Kendell Rashad Bowden pleaded guilty Tuesday to conspiracy to commit bank fraud and aggravated identity theft charges.
Evidence showed that between December 2015 and July 2016, Bowden conspired with others to use stolen identification to open credit card accounts at retail stores, at which he purchased various items.
Bowden used or tried to use the stolen identities of at least 10 people [....]
Bowden admitted in court that he used the personal identification information of and a corresponding fake driver’s license of one person to get two auto loans that he used to buy two vehicles from a Charlotte dealership.
Investigators said Bowden stole more than $96,000 using ID theft.
In February 2017 while he was out on bond on the federal charges, Bowden used the stolen identity of another victim to obtain a credit card in the victim’s name. He then accidentally sent to his probation officer a text message that included the victim’s ID information.
Bowden then called his probation officer and asked him delete the text message, telling the probation officer that text was intended for Bowden’s sister.
