Police Need Help Determining What Happened To Unconscious Woman Injured At Party
August 27, 2010 by Morbid
LAWRENCEBURG, Tenn. -- Here’s another story about a woman injured at a party, but in this case, no one is sure exactly what happened. This is due largely to the victim currently unconscious in a hospital bed recovering from 20 broken ribs. The only clue they have to what happened to Karen Hannah is her own call to 911. Here is what is known so far. Hannah attended a cousin’s party Saturday night where, according to police, 60 to 70 people attended. At some point during this party where many, including Hannah, were drinking, she was found on the floor in the fetal position asking for water. She somehow managed to find a cell phone and call 911 at around 3:00 a.m. Sunday. She told the dispatcher she had been run over by a car but other people there were saying she was fine — just drunk and lying. The family is hoping someone at the party will speak up because even though doctor’s have stopped giving her all the drugs that were keeping her sedated, Hannah will not wake up. In the meantime, police are still trying to piece together what happened. “We’ve got a lot of conflicting stories, and so we’ve got to go through and determine whose story is accurate,” said Detective Lori Bradford. I’m betting she was drunker than shit and someone at the party, just as drunk, hit her with their car.

GREAT BEND, Kan. - Last Saturday, the parents of 14-year-old Alicia DeBolt contacted police when she did not arrive home in time for her midnight curfew. When they had last seen her, she was leaving for a party in the company of a 19-year-old man. On Tuesday, charred remains were found behind some gravel piles at a paving company five miles away from the city. Yesterday the coroner’s office revealed that the remains had been identified as Debolt’s. Police are not releasing how she died, but do not believe her death was a random killing. A lot of people are commenting on other news sites, asking why the parents were allowing a 14-year-old girl to hang around such older company. Dradeana Cartwright, a neighbor of the family, told The Associated Press that Alicia had many older friends and seemed to be mature for her age. “I feared for her,” Cartwright said. “I did all the time. I prayed for her a lot.” That’s an odd statement, isn’t it?

Statements Reveal Sylar Newton Ingested Drugs, Abused Before He Disappeared
August 24, 2010 by Morbid
RIMROCK, Ariz - I completely missed this report regarding 2-year-old Sylar Newton, the boy who went missing while camping with his family in Arizona. Although the remains that were found have still not been positively identified as Sylar’s I don’t think there is any doubt they are his. Even more troubling are that statements from custodial mother Christina Priem, and her mother, Nancy Collins, have been released and they don’t make Sylar’s caregivers look so good. They both told police that they each took methadone on a regular basis and that on the day Sylar disappeared he had gotten into Priem’s purse and swallowed a prescription muscle relaxant. Priem’s 11-year-old daughter told detectives she could not wake up Sylar later that day. Other campers in the area also told investigators they listened to the women verbally abuse Sylar who at one point cried for two hours. One witness described seeing one of the women push him to the ground when he could not find his shoes. You kinda hope that a pack of wolves felt sorry for the kid and unsuccessfully tried to raise them as one of their own and not that this kid, in his short time here, experienced nothing but abuse and neglect up until the hours before his death.

MORENO VALLEY, CA – Norma Lopez, 17, has not been seen since Thursday morning last week when she vanished walking home from Valley View High School where she had attended summer classes. She took a common shortcut through a field, where she was to meet her sister and a friend at her home. When she didn’t arrive, they began searching for her with no success and after a couple hours, called police. Witnesses did not see Lopez taken against her will, but they did described seeing a newer model, green SUV speeding away from the area around the time Lopez would have been on her way home. Police also found some of Lopez’s personal items strewn along the route she took, leading them to believe there was some kind of struggle. Norma is about 5 feet 7 inches tall and 110 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black-and-white horizontal stripe sleeveless shirt, “skinny” jeans and black shoes. Today, a $7,500 reward was posted and anyone with information on her whereabouts should call the sheriff’s dispatch center at (951) 776-1099, or a tip line, (877) 242-4345. Anyone else see stories like this and think that had this been a pretty, white girl this story would have grabbed national headlines last Thursday? [Read more...]

