Pos Charged With Abuse After Taking 3-month-old Daughter To Doctor

Cody Allen Booth took his 3-month-old daughter to the pediatrician Friday about a low-grade fever and congestion.

But what started as a checkup turned into an investigation of child abuse, allegedly by the girl’s father.

According to Coweta County officials, doctors found two fractured ribs on the child, who was taken to Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital.

James Yarbrough with the Coweta County Sheriff's Office told The Newnan Times-Herald that the hospital determined the baby had a fractured skull, arm, collarbone and rib injuries that were “non-accidental.”

Booth, 31, of Sharpsburg, Georgia, told authorities for the past two to three weeks, he had allegedly abused the girl.

The child remains in the hospital. Her condition was not given.

Booth was charged with aggravated battery. His wife has not been charged.
