The graduate student, who has not been identified, was last seen Wednesday, March 15, said Diane Brown, spokeswoman for the University of Michigan Division of Public Safety and Security, according to MLive.

The student, who is apparently male according to the site, then rented a single engine Cessna 172 at Ann Arbor Airport that day.

He was a Chinese national, reported TB News Watch.

The plane's wreckage was found 11:38pm Wednesday night in a woodsy area of Manitouwadge, about 37.3 miles, east of the town of Marathon [....]

The wreckage was about 460 miles northwest of Ann Arbor Airport by air.

Mysteriously, the student was not in the wreckage, nor was there any sign of anyone around the wreckage, or having walked away from the wreckage, said authorities.

There were no footprints in the surrounding snow. He also did not appear to land at all after take-off and before the crash.

Authorities are still not saying what they think might have happened to the student, who is considered missing.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is taking over the crash investigation.

The missing person's case is being handled by the Michigan State Police and the University of Michigan Police Department, said Upnorthlive.

I find it odd they aren't saying who this guy is or releasing pictures. How else is the public supposed to help find the missing person? Or even cops? If they can't circulate information, then how will they find him?

They did identify him