COPPELL, Texas – Police officers went to the home of Mayor Jayne Peters at the request of the city manager’s office after the she did not show up for a scheduled council meeting. Once inside, officers found the bodies of 55-year-old Jayne Peters and her 19-year-old daughter Corrine Peters. Both had been shot in the head. There was no sign of forced entry or robbery and no one else lived in the home. Investigators suspect a murder-suicide although they admit that they are not done with their investigation. “At this point all we can really say is the investigation is just not complete,” City spokeswoman Sharon Logan said. “There are a lot of things we need to look at.” People who know the mayor stated that there had been no signs of trouble at home and are in shock. Corrine is a graduate of Coppell High School and just had a birthday last month. Jayne, whose husband died of cancer in 2008, has served as Coppell’s mayor since May 2009. I am guessing that “murder-suicide” has been thrown out there early because a gun was found at the scene.

DALLAS — We got an email today from a longtime member who has a friend who has went missing. They have asked us to help get her story and picture out there which we are more than happy to oblige. Lisa Stone has not been heard from or seen since June 4th. Her purse and pets left at the home she has shared with her partner for 15 years. Stone, 51, is socially active and kept regular contact with her friends either by phone or online. Even more ominous is the fact that some of Stone’s personal belongings, things like photographs and her birth certificate, were found in a dumpster near her home. Her partner has refused to talk to the press and surprisingly, wasn’t the one who filed the missing person report – her friends did that. Dallas detectives are now looking into the case and as I type this while reading the Facebook page set up for her, the partner has been taken into custody. You can offer support or keep tabs on any new information (like the partner’s name) by visiting the Facebook Page Looking for Lisa Stone… help us find her! I did a little reading on this from some other news sites, and man, if the partner mentioned doesn’t have anything to with this, she is doing everything possible to ensure it looks like she does. Portland, OR – I really wish I was updating this story to tell you all that Kyron has been found – sadly, that isn’t the case. I do, however, want to keep this story updated and continue to keep the kiddo’s picture circulating. Though family members and investigators have remained fairly tight-lipped throughout the investigation, there have been a couple of interesting new developments in the case. Kaine Horman, Kyron’s father, has taken the couple’s 18-month-old daughter and vacated the home he shares with Terri Horman, Kyron’s step-mother. And friends of the Horman family say authorities encouraged Kaine to do so. Furthermore, those same friends report that Kaine has filed for both a restraining order and a divorce. Terri Horman, reportedly the last person to see Kyron, has been under intense scrutiny since he vanished more than three weeks ago. Though she has not been named a suspect, or even a person of interest, she has been singled out in a questionnaire sent to parents and staff of Skyline school just days after Kyron disappeared. Fliers bearing her picture and a picture of her truck were circulated – authorities wanted to know if anybody had seen Terri or her truck “at or near the school” the morning he disappeared. Then there’s the stories about inconsistencies in Terri’s account of what she was doing that day. Some sources say Terri’s cell phone records do not match up with the story she told authorities. And let’s not forget about the two polygraphs Terri has supposedly taken. [Read more...]

AMITY, Maine – Here’s a quick one I was waiting on posting as more details come forward, but police need help locating a 1989 Ford F-150 pickup truck missing from the scene of a triple murder. Police say the bodies of a male, his 10-year-old son and another adult male were found stabbed to death in their home Wednesday night by a relative of one of the victims. They believe the three were murdered sometime that morning. the truck has a Maine license plate 4155RY and equipped with two different colored wheels. Spokesman Steve McCausland said the driver of the truck is a “person of interest” and should be considered dangerous. Police are not releasing the names of the victims or their ages until relatives are notified. I’ll try to keep this updated as more info comes to light, but feel free to do the same in the comment section. The article I linked to seemed to have the most information out of all the ones I read.

Houston – I posted about this in yesterday’s Daily Bites, but it was at the end of the day and I didn’t have enough time to get the story posted. It’s pretty depressing. Raquel Mundy, 24, had dropped her mom and two kids off at a Greyhound bus station around 1:30 a.m. Thursday for a family trip. She could not go with them because she was currently in school. When Mundy returned to where she had parked her, she found that it had been towed. She attempted to call family members for a ride and when she was unable, she made the fatal decision to get into a grey car driven by an unknown male. The last anyone heard from Raquel was when she texted her mother to tell her she was in danger and with a man she did not know. Her body was found in a field the next day, she had been strangled to death. Police were asking anyone with information on the case to contact HPD Homicide at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS. Always a shame when some asshole takes one of the good ones away. Her Facebook shows a beautiful, young woman who loved her kids and family, and was really proud of some the recent changes she had made. The Facebook status she left hours before she dropped her family off expressed how much she was going to miss her kids while they were away. Hope the police are able to wrap this one up quickly.

