WTF? Why can't she appeal from prison like most convicts?

Dalia Dippolito has been released on house arrest as she appeals her 20-year sentence for hiring a hit man to kill her husband in 2009, according to the Palm Beach County Jail.

In August, Palm Beach County Judge Jeffrey Colbath granted permission for her to post a $500,000 bail as she seeks to overturn the convictions.
[...]

Dippolito will be on house arrest at her mother's Boynton Beach home. She cannot work outside the home, but she can travel to meet with her lawyer and for medical appointments. Dippolito also must surrender her passport, by court order.

During nearly 18 months of pre-trial house arrest before her April trial, Dippolito followed all the rules and conditions set by the court, according to Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office Deputy Doretha Snead.

Colbath agreed to renew the house arrest in a ruling on Aug. 26 if she made bail.

Dippolito's attorney, Michael Salnick, claims she did not receive a fair trial because one of the key witnesses — who said he would be out of the country during the trial — was actually in Palm Beach County and did not testify.

And her reality TV dreams have come true:
The long-awaited COPS episode about her case airs this Saturday.

Of course, there are a few details that aren't included in the trailer for the show -- such as the Boynton Beach officers who tricked Dalia into signing the waiver that allowed the COPS crew to keep filming. Critics have contended this bit of deception threatened the case, and exposed the Boynton police department's unhealthy lust for media attention.

Despite the backlash, Boynton officials are proudly promoting this weekend's COPS episode on the department's Facebook page. If you've got it, flaunt it. Isn't that what Dalia would say?

Sorry to bring up a dead thread but I am currently watching the trial on InSession and I spend most of my time with my mouth hanging open. It is just mind-boggling the lengths that this woman would go to to get rid of her husband. I know she got 20 years and will most likely be out in 10. That's a scary thing. I am thinking that she will return to Palm Beach County. I certainly hope some people will be warned before she's released.

The black widow could be plotting for her next "reality show" while in prison. No man is safe. LOL

I agree completely with malq , princessgrandma . I have read some interesting stuff as a result of an update just like yours!

Yesterday, they had the cops testifying to the incidents that happened over a period of time before Dalia was arrested for this plot. She had tried to get him arrested for having drugs in the car, selling drugs out of his house, stuff like that. Anything like that that was founded would be a violation of his 28 years of probation and he'd have to go to jail for a long time. After several times of trying to get him arrested and/or violated, she decided to find someone to off him. This was like the third time she had attempted to get someone to kill him. The to-be killers backed out on her or something each time. This time, though, the guy she asked to arrange a hit man for her just happened to be a former/current lover of Dalia's and he went to the cops instead of arranging the hit.

It's all like a soap opera as it plays out. She had taken his money (money he had given her to save towards payment of a $191,000 restitution to his victims of the fraud to possibly get off probation), wanted more and she wanted his house. She even got him to sign the house over to her b/c a fake attorney (that Dalia had arranged to talk to him) told him that he should get everything out of his name in case his assets were to be confiscated for some reason. I don't get all that, but he fell for it.

Anyway, they have her on video talking to the hit man, and Dalia still swears she didn't do it. Her defense is still that they were trying to get some producer or someone to notice so they could get a reality show. Her reason for this? Mike just LOVED reality shows and he wanted them to be on one.

I have actually laughed through most of this trial. I suppose if Dippolito had actually been killed, it would be tragic, but the way this whole thing looks at this point..... it's like one big comedy of errors. I don't know who was stupider.... the husband who was clueless or the wife who tried to get him off and ended up talking to an undercover cop that she thought was the hit man. They have her dead to rights and she still denies.

I watched the Doug Stewart trial before this one. He abducted his estranged wife from her parents' home and killed her. He was found guilty of premeditated first degree murder in spite of the fact that Venus Stewart's body has never been found. They had his accomplice turn state's evidence on him for a plea deal for himself, and the cell phone pings put him right at the location she vanished from at the time. That was another great trial to watch. I already knew he got LWOP and this was pre-recorded, but I think I am getting addicted to this In Session stuff.

