Two bodies were found in the search of two 13-year-old girls on a riverbank just hours after they posted a final eerie photo online while hiking in Indiana.

Police have not formally identified the bodies as Abigail Williams and Liberty German. For now they are just saying two bodies were found Tuesday afternoon near where the girls went missing along Deer Creek and said they suspect foul play.

However, people were posting their condolences on Williams' mother's Facebook page and police have 'scaled back' the search for the girls.

The bodies were discovered less than one mile away from the Monon High Bridge, where they were dropped off by family members at 1pm on Monday and were supposed to be collected later.

Both of the girls' cellphones either died or were powered off.

Last night, German's grandfather Mike Patty told WLFI: 'The cellphone has been pinging around town – and here there is a cellphone tower – but the ping was last noted around five to six hours ago. And they say the phone is now dead.'

The bridge is something of a local beauty spot and is where the final picture of Abigail Williams was taken by Liberty German, hours before they were reported missing at 5.30pm.

Foul play is suspected but police have yet to comment on how the victims died. They also wouldn't comment on the extent of their injuries because of how early it is in the investigation.

Police did not disclose in a press conference if there were any suspects or persons of interest at this point.
Right now it is considered a 'death investigation' and is not classified as a homicide. The teens were last seen at 1pm on Monday according to RTV6.

Abigail Williams fishes in a photo on Facebook. Two bodies were found Tuesday on a riverbank along Deer Creek

German's photo of Williams on Snapchat at 2.07pm is the last documentation of the girls.

'We’re just praying for their safe return. I’m upset and confused. Obviously, very distraught. I’m just worried.'

'All I want to do is have the girls get home safe,' Patty said.

Assistant Delphi Fire Chief Curtis Borden told the station the girls were discovered this morning but that it was 'not good.'

Williams and German were supposed to be picked up where they were dropped off a few hours later but never showed up.

Police said that family members dropped them off but it is not clear if it was a parent of either girl, or a sibling. The two were reported missing at 5.30pm Monday evening.

When the girls first went missing yesterday Fox 59 reported no foul play was suspected based off of the details the family gave police. Officers initially considered issuing an Amber Alert but decided the situation did not fit the criteria.

Initially, foul play was not suspected when Abigail Williams (left) and Liberty German (right) disappeared. German was last seen wearing a tie dyed t-shirt similar to the one pictured

Carroll County Sheriff Tobe Leazenby said in a written release yesterday: 'Based on information learned from friends and family members, police do not suspect foul play and have no information to believe the girls are in any kind of danger, other than being exposed to outside elements'

Anna Williams, Abigail's mother, told WLFI yesterday: 'I’m getting scared now. It’s getting cold and they’ve been out a long time. I don’t know what time they ate last.'

After the press conference where the dead bodies were found, people started posting condolences to Anna's Facebook page.

The Williams family appears to have an attachment to the bridge. Anna's cover photo is an artistic photo of the railroad.

The teens were hiking around Monon High Bridge which is known as a local photo spot

Police, firefighters and volunteers searched the area until around midnight Monday and restarted the search when it became light outside Tuesday morning.

A K-9 unit and a dive team were deployed to search for the teens.

Monon High Bridge does not have any guardrails. JConline reports the bridge is one of Indiana Landmark's 10 most endangered historic sites in the state.
Now they are hinting murder:

DELPHI, Ind. — Police didn't identified whose bodies were found Tuesday near Deer Creek, but common sense suggests it was 13-year-olds Liberty German and Abigail Williams who'd been missing since 5:30 p.m. Monday.

"We are investigating this as a crime scene," Indiana State Police Sgt. Kim Riley said at a press conference shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday. "We suspect foul play."

Riley, Carroll County Sheriff Tobe Leazenby and Delphi Police Chief Steve Mullins refused to say much more than that. They noted the bodies were found about 12:15 p.m. about half-mile to three-quarters of a mile upstream from a High Bridge which is part of the Delphi Historic Trails.

