls. She also told the officer she had consumed alcohol with Yellowowl in Browning and more alcohol provided by Yellowowl while in the Comfort Inn, according to the charging documents, but the victim continued to deny a romantic relationship with the defendant.
Following the interview with the victim, officers interviewed Yellowowl.
Yellowowl told officers he and the victim have been dating for a few months, stating they were “messing around” and would smoke marijuana together, according to court records. Yellowowl told officers he was initially against the relationship given the victim’s age, admitting he knew the victim was 12 years old.
The defendent admitted to conducting various sexual acts with the victim, the court records said.
Yellowowl told officers the victim’s mother was aware of the sexual relationship between Yellowowl and the girl, court documents said.
Yellowowl has been charged with felony criminal endangerment, felony sexual abuse of children and a misdemeanor for unlawful transactions with children.
