Deputies were called back in February by the mother of the victim, Sheriff Bobby Guidroz says. She said a teacher, Shelvin, was bullying her child. She said was told to report her complaint to the St. Landry School Board. But she returned to deputies earlier this month, saying the bullying had continued.

Deputies allegedly found that Shelvin intimidated and interfered in the operation of a public school with three of her other students by threatening to fail them if they would not fight with one of their classmates. Shelvin also reportedly told the bullied juvenile to “Go and Kill Yourself," the Sheriff said.

Detectives interviewed a student that was involved in the bulling of the 11 year old juvenile and that student allegedly admitted that she was forced by Shelvin to start an altercation with her classmate that resulted in several students being sent to the principal’s office. The student allegedly admitted she was told if she would not fight with the 11 year old, that Shelvin would refuse to help her with her class work just like she refuses to help the 11 year old. The student stated that she was scared that she would be treated like the 11 year old [....]

The mother of the student involved in the bullying told detectives that the incident had been going on since October of last year with her daughter being threatened by Shelvin to fight another student or Shelvin was going to fail her, the sheriff said. The mother stated that Shelvin was escorted off the school grounds and Tracy Gallow then took over the class.

Gallow then started pulling, pushing and yelling at her daughter because she reported to the principal that Shelvin was making her and two of her other friends fight the 11 year old because Shelvin did not like her or her mother [....]

Detectives observed the school video footage and witnessed Gallow on two occasions pushing the juvenile student on the school bleachers stopping her from exiting the gym. During the interview, Gallow allegedly admitted to pushing the juvenile on the bleachers because she felt she was too upset to go start her testing.

“Students should not have to attend school and be bullied especially by teachers that are there for their education, guidance and safety. The parents did the right thing, they reported it to the school board, and continued to monitor and talk to their children," Guidroz said. "The bullying continued and they took the next step by contacting law enforcement again.”

This confirms what I've always thought, mean girls never grow up and mature, they just stay mean girls for the rest of their lives, bullying and belittling those who are defenseless.

Ugh. This is where my family is from and I'm related somehow to one of them but I don't know her personally. Is Louisiana the new Florida?

(CNN)The 11-year-old girl was relentlessly bullied. And the culprit, police say, were her teachers.

One of them told the girl to "go kill herself" and threatened to fail other students if they didn't fight the girl, police said. And when that teacher was removed from the classroom, a second teacher allegedly kept up the abuse.

The two Louisiana teachers, Ann Marie Shelvin and Tracy Gallow, now face criminal charges.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz said he learned of the accusations back in February after the girl's mother filed a complaint. The mother returned to the sheriff's office in April to say the abuse was continuing.

Deputies said Shelvin, a teacher at Washington Elementary, threatened to fail three of her students if they didn't fight the girl. She also allegedly told the bullied girl to "go and kill herself."

In a police report obtained by CNN, a student involved in the incident told deputies that Shelvin forced her to start a fight that resulted in several students sent to the principal's office.

The student said she was told if she didn't fight the girl, Shelvin would refuse to help her with her class work just like she refuses to help the 11-year-old, the report said.

The student told deputies she was scared she'd be treated like the bullied girl if she didn't comply.

Shelvin was eventually removed from the school and Gallow, a former teacher's aide, took over her class.

The girl's mother told police that Gallow retaliated against the girl for reporting Shelvin to the principal.

School surveillance cameras caught Gallow pushing the girl onto the school bleachers on two occasions, the sheriff's office said. When questioned by police, Gallow admitted pushing the student because she felt the girl was too upset to go start her testing.

A school board official, Anthony Stanberry told CNN affiliate KLFY is disturbed by the news and is promising swift action.

"As a St. Landry Parish school board member, St. Landry Parish is not going to tolerate it," Anthony Stanberry, an official, told KLFY.

Whatever actions needs to be taken care of to handle the situation is what we plan to do."

The school district said it is investigating the allegations.

"We want to assure the school community that we take these allegations very seriously and we are doing everything to protect the health, safety and welfare of our students," St. Landry Parish School Board supervisor of personnel Matthew Scroggins said.

Sheriff Guidroz says the mother did the right thing by reporting the bullying to the school board.

"Students should not have to attend school and be bullied especially by teachers that are there for their education, guidance and safety," he said.

The teachers are charged with malfeasance in office, intimidation and interference in school operations.

But why? Why would two grown adults bully a kid? Did they know her family and didn't like them? Was the kid different in some way to the others (disability, race, learning speed)? Seems so random and weird.

What really sticks out here is that the school board did absolutely NOTHING!

Thank god this mother followed up with police 2 month later after nothing was done and the bullying continued!

Shame on this school

I hope someone beats the shit out of them.
How you are raised is how you will treat your children and the children of others. Our community is to aggressive towards children and feels that physical and verbal intimidation is the way to manage them. Not all do it but sometimes I just want to cry for the way Black children are treated.