The search parties for German and Williams ended when the bodies were found, said Amanda Leader from Brookston, who volunteered to look for the missing girls.

German and Williams were dropped off at High Bridge, an abandon railroad truss, about 1 p.m. Monday, but when a family arrived later in the afternoon to pick up the girls, they weren't there. Families members searched the area, then reported them missing at 5:30 p.m. Monday, according to Leazenby...."
This is really gut wrenching it pisses me off that todays kids even in a place like this have to be on lookout 24/7. We use to run like wolves everywhere and there were a few quirky incidences but nothing that obviously amounted t my demise

First I was thinking they were doing the reckless selfie thing and fell to their doom, or that some awful people (other young people) did something for a thrill kill. They look like everyday nice geeky girls. Some missing/endangered/dead 13 yr old victims on DD look like 12 going on 30, misdirected, foolishly running to meet disaster, or had it cruelly slammed into them. Others were just having simple adolescent times when disaster struck.
Hope they solve this soon. So sad.

Lyric and Elizabeth were in IA. And were 8 and 10. Cousins. Riding bikes and poof!!!

Six months later their bodies were found by hunters in a wooded park. This was maybe 2012? Still unsolved. Several similar cases in that midwest area....all unsolved.
I can remember that one, definitely a sexual predator or two.

This is so heartbreaking. I can't begin to count the hours my friends and I wasted walking along the river as a kid. That kind of thing should be safe dammit! :(
I spent so much time in wood and swamp areas most adults were afraid of I was one with nature, lol, I loved it and it helped make me everything I am today imo
[doublepost=1487129919,1487119374][/doublepost]quick add from Heavy a they have things in that other reports didn't [just came out]:

"
Riley said they suspect foul play because of “the way the bodies were found, that’s about all I can say at this time.” "
According to police and family members, the girls phones pinged in multiple locations but were shut
off shortly after they were reported missing.

A woman who was at the bridge commented on a Facebook post by a family member of one of the girls, saying she had been at the bridge shortly after the girls posted the photo. She said she didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary.

“I even walked all the way across the bridge and back. I only (saw) a guy when I first got there and another couple once I got on the bridge,” Cheyenne Mekisha Engles wrote. “I didn’t see the girls at all. I also didn’t take the trail that leads to the right. Only took the trail that lead to the bridge.”

The bodies were found on the edge of the water, upstream, against the flow of the creek, police said.

Police have not yet called it a homicide case and have also not said if there are suspects at large, according to the Star."

I feel pretty confident that someone is going to be able to ID him based on these photos. It looks like he is wearing a holster of some kind.

Looks like it.

I cannot stop thinking about Abby and Libby. I really hope they get the guy and fast. :(

I am wondering if maybe one of the girls took them on her camera as dude came wandering towards them as they look pretty fucking clear -- unlike most surveillance camera pics we see on this site.

I don't think he has anything in his pants as it seems to me that it's just the sun/shadow effect on his legs as he steps along.

Police and federal agents executed a search warrant at an Indiana home Thursday night as part of an ongoing investigation into the double homicide of two teenage girls who were found dead on a hiking trail this week.

Indiana State Police Sgt Kim Riley said the warrant was obtained for a home in the 11000 block of Bicycle Bridge Road outside Delphi, 60 miles northwest of Indianapolis. A person living on the property was interviewed but no arrests were made.

Authorities were lead to the residence by tips that have been coming in since the bodies of Libby German, 14, and Abby Williams, 13, were discovered on Tuesday a quarter-mile from an abandoned railroad bridge.

Officers with the Indiana State Police, Carroll County Sheriff’s deputies and FBI agents took part in Thursday night's search, which, according to Sgt Riley, may be the first of many.

As more tips trickle in, police plan to search other properties in the hope of finding clues in the case, reported the station WLFI.

