A desperate search is underway after a four-day-old baby went missing in the early hours today from the room where his mother and father were sleeping.

The newborn's mother called 911 after waking at 4.30am on Thursday to find her son Kayden Powell missing from his bassinet in a room where she was sleeping at a home

The officer said that there were no signs of a break-in at the home and police said it was being processed as a crime scene.

No one in or around the home reported anything suspicious, according to police reports.

The mother, who just turned 18, and father were at the police station waiting to be interviewed along with two other people who were at the house on Wednesday night.

The homeowner of the property where the family were staying is listed as 46-year-old Mark Bennett who has a history of arrests for battery and criminal misdemeanors.

The FBI and Wisconsin Department of Justice are helping local authorities in the search

The Rock County Sheriff's Office had provided 16 staff at the scene, including all members of its detective bureau and its special investigations unit.

Kopp says the incident is not believed to be a custody dispute. The chief says an Amber Alert was not issued because the disappearance doesn't meet the criteria.

An Amber Alert is only issued if the child is at risk of serious injury or death and there is sufficient descriptive information of child, captor or captor's vehicle.

The baby was born at Beloit Memorial Hospital. He is African-American, 20 inches long, 6 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes, according to police.

The Town of Beloit Police Chief says a person of interest in the disappearance of 5-day-old Kayden J. Powell has been taken into custody in West Branch, Iowa.

The chief says the woman, Kristen Smith, was arrested in connection to a fraud warrant out of Texas. Smith has not been charged in the disappearance of Kayden, who is still missing at this time.

Police say the child's mother, Brianna Marshall, and father, Bruce Powell, have been cooperating with authorities since reporting the infant missing Thursday morning.

Family members say Kristen Smith presented herself to them as Brianna Marshall's sister on Brianna's father's side of the family.

Family members also say Marshall and Smith had talked about moving to Colorado after the baby's birth.

Town of Beloit Police Chief Steve Kopp confirms Smith told authorities about the plan to move to Colorado with Marshall, Bruce Powell and young Kayden Powell.

Kopp also confirms articles of baby clothing were with Smith, but Kayden was not.

So if they think Smith took the baby & they have her in custody, who's got the baby now?! Hope she lets them know where she stashed him!

Ya know, there has been NOTHING new in the Aniston Walker case. (7 month old baby "taken from home.")

Police say they have interviewed eight people in this case. All of those interviewed were known to be in the house within 12 hours of the time the 5-day-old baby was reported missing.

One of those people was Kristen Smith, the woman who was arrested around 5:30 this morning in Iowa. She is not a suspect in the case.

Police say all eight people they have interviewed have been cooperative. There were four at the home when the baby was reported missing: the mother, father, a brother of the mother and a great grandmother.

There was no forced entry into the home. Police say this is still an active search.

It’s a parent’s worst nightmare having their baby disappear in the middle of the night. Police say the
family is cooperating and there is still a lot of activity going on at the house on Homeland Court where Kayden Powell disappeared.

FBI now involved in search of Kayden Powell, missing newborn from #Beloit #Wisconsin

The Federal Bureau of Investigation was called in this morning to help police near the Wisconsin-Illinois border find a missing four-day-old child.

Kayden Powell was discovered missing around 4:30 this morning from her mother's house in the town of Beloit. Two people were questioned about their presence at the home last night, but officials said no arrests have been made. Beloit Town Police Chief Steven Kopp said authorities were examining the house late this morning -- and they're mobilizing all the resources they can. FBI spokesman Leonard Peace said local authorities asked his agency to help out. He would not say whether the child may have been taken outside Wisconsin. The town of Beloit partially surrounds the City of Beloit, which touches the Illinois state line. City police and sheriff's deputies are also involved in the investigation.

At 10:15 this morning, police found missing newborn Kayden Powell in a tote bag swaddled in blankets at a gas station near I-80 in Iowa. Despite frigid temperatures, he was found alive and well, Town of Beloit police said in a press conference Friday.

The investigation is ongoing,

The baby's 18-year-old mother called 911 after waking about 4:30 a.m. Thursday to find that her son, Kayden Powell, was missing from his bassinette in a room where she was sleeping at a home in the Town of Beloit, authorities said.

Police said Thursday night that about 40 officers from federal, state and local law enforcement agencies were working on the case, including the FBI, but no suspects have been identified and no have been arrests made.

Hmmm, Found at a Gas Station on Interstate 80 in Iowa, The Aunt was arrested in Iowa Yesterday.....
Not to tough to figure out who the suspect is....

180 miles away? He sure as hell didn't walk there. It's the same town where they took "auntie" into custody.

A Wisconsin newborn that was reported missing has reportedly been found, safe, in Iowa.

Kayden Powell was just five days old when his mother, 18-year-old Brianna Marshall, reported him missing. Marshall said she awoke at about 4:30 a.m. Thursday, February 6, 2014 and discovered Kayden was gone from his bassinette.

Kristen Smith, 31, who is reportedly Marshall’s half-sister, was also at the home but reportedly left in the early-morning hours before Kayden was reported missing.

Police said they contacted Smith, who is from Denver, Colorado, by phone and then in person at the Kum and Go along Interstate 80 in West Branch, Iowa. Smith was arrested on an unrelated Texas warrant about an hour after Kayden was reported missing.

FBI agents were reportedly sent to Cedar County, Iowa to meet with Smith.

The day after he was reported missing, police held a news conference announcing Kayden had been found just after 10 a.m. Friday, February 7 in West Branch.

Kayden was reportedly inside a duffel bag at a BP gas station near I-80, across the street from the location where Smith was arrested a day earlier.

If the duffel bag was found almost 24hrs later at the Gas Station across the street, Can you imagine how bad the bathrooms must look?
:Shudder: I am guessing they don't get cleaned all that often......

At approximately 10:15 a.m. on Friday, a police chief in West Branch, Iowa was conducting a canvass of a gas station near Interstate 80. He apparently heard a baby’s cry and found Kayden in a tote bag swaddled in blankets just outside of the gas station.

Despite the frigid temperatures, Kayden appears to be doing well. Emergency officials say the child is in excellent health.

Kayden’s family has been notified of this news — and efforts are now being concentrated on reuniting Kayden with the family.

I find it astounding that the baby could have been left out all night and survived.

Yipppppeeeee!!! Now bust that "Auntie" for leaving that little baby out in the cold all that time, cause you know she did it, a random kidnapper didn't just happen to be going the same way "Auntie" was going and at the same time. And if she'd told where he was they would have found him quicker, she didn't care about him at all or she wouldn't have left him to die, cause he would have if he'd been left much longer. I'm so glad he's found, hope this is figured out very very quick