Good news.... Jared Harrell, the murderer of Somer Thompson, pleaded guilty to all charges and was sentenced to various sentences for different charges in addition to the murder charges, but he did get more than one life sentence (without chance for parole). He pleaded guilty to avoid the DP. Somer's family was not happy with the deal but at least now they know that this animal will never be on the streets again EVER.

In Session interrupted the showing of this trial due to the Jason Young retrial (GUILTY....YAY) and the Dharun Ravi trial. Ravi's the kid who used a web cam to spy on his Rutgers dorm roommate while the roommate was having an intimate encounter with another guy. He was found guilty as well, but I have mixed feelings on that verdict. Another story, another day.

Anyway, they're now back to showing the Dalia Dippolito trial, and have already taken another break on Friday due to the Casey Anthony/ Zenaida Gonzalez defamation thing. Anthony's people are trying to get the case thrown out. Haven't heard anything else on that one.

Now, I know that Dalia Dippolito has already been convicted and sentenced to 20 years by a judge who called her "pure evil." How in the hell did she get out on bond (house arrest, but OUT OF PRISON) to await a freaking appeal that her attorney has openly said he expects to take YEARS. The reason for the appeal was that the former lover who told the cops that Dippolito was trying to find a hit man had to have his testimony video-taped b/c he said he'd be out of the country. Turns out, he was actually IN country, and they found out due to the fact that he got a DUI in Palm Beach County while the trial was actually going on. Nothing was said about this at all until the trial was over and it hadn't gone her way. If she'd been found not guilty, they'd never have even raised the issue.

She has what I see as a stereotypical "shyster" attorney, who tries everything, throws everything against the wall to see if something will stick. Jose Baez, anyone? They must breed them in Florida. I'm still shaking my head at her being released after being sentenced to 20 years. This isn't a normal thing, is it? I've always heard that they stay in jail while the appeals go on. WTF is the deal with this one?

Maybe she's out on bond b/c she gave her attorney some extra-special "Dalia" payment. Then again, she'd have had to be spreading it all over the Palm Beach County legal system. Absolutely stunned, I am.

Dalia's second trial was declared a mistrial. I've said it before, sometimes juries are so dense they need an actual video of a crime before they will convict. In this case there actually IS a video and they STILL won't convict? I'm floored. This case was the slam-dunkiest of slam-dunks. Her first murder attempt on him was putting anti-freeze in his drink, she even planted drugs in his car twice to so he would get thrown in jail for violating his probation.

There was a lazy prosecutor, and the husband she wanted dead didn't testify. I don't know why, he was engaging and convincing when he testified in her first trial. Apparently there were three jurors (THREE) who thought that because her arrest was filmed on Cops, there was room for reasonable doubt. JFC, Florida. I guess anyone's arrest while filmed on Cops should be thrown out. Yes, the entire BBPD and her friend who turned her in were all in on framing Dalia, so they could appear on Cops. Quite an intricate plot, since there was VIDEO of her plotting his murder, and money exchanged. BTW the friend who turned her in was a married man who was desperate not to be named or filmed.

She has a baby boy now and petitioned to have her house arrest (which she is lucky to have) modified so she could go on outings with him. Denied.

Hopefully third time is the charm.

The first Friday in June will mark the start of jury selection in what will be Dalia Dippolito’s third trial in the case surrounding her caught-on-camera alleged plot to kill her then husband, Michael.

Circuit Judge Glenn Kelley issued an order Thursday setting Dippolito’s retrial for June 2.

I watched bits and pieces of her second trial, and the photo you posted perfectly exemplifies how flirty she was with that attorney on her right, simpering and making googly eyes at him during the trial. She was even checking her phone during the trial.

Meh. If the victim/husband in the case didn't care enough to testify, i don't see why i should give a shit about it all.

Is her family paying for all this legal action? She's impoverishing her family.

Ooh, that boob job her husband /victim paid for is still going strong!

Dippolito was heard in a jailhouse phone call discussing the recent jailbreak of Jimmy Causey, a South Carolina prisoner who escaped earlier this month using a drone and wire cutters, attorney Brian Claypool confirms to PEOPLE.

