The girl who survived being drugged, tied up and raped while Aleaya Marie Jackson was strangled is getting death threats from people who either think she should have done something to save her, or that she bears some responsibility.

“She’s getting death threats from the girl’s friends,” a woman who spoke on condition of anonymity told the Daily Commercial.

The girl, who is not being identified by the Daily Commercial, is “a fighter,” the woman said. She did everything she could to defend herself and Jackson in the Bushnell house on South Pine Street, said the woman, who is a relative of the survivor.

Meanwhile, rape and murder suspect Larry Peavy, 35, is still on the run.

The trouble began at about 4 p.m., according to court records. The girl said she was talking to Peavy and her best friend Jackson on a cell phone, on Facebook Messenger and in text messages.

“She didn’t know this man,” the woman said.

Jackson’s mother, Nycole Jackson, described Peavy as “Uncle Larry” in an interview on WFTV Tuesday. He was a close friend of the family, said Felicia Jenkins, who is Aleaya’s aunt.

Aleaya and Peavy picked up the girl at Wooton Park. He said he was taking them to “a hangout” in Bushnell. The girl said she remembered seeing the number 308 on the house.

The girl told detectives they began smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol when Peavy forced ecstasy tablets down her throat.

She said, “her memory of the incident fades in and out,” partly because of the drugs, and also due to “Larry strangling her to an unconscious state several times throughout the night.”

Peavy kept trying to get her to have sex with him and offered to pay, upping the amount of money each time. She refused.

Finally, he said they could sleep in a separate bedroom. She said he came into the room while they were sleeping and tried to put tape over her mouth. She kicked him and woke up Jackson in the process. Jackson told Peavy to leave her friend alone, that she didn’t want to have sex with him. “He appeared aggravated by Jackson saying that,” the report said.

He left the room and the girls locked the door and put bricks against it “because Larry was high and acting weird.”

Shortly afterward he broke down the door and overpowered them “because of all the narcotics he gave them.”

Peavy tied up the girl’s wrists and gagged Jackson and put tape over her mouth.

The girl said she began yelling for help but Peavy threatened her with a box cutter. He put a sock in Jackson’s mouth and strangled her to the point of unconsciousness. He then took the girl into his bedroom, where he raped her for hours while drinking and popping pills and forced her to drink and swallow pills.

Sometime early Sunday she convinced him to untie her and talked him into taking her home so she could get money to buy drugs. When he got near her home she jumped out of the car and got away.

She told her mother what happened. She called police and an ambulance.

Court records indicated the girl remembered a long Wi-Fi number from the house. The woman who spoke to the Daily Commercial said the girl remembered that there was Wi-Fi in the house, so deputies took her phone and located the Wi-Fi signal that had been recorded in her phone.

Inside the house, they found Jackson had been strangled with ligatures.

“The last time she saw her friend, she was alive,” the woman said.

A police report released Thursday quoted a neighbor who said Peavy was “standing by the road drinking with a black female, and what looked to be a Hispanic female around 3 a.m. .... She stated they were partying and appeared to be having a good time.”

The report also quoted the landlord, who said he had known Peavy for about eight months and let him stay in the house that he had inherited from his parents because it was in need of repairs and Peavy “had fallen on hard times.”

... wtf on blaming the surviving victim?

She's a goddamn hero for escaping and warning people about what was going on at all.

Yeah, she made a mistake, its what kids do. BUT she tried to save herself and her friend, no way of knowing he'd actually kill her.

All the assholes blaming her for this? Yeah, no. Blame the grooming, rapist pos.

Sumpter County Police suspect 35-year-old Peavy — an alleged longtime family friend of the girl — for both the murder of Jackson and a related sexual assault, according to a press release.

“We let him stay here,” Aleaya’s mother, Nicole Jackson, told Channel 9. “He stayed here months at a time sometimes.”

Peavy reportedly brought Jackson and her friend to a party at the Bushnell home, where investigators say he beat and sexually assaulted both girls, and murdered Jackson. He then drove the girl to Tavares, where she was able to contact the detectives.

During the night of the incident, Nicole Jackson says she received a disturbing text from Alaeya’s friend.

“The text that she sent said that (Peavy) told her she was not allowed to see Aleaya because Aleaya was unconscious, and he proceeded to take (her) home,” Jackson said. “I knew then in my heart that she wasn’t coming home.”

Jackson says she is having a difficult time accepting that their family friend, Peavy, could do something so horrendous.

“She called him Uncle Larry,” Jackson said. “They had a song together. They were just cool with each other.”

Miachael Lee Jenkins, Aleaya’s father and a coworker of Peavy, said that the suspected killer recently had started making sexually inappropriate comments about his daughter at work.

“The devil just came and took something from me,” Jenkins said. “I’m numb within and it’s only the Holy Spirit that’s keeping me together.”

