FORT PIERCE — A former Port St. Lucie police officer will spend the rest of his life in prison related to multiple federal child exploitation convictions, a federal judge ordered on Monday.

Michael Edwin Harding, 28, was sentenced in federal court in Fort Pierce after pleading guilty in February to three counts of distributing material involving sexual exploitation of minors, possession of material involving sexual exploitation of minors, attempting to coerce and entice a minor to engage in sexual activity, and producing child pornography, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel Funk, who prosecuted the case.

Harding, who joined the Port St. Lucie police in 2012 after previously working as a Fort Pierce police officer, appears to have accessed pornography via cellphone while on the job at night as a police officer.

The case stemmed from an investigation started by a federal agent in Wilmington, Delaware.

Through use of a search warrant, investigators found a thumb drive, linked to Harding, containing "hundreds of images of videos of children engaged in sexually explicit conduct, " including pornographic images of a 6-year-old boy, a court document said.

Then you add in that he is a Policeman. He represents authority and legality in our societies. Most kids are taught to trust that uniform, to go to a Policeman if they are in danger.

Now think about those children. Crying, scared out of their wits. Bruised and battered. Their private parts in extreme pain. Lying on a filthy mattress. Having cruel, obscene, sickening things done to them - while a Policeman watches on. Not helping them. Or stopping this. Or protecting them.

Imagine the misery, both physical and emotional that all these victims of child sex predators feel. The pain in their hearts, their bodies and their minds.

Do you really think that someone who gets off on this, who uses recordings of this, who organizes these acts and who tries to rope innocent little babies into suffering this - SO THAT HE CAN DROOL AND WANK AND FANTASIZE over their pure suffering - does NOT deserve a life sentence?

I merely pointed out the FACT that people rarely get such a harsh sentence merely for doing the whole Catch a Predator attempted meetup thing. I do want to say, I do think Strity just misinterpreted the information - ordinarily, her posts are very compassionate towards children - I do think she just hadn't read it all thoroughly. As for Jack, well, he's either a troll, or a very bitter person. Whatever he is, ultimately, he's certainly not my problem, or my focus.
