i was all happy cuz i thought me and my baby (the one that's not in my tummy) were gonna smoke and play zelda twilight princess. well in this one room i need to get rid of this people eating plant w another bad guy that turns into a ticking bomb when he gets stunned or hit once. sooo since ive played this game b4 i know that the bomb bug is supposed to be able to follow me, allowing me to lure it to any suspicious cracks in walls, or allow me to carry it when it's flashing so i can throw it on or drop it into one of those mean people chomping plants.
weeeeelllllll its not working out that way. i wonder if the cord that links my wii nunchuk and wiimote is fucked up because every damn time i try to go up to mr bomb bug when hes flashing, i'll do some dumbass shit like roll past him and take my sword out and slash and go hi-ya! even though the highlighted action CLEARLY says 'pick up'! and thats if i can even get the thing stunned. i try to lock on him but the lock goes away and i have to scramble to defend myself at the last second, and i'm supposed to be able to lure it closer to my target i want to bomb so i have time to get it there and the shit doesnt keep exploding in my hands. how is this user error? ok maybe it didnt help throwing my controller across the room but wtf people? either some asshole programmed the shit to not even be consistent in how it does things other than what the highlighted action says when i push the designated button (which ok i'll admit in this case is not likely since i played the shit fine last time when i first got it), or i'm the biggest idiot moron out there for not being able to get thru the FIRST FKIN TEMPLE OF THE GAME (which same, since i kicked its ass before), or people need to get over their obsessive need to replace god with technology because we make a bunch of shit that fails and is not consistent anyway. oh i'm so mad!!
eta: roc goes, you have to be smarter than the game ali, which i admit i took rather personally even if he did mean it as a joke. i said here you try it! he's still working on it. even though i'm so aggro i still think its cute that Mr. Zen is over there calmly going 'hmmm!' everytime i wouldve been screaming at the thing.

Donkey Kong Country Returns.
The Wii version (very similar to Donkey Kong Country for SNES)

We spent months trying to advance to a new map. Countless times, we played and replayed that level. Earlier maps got replayed so many times, as I stockpiled balloons (more lives.) Only to die over and over again. In the exact same spot. Every time.

Finally beat the level and advance to the next map. Before my kid to promptly, accidently erase the wrong data slot- We lost all of our progress. Literally MONTHS of replaying old levels trying to advance. Wasted. Before we even got to move on. I put the remotes in my desk drawer at work for awhile after that. Yep. As soon as mini vowed he would avenge our map, the remotes mysteriously disappeared. :hilarious:

For Christmas, We just got one of those mini SNES systems with all of the original games loaded on it. We have been geeking out to all the old games (the ones I grew up playing- Mario Kart, Zelda, Street Fighter, Mega man, Contra, Super Mario World... was highly disappointed Paperboy wasn't included BTW.)

Bf and I were just talking about buying this earlier today! He said it had an HDMI cable. I was like, WHY?!? :hilarious:

Is it worth it? I'm a little torn about how much we'd actually use it once the nostalgia has worn off.

I think it has to do with the way it was worded. I honestly had to read that sentence three or four times myself. It literally reads like the two of you were going to smoke together.

As for the topic on hand. I'm not a big video game player. I mostly play guitar hero, so I would have to say wanting to throw the plastic guitar on through the fire and flames happened more than once.

I can't help y'all but I thought I'd tell you how I used to play the original Zelda. I was the map maker and the navigator. I had to tell my husband at the time which way to go every freaking time he played. Then I mapped all the dungeons (or whatever they were called) with whatever monsters or little critters where in there and where they were and what they did.:p

Then I sat back and laughed at him and the kids havng meltdowns over it. :D

My older son still loves Zelda, he has every game, old and new. Tho he don't need me to draw maps for him anymore.:(

well tbh since i've been pregnant i have smoked weed a few times here and there, which usually results in me coughing and puking on the first hit and turning down any more. it's hard to not automatically go to hit the weed anytime i get nauseous esp because ive been approved for medical mary for a few years now due to nausea. so fair enough. i totally intended to take a bong hit w my man and i did. i just didn't expect to get downvoted because of it. true, idk what about my post ppl had a problem with, but i figure its either the weed thing or my comment about humans desparately trying to replace god with technology. i really dont see the problem with either statement but can't fig out what else could be the problem. oh well what the hell.

that's hilarious and awesome! i bet people used to the game back in the day woulda shit themselves over the same pixels on a fancy schmancy new tv like that hehe! but to us modern spoiled folk, it still looks crappy, even on a nice screen!

that was super sweet of u to draw out the maps! i'm a Link freak, i like all the zelda games but my FAVE game of all time is Zelda: Ocarina of Time <3
i'm guessing that's prob yr sons fave too?

i have no idea, to tell you the truth, I just know he counts the days every time a new Zelda comes out. He just recently bought the throwback console, I think I go that right, so he can play the Zelda that's on that one.

