Detectives were able to recover nearly 30 minutes of chilling audio recordings from the phone of an Abilene rape victim.

Court documents unsealed Wednesday detail the case that led to the arrest of Abilene man Ethan Carlile, 25, stating he's accused of sexually assaulting a former co-worker who went to his apartment one night in September of 2017.

The victim told police she had received a message from Ethan asking if she wanted to hang out, and she agreed because she thought she was talking to a different Ethan, but when she arrived and realized it was Carlile, she was "embarrassed by the confusion and didn't say anything", eventually going inside, according to the documents.

The documents state she then had a drink and took 3-4 muscle relaxers before passing out while watching a movie.

Once she woke up, the documents state she noticed her pants were around her ankles and there was other evidence of sexual assault on her body and the floor.

The last thing she heard before leaving was Ethan apologizing and telling her that "he thought she knew what she was doing and that he didn't realize she didn't know," according to the documents.

When going through her phone the next morning, the victim found 2 audio recordings she didn't recognize. The documents state the victim heard herself saying "no please stop" in these recordings.

Detectives were later able to recover nearly 30 minutes of audio from the recordings, and the entire time, the victim can be heard saying "no, stop, please stop, ow it hurts, Ethan stop".

The documents state a male, presumably Carlile, was heard in the background at one point talking to a 3rd party, saying "I'm sorry. I don't know what I am doing, you need to get up here."

Police believe Carlile created these recordings with his phone thinking his phone was the victim's.

Carlile was brought in for questioning and the documents state he initially denied having sexual contact with the victim then changed his story and said there was brief sexual contact but "he did not hear the victim tell him no once".

What exactly did she think was going to happen after taking, depending upon the relaxer, 2-4x more then normal dosing along side what I assume was a stiff drink? I'm not excusing what happened or victim blaming but at some point people need to stop putting themselves in bad situations. This is a bad situation even without the rape.

Muscle relaxants aren't known for making people lively, they aren't a party drug and they come with many, many warnings on them saying a normal dose can knock you on your ass. I wouldn't even take that combo on my own, let alone in a situation where I was expected to be semi social and functioning enough to find my way home later.

Rapist POS.
Break out the hedge clippers and a hammer.
Time to make some "Private Parts Pate"

Hope the victim gets some help.
Like perhaps helping her understand not to take meds that will put you out cold with a sketchy neckbearded guy determined to Netfux and Rape.

Come on!

You realized it was a different Ethan. You still went into his apartment anyway.

THEN you had a drink.

THEN you took 3-4 muscle relaxers?! To mix with your alcohol?

I’m sorry. At some point accountability is ‘a thing’. What he did is disgusting. However she needs to re-examine her life choices. As well as understand that sometimes you make yourself more likely to be victimized.

Which is exactly what she did.

Sounds like victim blaming. Accountability belongs to the perp. I don't care if she was buck nekkid, wandering up and down the street. NO MEANS NO. Drunk, high, tired, goofy>... NO MEANS NO.
Now I'm mad because I remember. I wish I could stick my finger thru my eyeballs and pull every memory out.

This is what I went thru at 12
Why did you go to see him? why didn't you run for the door? why didn't you go to the police? Why didn't you fight back? What were you doing there anyway?
I STILL want to hunt them down...and beat the liver and lights out of them. Shove their faces into a mattress. Ignore the screams. Oh, there is so much more.

There's more but I don't want to write War and Peace. I do want to find Roy Moore and cut off his weewee...I won't do it, but I LUV thinking about it.

Do not blame victims. Most of us have PTSD. I do. It's been my constant companion for 56 years. It still is. That's why I have to go to my shrink. I like him, make him laugh!

I don't excuse what he did. Not at all. Nor am I blaming her for the rape. I blame her because she is an idiot. What if she drove home in that state? She wasn't planning to stay there, she didn't even want to be there after she found out it was the wrong Ethan but stayed because she was embarrassed. What she did was stupid. Plain and simple.