“He had somebody fly a drone over and drop off wire cutters and he cut wires and escaped from prison,” Dippolito is allegedly heard saying in audio obtained by ABC News. “Everyone here was like pumped up when they read that.”

The man she allegedly spoke with warned her that she’d “never” be able to pull off such an escape at the Palm Beach County prison. She replied: “God, settle down.”

Claypool confirmed that law enforcement officers are looking into the phone call, noting that the audio is being used by prosecutors who oppose Dippolito’s request to be released from prison pending her appeal.

However, Claypool tells PEOPLE that the conversation is no indication that Dippolito is looking to break out of prison.

“The portion of the jailhouse call … is completely taken out of context. The total phone call was 10 minutes. Of that 10 minutes, about 45 seconds to a minute of the phone call dealt with Dalia mentioning a news article she read,” he says.

“At no time did she ever make any specific reference to her male friend about him helping her get a drone or him helping her get a pair of wire cutters to help her escape from prison.”

Claypool says that since news of the phone call broke, Dippolito has been handcuffed everywhere she goes and has been restricted from making phone calls.

Dippolito was convicted in June of solicitation of first-degree murder. Prosecutors said she was captured on video and audio plotting to have her husband Michael Dippolito killed. During her trial, jurors heard her telling an undercover detective she was “5,000 percent sure” she wanted her husband dead.

Dippolito has maintained that she never intended to go through with the murder-for-hire plot. And her attorneys held that officers with the Boynton Beach Police Department failed to properly investigate the situation so they could capture video footage for the TV show Cops.

No money ever changed hands between Dippolito and the undercover detective, and Michael was unharmed. Dippolito is hopeful that her conviction will be overturned on appeal, Claypool told PEOPLE last month.

I'm pretty sure it's not your fault at all that he lived thru your murder for hire attempt on his life. And I think this proves they don't trust you at all. I think it's funny, myself.

20 years was the appropriate sentence. Can't figure out what's behind all the wrangling with this case.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4801294/Former-escort-tried-kill-husband-denied-bond.html

A former Florida escort was denied bond on Wednesday as she appeals her conviction in a murder-for-hire plot to have her new husband killed.

Palm Beach County Judge Glenn Kelley denied Dalia Dippolito's request to go free on house arrest while she appeals her June conviction of solicitation of first-degree murder.

The 34-year-old woman was found guilty in her third trial to have her newlywed husband killed by a hit man in 2009. She was sentenced to 16 years in prison last month.

During court Wednesday, Kelley questioned her defense team's strategy when he made his latest ruling.

She needs to be free to take care of her baaybeeee!

Prosecutors argued during her sentencing that she should be sentenced to 30 years while her attorneys pushed for two years and probation.

Her lawyers chalked it up to a one-time mistake and said it was important for the former escort to raise her son, who is only 14 months old.

So in amongst all this appeals, out of jail, back in jail, she gets pregnant, probably to get more sympathy as a mother who's being torn from her baby. So it's been 14mos now and poor baby hasn't had anybody taking care of him because his mother is in jail. Bullshit, just another way to drag sympathy. Baby is being cared for, has been cared for, will be cared for, she needs to stay in prison, because that's where she belongs.

When the fuck did she find the time to get knocked up, and by who? WTF? Also, a one time mistake? How do you even come up with that and say it with a straight face?

Someone on house arrest has nothing but time to get pregnant. The surprise is she only had one baby.

Michael Dippolito is building a new life, and has found a new love in a woman named Gloria, whom he met at a restaurant and the couple is now engaged.

“I was a little aware of what was going on [with Michael],” she told Inside Edition.

She said that after she learned the whole story, she felt bad for him.

“I really felt bad for him but my thing is just moving on from there,” she added. “I love him a lot.”

After what he's been through, Michael wants to make sure this time, he has found true love at last.

“It's nice,” he said of Gloria. “Sometimes it's hard to accept something this good is happening to you.”

“He's very lucky to be alive to be with me,” she added.

Good luck, Michael, tho I hope you don't need it.

Yes she does! Sad, little, featherless bird with wizened face and bugged out eyes. Except this bird is crying for herself.
