A Texas creep brought a Disney dress for what he thought was a 10-year-old girl in Florida and got nabbed in a federal child sex sting.

Federal agents in Florida said they caught Michael Doherty, 51, trying to meet up in a hotel room with a fake sexually abusive father and his kid earlier this month. Investigators had responded to a pervy online ad he posted and exchanged messages with Doherty in the guise of the dad for weeks......

Doherty had picked out a Disney dress for the girl to wear in the encounter while driving to rendezvous with the father and daughter in Lake Mary, near Orlando.....

The alleged deviant said in his ad that he enjoyed incestuous sexual relationships, and an undercover agent got the sting underway by messaging him in early March, according to the newspaper.

The feds claimed Doherty repeatedly wrote about sex with the girl, told the fake dad he had engaged in sex acts with kids in the past and supplied naked pictures of himself, the Sentinel reported.

He allegedly told undercover agents he had molested four kids between ages 8 and 12 within the last three years, WESH-TV reported. Law enforcement officials say he expressed reluctance to go through with the meet-up on the day he set off, according to the Sentinel.

But they arrested Doherty later that day. He’s in jail without bail at the John E. Polk Correctional Facility in Sanford, records from the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office show. Doherty faces up to life behind bars if he’s convicted for attempted sexual enticement of a minor, the Sentinel reported.

The sting suspect later told investigators he only wanted to speak with the father about the abuse and didn’t plan to meet with the girl, though he did confess to posting stories online about sex with kids for roughly a decade....

A federal judge in Orlando on Tuesday told a 51-year-old retired Army veteran that an honorable discharge from the military doesn't give him a license to sexually abuse children.

And although Michael Doherty isn't accused of ever hurting a child, the judge said the Texas dad fully intended to do just that.

Doherty, who pleaded guilty in June to a charge of attempted sexual enticement of a minor, was sentenced Tuesday to 14 years in federal prison, followed by 16 years of probation.

He asked the judge for a lesser sentence, saying he has accepted responsibility for what he's done and never intended on going through with his plan. A plan investigators say was to meet who Doherty thought was a dad and his 10-year-old daughter for sex.

Doherty's lawyer argued his 24 years of military service and deployments to include Afghanistan and Iraq "changed" him. Doherty received treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder and his overseas "experience may have played a crucial role in the behavior which is the basis of this case," his lawyer wrote in court documents.

His military discharge records show he was inactive for more than 21 years.

He has been married for 17 years, has a master's degree in military arts and sciences, and before the "very serious" episode, Doherty was the "ultimate soccer father," taking his 14-year-old son to practice and to coach the team, his lawyer said Tuesday.

Doherty told the judge he's "deeply ashamed" and the damage he's done to his son is "egregious."

While fighting back tears and with his parents in the courtroom, Doherty said his goal for the rest of his life is to make up for what he's done to his son. He said he has accepted responsibility for what he has done and insisted he never intended to actually hurt a child.

Judge Carlos Mendoza disagreed, saying "the court does not need a sexually abused child" to see Doherty is a "dangerous person."

"This was more than curiosity," Mendoza said.

Only 14 years in prison? I'm amazed. America normally isn't afraid to rock out the hard sentencing.

This animal knew what he was going to do. Probably salivated all the way on the drive there. And yeah by his own admission has been feverishly fantasizing and committing horrendous acts of evil against other innocent children.

What the holy fuck was the Judge thinking? The Judge rejected his begging, 'Oh I swear, your honour. I wasn't going to rape and molest her, after plotting and planning to rape and molest her!'

His 'aged parents' should be ashamed of themselves for fronting up to court and supporting him during the trial. Your son is a filthy pedophile. He actively sought out and planned to destroy the life of a little girl - just so he could achieve an orgasm.

We all know this scum will have a terrible time in jail as a result of his crime. But in his early 50s, thanks to that weak sentence, he'll be out soon enough.

And he'll be young enough to still write lurid, vomit inducing sex stories about destroying little children for him and others like him to feverishly masturbate over. He'll be young enough to try and hook up with another innocent little child and destroy their life.

Fuck, we see and hear about men in their 80s who are doing this shit. Apparently age is no barrier when it comes to the sex drive of a pedophile. He'll just pop some Viagra or Cialis anyway, if he needs help to fulfil his 'needs'.

If he ever writes another obscene story that allows another pedo to enjoy. If he ever molests another child. If he ever gets the chance to try and setup an opportunity where he can destroy another child - then this piece of shit Judge better be locked up alongside him.

You don't keep kids safe from active pedophiles by giving those filthy animals the freedom again to carry on with their obscenities.

We can't cure him. Can't fix him. Can't prevent him when he's free, of doing terrible stuff to kids. He is a known, dangerous quantity. Just pop 2 in the back of the head and be done with it.