It would appear the girl's family didn't give to much of a shit that a "family friend" took two 16 year old nubile young girls to a "party", that it was known that he was interested in spearing the bearded clam with at least one of them and that the family wasn't concern that the teens were out all night until the girl made it back in the morning and told them what happened. Also, the girls were texting before, yet there is no indication teen rapist (and murderer) Larry took the phones away. WFT? There is a shit more that isn't being told or someone is lying, probably both. Not that this excuses the death threats, its just that the story of the night of the rape and murder isn't adding up.

How is she a hero? She escaped from a terrible situation which she initially willingly walked into thinking she would get booze and weed. The results were horrifying.
She's a survivor.

She was in survivor mode trying to get herself and her friend out of it. She freed herself but it was already too late for her friend. She is a hero. She got help there...so sad it was too late.

I think people in the community are prob more mad that she talked to authorities regarding the matter.

In low income urban environments, there is a firmly held belief amongst even the most respected, highest members of said society that individuals who communicate with police officers deserve, and will likely get, lacerations deep enough to require suturing to mend.

That's some fucked up shit when a community would rather a rapist be free rather than getting his ass off the street to prevent him doing this to someone else's daughter, sister or mother.

I give up. Our society is fucked.

The death threats are being towards the surviving victim because they are blaming her for Aleya's death. Not because she ID'ed the rapist.

It does to go back with help for the one left behind.

o_O Huh?

She didn't go looking for her. The article says that the deputies took her phone to look for the wi-fi signal.
[doublepost=1511477820,1511477686][/doublepost]Who uses the word "ligature" outside an operation room?

Maybe she was confused about the location? Drugs will do that...

And that's why you don't get paid to think. @JackBurton! It'd be a piss poor way to make a living

It seems like a lot of you read this article with shit colored glasses. Reading some of the comments is a study in victim blaming.

Unfortunately, Jack has a point, living here in Baltimore the "Stop Snitching" message is fully entrenched, not only will witnesses of crimes won't give information, but almost every day an actual attempted murder victim who is wounded is reported in the local news that they are not cooperating with police.

As for victim blaming, I'm sure if most of us here are sounding critical of a victim it does not mean we are giving a criminal a pass, we are just flabbergasted by the failure of using common sense by the victim, or in this case the family (or at least I am). Here's a couple of examples. We are told not to leave packages in our cars in plane sight for a thief to steal, but if we do and a scumbag steals them that doesn't exonerate the criminal, it just shows we failed to use common sense to protect our belongs from the shitheads of the world. Also, we have the right to express our views without repercussions as long as we are not hurting anyone, but I know if a walk into a biker bar and express an opinion that bikers are no good pieces of shit and anyone who wears leather is a twink looking for a bear, well I'm pretty sure I'm going to have a rough time after that. No body deserves to be a victim, but there are times when we just shake our head when we see what are obviously unwise decisions a victim made that lead up to a bad incident and wonder "Don't they know there are bad people in this world? Why would you do that?"

I'm not saying "Stop Snitching" isn't a thing, just saying in this article/case, it seems that the threats are coming from a different source:

Yes, she should make better decisions, hopefully as she grows up she will gain maturity.

It's interesting to think about the psychology behind the comments.

A man accused of brutally raping and murdering a 16-year-old girl has been arrested.

Sumter County sheriff's detectives arrested Larry Peavy Friday afternoon in a Lake County Parking lot.

Peavy is accused of raping and killing Aleaya Marie Jackson, of Bushnell, in November.

Sumter County Deputies believe Jackson and another girl were partying with Peavy. Detectives said both girls were raped and Jackson's body was later found inside the home they were in.

Aleaya's mother told WESH 2 News that Peavy was a family friend.

After Aleaya death, investigators found Peavy's car in Fort Pierce where his sister lives.

This fucktard has already done 3 separate stints in the big house for crimes including, burglary, evading, possession of illicit drugs with intent to distribute, resisting arrest and assaulting firefighters/EMS. Now this tired looking hooligan can add rapist/murderer to his business card.

Love these local news stories. Didn't realize what a fucked up area this place was till we moved here. And I knew Florida was not right.

It's not all bad! Lots of lakes for water skiing and the beach is always an hour or less away!

Make a day trip to Mt. Dora and do some antiquing and have lunch. You might like Florida a bit more!

WTF? If she had a cell phone with her at the house, why didn't she call 911 then? She's fucking stupid and probably only called later because her parents told her to.

It’s Sumter County not Sumpter County.

Trauma & drugs— and it’s really easy to second guess victims’ actions. The teen brain is smart enough to understand bad things can happen but not mature enough yet to realize it’s not worth the risk.

A man who took two Tavares teenage girls to his home in Sumter County where he plied them with liquor and drugs, overpowered them, tied them up and raped them, killing one of them, pleaded guilty Wednesday and was sentenced to life in prison.
Larry Peavy, a family friend of the slain girl, Aleaya Jackson, apologized to the girls’ families with tears running down his cheeks.

“I know I can’t bring them back,” he said in a three- to five-minute speech, according to his attorney, Executive Assistant Public Defender John Spivey. Peavy said he would take their place if he could.
Circuit Judge Mary Hatcher sentenced him to life in prison without parole on six charges: three counts of rape likely to cause injury, two counts of armed kidnapping, and first-degree murder.
