AURORA, Colo. (CBS4)– A suspected hit-and-run driver crashed into a day care in Aurora on Wednesday afternoon.
Police say it all started with a report of a two-vehicle hit-and-run crash at E. Yale Avenue and South Parker Road. The suspect vehicle, a blue Dodge Dart, sped away from the scene northbound on South Parker Road.
Police pursued the vehicle in an attempt to stop the vehicle but the driver continued driving, eventually pulling into the Havana Gardens shopping Center. The officer followed as the driver continued to drive erratically through the parking lot.
Police said the Dart accelerated out of the lot, across all lanes of Havana Street and into the King Soopers parking lot area where the driver struck a parked car.
The driver lost control and drove into the Bright Stars Child Care day care at 1155 S. Havana Street.
The suspect driver was taken into custody and is suspected of driving under the influence of drugs.
Two children and an adult female employee were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