On Wednesday, police released two grainy photos of a man, dressed in jeans, a blue jacket and hat, walking along the city of Delphi's trail system around the time the teenage victims were dropped off to go hiking.

Carroll County Sheriff Tobe Leazenby said Thursday police just want to talk to the man about what he might have seen. Police said they have received about 200 tips about the person seen in the photos, including from as far as California, but so far, he has not been identified.

'We're not saying he's a suspect, we just want to talk to him to find out what he might have seen,' Sgt. Kim Riley, of Indiana State Police, told DailyMail.com on Thursday.

It is not clear if the mystery man is linked to the search warrant executed last night.
As part of the multi-agency murder investigation, a mobile command center was established for teams of agents at the municipal building on East Main Street in Delphi.

On Thursday, a satellite link was set up to provide a secure, direct link with FBI headquarters in DC and also with the Department of Homeland Security, local police said.

The move emphasizes law enforcement's concern over the double murder.

A new telephone tip line has been established in the case. The number is 844-459-5786. Callers can remain anonymous if they wish.

Abigail Williams, 13, and Liberty German, 14, went missing on Monday after going for a hike at 1pm near the Monon High Bridge along the Delphi Historic Trails.
Riley would not provide a specific time stamp for the picture or say how the image had been captured due to the ongoing investigation.

St Riley said that investigators had cleared a number of people who were in the Delphi Historic Trails area at the same time as the girls on Monday.

'At the moment we've talked to everybody that we feel that has been through there and none of them are coming up as suspect,' Riley said.

He added: 'Everybody is still a suspect but they went from high on the list to low on the list.'

Police were no longer posted at access points to the trail on Thursday after FBI specialists spent Tuesday and Wednesday gathering evidence at the scene.

German and Williams were dropped off on Monday near Monon High Bridge by German's sister to go for a hike on what was a winter holiday from school. The girls were reported missing by their families several hours later when they did not return.
The two friends were active on social media on their phones before they disappeared, with German posting final Snapchat images of Williams walking on the bridge, which is 60 feet above the creek, at 2:07pm.

The exposed, rickety wooden bridge in the photographs bears an eerie resemblance to the train tracks featured in movie Stand By Me, adapted from Stephen King novel, The Body. In the movie a group of young people find a body by the tracks.

The victims were found at 12:15pm on Tuesday about three-quarters of a mile upstream from the bridge, police said. A volunteer searching for the girls found their bodies on private property about 50-60 feet from the water.

Their cause of death and nature of injuries were not released.

Shit. Just realized that the odd shape in his jeans moves from his right leg to the left.

WTF? What is that?????

It's just the way the sunlight is hitting his pants and effecting the low quality image. Nothing to see here, obviously.

I saw where @golanvern said the same thing earlier. I guess y'all are right, but I SWEAR it looks angular with defined edges-like he has some tool or weapon hidden down the leg of the jeans.

Agreed, the resolution is poor.

The search warrant was executed at a home the police referenced as the "maxwell family Property" the home was owned by a James Maxwell of Delphi who passed. His son James jr. goes by Jim Maxwell. A search of his Facebook leads to one photo of him and his father and I do not want to be throwing around accusations but I'll be damned if he is not the same guy in the grainy photos!!!!
See for yourself. Just a hunch but I believe they already have this fu**er and are just playing the waiting game while they continue to gather evidence on him.
Here is his fb profile https://www.facebook.com/jim.maxwell.794
[doublepost=1487406358,1487405362][/doublepost]I can't help but to notice the more I look... his wife had posted some pictures of him as well as his daughter and in almost every picture his hands are in his pockets the same way, his shoulders slope the same way, and even looks to be wearing the same hat in some of those photos. I would be willing to bet that Jim Maxwell is the man in those photos.

Dollars to donuts that Maxwell is the guy.

I know it is all coincidental at this point....so hopefully DNA evidence :( will clear things up.
