Middletown, PA — A 41-year-old woman was arrested after police say she choked and beat her 13-year-old daughter because she had the audacity to recite a few bible verses incorrectly.

It appears as if someone is channeling Margaret White….

The child told police her mom, Rhonda Kemp Shoffner, who had been on a three day bender, ordered her to call multiple family members on the afternoon of March 14. When no one answered the child’s calls, Shoffner ordered her into the bathroom and demanded that the child get on her knees.

At that point, the girl said, she knew she was in for a beating. But no amount of begging or pleading helped.

Shoffner began reciting bible verses and expected the girl to repeat them, verbatim.

Shoffner asked her child, “What did God tell the man to do with his son?”

When the girl said she didn’t know, Shoffner said, “God told the man to kill his son.”

Instead, the girl said, “God said to forgive his son,” and Shoffner grabbed her by the hair and slammed her head into the wall, police said.

Shoffner reportedly slammed the kid’s head into the drywall every time she goofed on a verse — about five times, total. Police say Shoffner kicked the kid a few times, too, in an attempt to get her point across.

Tired from all that violent preaching and stuff, Shoffner ordered the girl to lie on her back. She then straddled the child and began strangling her, while threatening to kill her.

While attempting to fight her mother off, the child was bitten on the forearm and shoulder. The girl kept fighting until Shoffner gave up and told her to “get out and never come back.”

Presumably more than happy to oblige, the kid grabbed her shoes, a coat, and a phone, and left the home. She called her father, who drove her to the police station.

Shoffner has since been charged with aggravated assault against a child, strangulation and terroristic threats. She’s been ordered held on $100,000 bail.

Well that was a real Christian thing to do!
I didn't even have to poke thru the Bible to share this:
"Suffer the little children to come unto Me, and hinder them not, for such is the Kingdom of Heaven. Verily I say unto you, whosoever harms a hair on the head of these, my little ones, it were better he have a millstone hung about his neck and be cast into the sea". (from the Gospel of John)

Can I get an AMEN!?

When the girl said she didn’t know, Shoffner said, “God told the man to kill his son.”

Instead, the girl said, “God said to forgive his son,”

This brought tears to my eyes.

Police filed child endangerment charges against Rhonda Kemp Shoffner, 41, of the first block of Genesis Court, following the incident on March 14.

The victim, who is under the age of 13, told police the assault occurred just after she awoke from a nap in her mother's home about 3 p.m.

Shoffner, who the victim said had been drunk for three days straight, told her daughter to call multiple family members, police said. When they didn't answer the calls, police said, Shoffner ordered her daughter to get on her knees in the bathroom.

Her daughter knew that meant Shoffner was going to beat her, police said. The victim was scared and pleaded with her mother, according to police in the charging documents.

Police said the victim told her mother, "please don't hit me. [....]

Shoffner became enraged and yelled at the victim, telling her "to get on her (expletive) knees," police said.

The girl complied, and Shoffner began quoting Bible verses, expecting the victim to repeat the lines verbatim, according to police.

"God told the man to kill his son."

Instead, the victim said, "God said to forgive his son," and Shoffner grabbed her by the hair and slammed her head into the wall, police said.

Each time the girl incorrectly recited a verse or gave her mother a wrong answer, Shoffner slammed her head into the wall, police said. Shoffner slammed her daughter's head into the bathroom drywall at least five times, according to police.

The victim tried to use her hands to defend herself, but Shoffner's kicks connected at least two times, police said. The girl repeatedly begged her mother to stop, but after her mother told her to lie on her back, she complied, police said.

The victim continued to fight her mother off until Shoffner said, "just leave and don't ever come back."

The girl grabbed a phone, a coat, sneakers and fled down the street. She called her father, who drove her to the police station.

This wasn't Shoffner's first brush with the law this year.

Police responded to an active domestic dispute at Shoffner's home after neighbors reported hearing arguing and banging there on Feb. 10.

officers heard a second-floor window open above.

Shoffner, who was half-naked, leaned out the window and screamed obscenities at the responding officers as she told them to get off of her property, police said.

She then gave the officers the middle finger and told them that if they came through her front door, she "got something for us," police said.

An officer from a neighboring municipality arrived to assist and they learned there was no reported victim at the scene, police said. Before they left, they told Shoffner they were going to report her to "housing" and that charges would be filed against her for her actions.

Following the incident, police filed charges of open lewdness and disorderly conduct against Shoffner.

Shoffner's preliminary hearings on both sets of charges are scheduled before District Judge David Judy on March 29.

Batshit crazy and drunk and can breed at will.
THAT is what is wrong in the world.

Zealot pig needs her tubes tied...
around her throat.

Poor little girl, she's probably been dealing with crap like this all her life. Crazy woman didn't just wake up last week and decide to become a vicious drunk. She's been a vicious drunk a really long time. I'm certain she's a vicious when she's sober, too.

Self medicating with alcohol. I'm not surprised by her behavior. She was too out of it to think straight.
No excuse but a Bender like that will turn the happiest of drunks into a brute.
She needs help clearly.

A mother who viciously beat her daughter when the girl got Bible verses wrong has been sentenced to prison in Pennsylvania on Wednesday, 25 October. 41-year-old Rhonda Shoffner faces two and a half to five years behind bars after pleading guilty to several charges.

Authorities had said that the 13-years-old girl was forced by Shoffner in March to kneel on a bathroom mat and answer questions about Bible verses. When the girl answered a question incorrectly, police said that Shoffner slammed her head into the drywall.

Dauphin County District Attorney's Office said that Shoffner had slammed her daughter's head into the wall at least five times. She then strangled her and told her she was going to kill her.

Fearing for her life, the girl attempted to fight off Shoffner, who bit her. She then told the girl to leave "and don't ever come back." The girl fled to her father, who took her to a police station.

Dauphin County Deputy District Attorney Sean McCormack said on Thursday (26 October): "This was an extremely scary situation for this young victim to have to endure. Fortunately she is doing well now and is in a safe place."

Shoffner pleaded guilty to charges of aggravated assault, strangulation, child endangerment and making terroristic threats. Authorities said she was intoxicated when the incident took place and would have to serve five years of probation after her prison term.

She was also told by Dauphin County Judge John F. Cherry that she would have to undergo drug and alcohol counselling and would be subject to random drugs and alcohol tests after her release.
