Genuine feel-good story. Five years after being beaten, stabbed 32 times, and left to die by her giant shit-stain of an ex, Melissa Dohme ended up marrying Cameron Hill - the EMT who kept her in this world.
Cameron proposed to her "at a 2015 Tampa Bay Rays game, where Dohme was set to throw out the first pitch, when Hill made a lifetime pitch of his own, bringing the ceremonial ball out to Dohme on the pitcher's mound with the words 'Will you marry me?' scrawled across it." (Awwww)

Melissa literally died twice during emergency treatment after she was found bleeding by the side of the road. She also suffered a stroke from blood loss. The ex, Robert Burton, stabbed her many times in the head and face, and went back for a bigger knife to stab her some more. Burton drove off and tried to OD himself right after stabbing Melissa...and failed.
It's a genuine miracle Melissa survived. Burton confessed to police and was sentenced to life in prison. She forgave him and found a new love, and he's not going to be out there doing it again—which makes the end of this story a big win-win.

"When Hill saw Dohme off in a helicopter bound for a trauma center, he knew that this wouldn’t be the last time he’d see her.
"'I had this crazy little feeling in my head that I would see Melissa again,' Hill told '48 Hours.'
"After spending three weeks in the hospital, she later graduated from St. Petersburg College-Clearwater, and now works as an advocate at Hands Across the Bay, helping victims of domestic violence."
