A few more details were released this afternoon but Police said ballistics and interviews with witnesses will take several weeks.
News said he was given CPR by film crew because of 2 penetrating chest wounds.

Management for Bliss N Eso this afternoon released a statement with further details on the incident.

"The exact cause of Johann's fatal injury is still to be confirmed, but as the gun was loaded with blanks, not live ammunition, the cause was not a bullet or live round," the statement read.

"A licensed armourer was on location at the time to monitor the four firearms on site [one imitation, two handguns and one shotgun].

"Only professional stunt people were used in the scene that involved prop guns."

Yeah ... they're all hoping it was caught on tape because it takes special makeup and lot's of money to fake it.

That is what I suspected.

The sound of a gunshot is the result of the release of high-pressure gas used to propel the projectile. Blanks use a very fast-burning powder to create the high-pressure gas released to make the sound, along with a wad on top of the powder to confine the gas long enough to allow it to build pressure. A blank sends that wad down the barrel, and it disintegrates shortly after exiting the muzzle. NB: Not at the muzzle. That means that there is a hazard distance in front of the muzzle, and an individual within that hazard distance has a significant risk of being seriously injured or killed by that blank.

Blank-firing guns are not able to accommodate a live cartridge, and altering that state of affairs requires significant work and replacement of multiple components. Actual firearms modified to fire theatrical blanks are not capable of chambering live ammunition, and an attempt to fire live ammo in a modified firearm will cause very real problems ranging from property damage to personal injury.

TL;DR: Somebody on-set screwed up.

its the lining of the bathing suit, they had people on set for the fun use and he was a stunt man, so knew what he was dealing with.... alas things can always still go wrong...
