Authorities have arrested an 18-year-old woman after human remains, possibly of a stillborn infant, were found in the backyard of a Warren County home.

Brooke “Skylar” Richardson is charged with one count of reckless homicide.

Remains discovered July 14 appeared to have been buried in a shallow grave for 10 to 12 weeks, according to Warren County Detective Lieutenant Jon Faine.

Investigators returned to the Eagle Ridge Drive home nearly a week later to collect samples in and around a fire pit in Richardson’s yard.

"We have learned more and that's why we're back out here, but we still have not learned everything we need to know. We're still, of course, trying to determine if it's a live birth or stillborn," Doyle Burke, Chief Investigator of the Warren County Coroner's Office, said.

A warrant filed Thursday in Franklin Municipal Court claims Richardson did “recklessly cause the death of another or the unlawful termination of another’s pregnancy” around May 7.

Richardson just graduated high school and plans to attend the University of Cincinnati, according to her attorney, Charlie Rittgers.

“She didn’t drink, she wasn’t a partier or a smoker. By all measures a very good girl,” Rittgers said after Richardson appeared in court Friday. She was a high school cheerleader who worked at the YMCA with children with special needs, Rittgers said.

My ex and his family live in Carlisle. Color me not surprised this happened there. You couldn't pay me to live in that town.

Omg I am still hoping that wee baby was not actually buried alive...I don't even want to consider what would have been better in this case, other than the obvious. :mad::rage::punch::arghh::(.

I've been wondering the same thing. My d-i-l's bff's 17-yr-old daughter is pregnant and admitted they weren't using birth control. When asked why the hell not, she replied that they'd had unprotected sex lots of time without her getting pregnant. :rolleyes: Fortunately, in her case the baby's daddy seems to be an amazingly mature 19-yr-old who already has custody of his young sister and steps up to help whenever his future in-laws need it.
 
Sex ed in the the US can be pretty bad, depending on state and county. Whereas my school offered extra incentives to take not only the required semester of health, but another course right after school just on sex ed. But in some states (mostly red states) the info doesn't even have to even be factual. You can say birth control causes abortions and breast cancer, when science says that isn't true. Also abstinence only education is a big thing in a lot of states. Some states don't even require any form of sex ed, not even abstinence only. Then there are counties or schools that fire teachers for teaching things like how to use a condom in sex ed. It's seriously fucked up.
 
So we have a high school senior who was living at home. I've looked but can't find anything on whether or not the parents were aware of the daughters pregnancy. You would think that being a cheerleader that Brooke/Skylar would be fairly trim and fit. One would expect that in the later months of pregnancy they would have noticed that their daughter had "thickened" up a bit in her midsection. Weight gain is distributed pretty evenly. Weight gain from pregnancy is all midsection by and large.

I'm just thinking that I would be observant enough to notice the changes in my own daughters body to at least query her on what was up with the extra pounds from boobs to butt.

I have a very thin friend who showed almost nothing when she was pregnant. She didn't even get new clothes. It had to do with where she carried the baby. My other friend was chunky and had twins. She got big, but more wide than a pregnant belly. She wasn't huge before she got pregnant, but you could have thought maybe she was just fat, when it was mostly baby. It'd be interesting to see photos of Skylar during those 9 months.
 
I can't help but feel especially hateful towards these girls who throw their babies away like garbage.

I don't buy any of the BS excuses where they claim to not know any better or say they "made a mistake" in the heat of a moment. This girl was 18, she knew what she was doing. Yet of course she's still going to have people say "oh she's such a sweet girl" blah blah-no, she killed a baby.

Girls like her carry their baby for 9 months, and throughout that pregnancy they have time to consider their options and you know... think of something other than murdering and burying their child??!!

Another baby dead and yet this girl will be out in a few years living her life as though nothing happened. :(

It's scary for me to see that people can hurt the most vulnerable and innocent, I'll never understand it.

My sex ed reply was partially to you, partially to Victoria, and partially because it's so much shittier than people know and people need to get mad and fix sex ed in our country.

Teen charged with murder after newborn's remains found buried, prosecutor says

LEBANON, Ohio -- An 18-year-old woman whose newborn infant's remains were found buried outside her home in southwest Ohio has been indicted on charges of aggravated murder and other offenses, a prosecutor said Friday.

Warren County Prosecutor David Fornshell said at a news conference that the grand jury Friday also indicted Brooke Skylar Richardson on charges of involuntary manslaughter, child endangering, tampering with evidence and gross abuse of a corpse in the May death.

Fornshell said the cause of death hasn't been determined and may never be known, due to burning and decomposition. He said Richardson gave birth to a full-term baby, who was born alive. The prosecutor alleged Richardson "purposely caused" the death of the infant, who was then burned and buried.

The infant is believed to have been born about 38 to 40 weeks in the pregnancy, sometime between May 6 and May 7, he said. Authorities believe the baby was alive only a few hours. They are working to determine the infant's sex and the father's identity.

According to CBS affiliate WKRC, authorities initially believed the remains were of a stillborn baby, but prosecutors said testing showed the baby was born alive. They found the body in July after receiving a tip.

A message seeking comment on behalf of Richardson, who was arrested Friday, was left at the office of her attorney, Charles Rittgers.

Fornshell said Richardson delivered her baby only days after attending her senior prom. He said the charred, decomposed remains were found July 14 buried outside Richardson's family's home in Carlisle, about 40 miles north of Cincinnati.

The prosecutor wouldn't speculate on a specific motive, but said he thinks evidence supports that Richardson was "pretty obsessed with external appearances and how she appeared to the outside world." Richardson was set to attend the University of Cincinnati, according to WKRC.

Investigators believe a "significant number of people in her life" likely had a strong suspicion she was pregnant before the birth, Fornshell said.

He said no one else has been charged in the case, but the investigation was continuing.

Glad to know that this privileged, heartless, twat truffle has to answer for far more now than a reckless homicide charge. How depraved to place your newborn in a fire before popping it into a hole and thinking she was good to go.

Who are these people who knew about the pregnancy and neither said anything or acted on behalf of the baby that was coming?