HAYWARD, Calif. - Here is an odd one that may or may not be a crime at all. Police are only classifying the death of a postal worker as suspicious. A co-worker noticed the woman, who has not been identified, had not been seen for over an hour and her car was still in the parking lot. After searching for her around the post office, 911 was called at around 4:45 a.m. Police searched the woman’s home but did not find her there or any clues to her whereabouts. During their investigation, authorities realized that a dumpster at the location had been picked up before the woman had been reported missing. Officers made a trip to the Waste Management transfer center in San Leandro and began digging around the location the Dumpster would have been emptied. It was there the body of the woman was found within the garbage. Police are staying tight-lipped about the condition of the body declining to comment on any visible injuries. They did say that they were looking at surveillance footage and the coroner’s office would be conducting an autopsy this morning. [Read more...]

FLINT, Mich. - While a 12-year-old girl stood outside of her home shaking, neighbors heard screams coming from inside. The little girl told them that her 17-year-old brother was hitting their mother with a frying pan. The neighbors kicked in the door but it was too late for Victoria Odom. She was found lying on the floor in a pool of blood with a knife beside her. She would die at the hospital from blunt force trauma. Her son would also be placed in the hospital in serious condition, reports stating he was seen with bandages on his arms when police took him from the home. No reports on how the kid got the injuries, but if the attack on his mother was not in self-defense, I am hoping mom went down fighting. No word on what sparked the fight, but neighbors called the family quiet and polite and that the boy was to graduate HS this year.

There are many stories of strange disappearances/deaths and suicides in Rock music history. It’s a category reserved for a lot of musicians who often write songs of torturous love and anguish for emotions that have nowhere else to go but out into the world as songs. Nick Drake, Ian Curtis, Matthew Jay, Jeff Buckley and Elliott Smith just to name a few. Then there is that of Richey Edwards of Manic Street Preachers. They are a band which I’m sure a lot of people may not have heard of, especially if you’re not a 90s Alternative geek. Manic Street Preachers was a Welsh band who broke out onto the Alternative music scene in the early 90s. They came out of the Cardiff music scene best known for acts like Super Furry Animals and more recently for crafting a harder edged sound from bands such as Bullet For My Valentine and Lostprophets. They formed in 1986 but did not release their first full length album until 1992. Wikipedia describes their debut album, Generation Terrorists as a “combination of androgynous glam punk imagery, outspoken invective and songs about culture, alienation, boredom and despair.” [Read more...]

whisperswing posted a story in the forums about LA investigators needing some help identifying the naked body of a woman that was found lying on the freeway. Police say that she was thrown from a moving vehicle and currently do not know if she was killed and then dumped onto the freeway, or if she died as a result of being thrown out of a vehicle. She has a tattoo on the middle of her upper back with the names “Kenaya,” “Faith” and “Morgan” surrounded by stars. Source – KTLA

ATLANTA – A woman taking a short cut through a wooded, vacant lot in a dangerous neighborhood made a very gruesome discovery the other day. She stumbled across the dead body of a black female. Thinking it was a mannequin of some type, the woman walked over and kicked the body. Finding out that it was quite real, she ran off screaming and called 911. No one knows who the female is at this point, and identifying her has become a bit of a problem as police say the head and hands are missing. They do believe she has been there a couple of days; killed elsewhere and then dumped in the woods. “If you know anyone who has been missing, please let us know,” said Atlanta city Councilman Ivory Young, Jr. I have always imagined what I would do in a situation in which I was walking in the woods alone and stumbled across a dead body. I don’t think I would piss myself or anything, but I’m not gonna lie and say I would stroll on out of the woods whistling a happy tune either.

In this episode of LOST’s final season, lines continue to be drawn as the island heads into the mysterious and long alluded-to “war.” Hurley (Jorge Garcia) is visited yet again by the ghost of Jacob (Mark Pellegrino) and given further instructions. This time, Jack (Matthew Fox) is summoned as well. However, the good doctor has reached the end of his rope and is exhausted by mystery, perhaps as much as LOST’s entire audience. Meanwhile, we peek back in on Claire (Emelie De Ravin) and are given a few more clues regarding the cryptic “infection.” In the alternate reality, further differences are revealed between the original timeline and the new timeline. Jack is now the father of a moody tween and after meeting Dogen (Hiro Sanada), it continues to appear as though the island has held no sway whatsoever in this new reality.