I will say this, as someone who's been raped twice and sexually assaulted once..she bares responsibility with some of her actions prior to what happened. Not for the rape itself, but for events that lead up to it because lets face it, she wasn't walking down the road minding her own business when a rapist jumped her from the bushes. She wasn't drugged with any date rape concoction. She willing took meds that suppress normal muscle function and cause drowsiness and coupled it with alcohol. She didn't take them for pain, that kind of dosing is to get high. From how it's describe he didn't even offer her them, if he had it definitely would have been in the affidavit with a chance of accompanying charges.

Each and every rape is different, as are the victims. You were 12, at that age there is nothing you can do wrong, nor should you be responsible. A full grown adult like this woman here, yes we can play a role, however small, in what happens.

The two rapes? I did nothing wrong and there's nothing I could have done different. Hind sight is a bitch but during those moments it was out of my control completely. The sexual assault on the other hand I do have some responsibility in how that happened. Recognizing you fucked up, were irresponsible and played a part in what happened doesn't mean you 'asked for it', deserved it or anything of the likes. It doesn't negate the word no or stop. It doesn't make what happens your fault. It simply means you accept responsibility for your own actions which put you at risk to begin with. If you can't acknowledge when you make mistakes you are doomed to keep repeating them.

I mean it wasn’t the smartest choice but when will women be able to party with friends and not have to worry about being raped?

@Mata Hari she never refers to him as a friend, just as a former co-worker and she wasn't really all that willing to be there after she found out the mistake, she just stayed to save herself embarrassment.

She could have stayed sober, hung out for 30 minutes to an hour and fled without him being any the wiser that she mixed him up with another Ethan. Instead she chose to get so fucked up that she blacked out. That isn't partying. It's not really a party with friends if it's just you and one other person.

Statistically speaking you are far more likely to be raped by an acquaintance than a friend and even more likely to be raped by family. Friends are the least of peoples worries when it comes to this.

As awful as was it made me the woman I am today....John Wayne toilet paper...I don't take shit off anybody.
I offer to help other women; I escort rape victims to the hospital, and hold their hands when they are being examined. I listen to their stories and offer them a room in a shelter. It helps me too.
Last year I smuggled a Yorkie into the shelter. Didn't get caught either. Pet Therapy often helps with depression.

Right on CB..You're no victim..You're a fucking survivor!

The thing I can never understand is how a man could even get an erection with a sloppy, drooling, fucked up female. No thanks babe. I'll catch you tomorrow when you're a little more lively!

My wife and I met because she had me confused with another person with the same first name that lived in my apartment. I didn't rape her. Instead, we fell in love and got married.

You got married?!? How many muscle relaxants did that take?!?

j/k, that's a cool story.

On a more serious note, how many Ethans does she work with?

I mean, everybody's right, about making better choices, but the deed is done, she made herself vulnerable and we can all agree It's never okay to rape.

It's just kind of jarring for some of us, I guess, the need to point out, in a nutshell, it's not her fault, but kinda her fault... it feels like victim blaming.

Plural? More like a gang. It went on for years.
I wound up cutting, burning, pulling out my hair, hitting myself so hard I cracked my jaw.
I wanted to die and came damn close to it.
<3 Carolina, I'm so sorry about what happened to you in the past ..

None, thank goodness. There is only one male in the medical practice she manages; her brother. Everyone else there are females. I keep hoping she'll invite one of them home, but......

Thank goodness for criminals who are also idiots.

My idiot friends came over 2 weeks ago. My idiot friends decided to cut my (shoulder-length) hair.

My absent minded sister decided (without my approval) I needed to dye my hair. Sooooo...I wound up with coal black hair...then she decided to bleach my hair roots. The rest is history...

I may have to shave my head.
My life folks, my life...

Really? So if you leave your keys in your car & it gets stolen, I’m assuming you’ll refuse compensation from your insurance company since it’s your fault & you need to learn a lesson.

Ehh....

What?

Nah. I probably would accept compensation.

But only after I started drinking... and then decided to take 3 or 4 muscle relaxers, too. Cuz PARTAY!!

With an insurance agent from a different company. But hell, his first name is the same my agent!

CLOSE ENOUGH!!

Just one short sentence...The absence of a "no" does NOT mean "yes".
A man...a REAL man will always make sure his companion/date agrees...maybe even yells, "RIDE 'EM COWBOY!" <I did that once and fell off the bed