I drew the maps because that what I was good at, they played the game because they could do that. But we did it as a family activity and that's really the best part about it.

I'm guessing it was the late '80's Chris was about 10 and Corey was 5 and it was just so much fun. In fact one year I made Corey a Link costume to wear for Hallowe'en, most people at the time didn't have a clue who he was dressed as. They'd say Who? LOL

They are 38 and 33 now, but still gamers, just they can't do all the time, they do have to work sometimes. LOL

LMAOOOO!
HDMI cord. We laughed about it too, until we had the realization that if it came with old school red n black plugs we wouldn't be able to hook it up... biggest downfall? Literally 2 foot controller cords though- that's why they are sitting so close to the tv.. (Of course, Nintendo sells extensions for the cords though..)
Ours was a gift and its pretty cool. It comes preloaded with all of the original SNES and NES (except Paperboy:shifty:.) We have had fun with it so far. It's cool. It will be great when the cord extensions arrive. It's reliving the past a bit..

And it has the only Mario Kart game that I can actually beat my kid in. Lol lol :shame:

i usually spend the most time in zelda games wracking my brain trying to figure out the water temples/ levels.
oh here are my 2 fave sleep tunes which are from ocarina of time. very helpful to sleep to!

A friend bought me Dark Souls 2 and I'm afraid to touch it tbh

Last time I got frustrated with a game was replaying Final Fantasy Tactics. There's a boss battle, Roof of Riovanes Castle, against Marquis Elmdor (he's a bastard) and 2 Assassins (also bastards) and you have to protect Rafa. The problem is Rafa has like maybe 200 HP. Elmdor's attacks take off half of that and the Assassins can cast Ultima, which your main character isn't even able to learn until the next chapter. There's a save point right before the boss battle; it's a blessing and a curse because 1) you will die and 2) if you aren't equipped and leveled properly, you keep dying. This is why people alternate save files

I have never played a game that required a controller, but I do enjoy board games. I have never thrown any pieces, but have been tempted a few times.

The death of many a TV and Controller.

I played it once or twice, same with Bloodbourne, got pissed off at the game, gave up. I don't have the time to put into them like I hear all these people do, so I play for fun, those games look awesome but were not fun for me.

Give me Borderlands, Saints Row, GTA (although that can get frustrating), Fallouts and Elder scrolls... I am content.

I played one of the first resident evils way back in the day and there was this level that you played as Hunk and it’s was basically just a maze of shit to go through. Me, hub, and our friends spent fucking days and hours trying and trying. One evening, hub and buddies left to go get beer and I beat the level NO WITNESSES. I kicked the PS, broke the memory card out of the slot... yadda yadda. All because nobody seen me do it. Again, I over reacted and got pissy cause I accomplished something, yes, yes, I know, dumb bitch alert here. Thankfully it saved my play point and I could prove it. Still, unstable bitch here. I still own all of my game systems except for my regular Nintendo.

Im not really a gamer. But, I used to be addicted to donkey Kong country.
My mom was addicted to Paperboy on Super Nintendo. She never touched another game after she stopped playing.

The first GTA killed me, playing as a dot on a crap map, how things have changed

I was also a big fan of the first Metal Gear Solid. Beat up a few controllers over a few games, especially DOOM.

Ha! One of my fonder memories of my grandfather is of him playing pinochle at his house with my grandmother and another couple. He was not having a lucky evening, we'll say.

Eventually he stood up and, without saying a word, chucked the deck of cards into the burning fireplace, grabbed his truck keys, and left.

Everyone was just like, wtf??? Looking at each other like this: :wideyed::wideyed::wideyed::wideyed:

After maybe 20 minutes he came home, sat down (again without a word), opened up the new deck he'd just purchased, and started dealing like he'd never been gone. :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:
