High School Senior Charged With Felony After Blow-Up Doll Prank Backfires
June 10, 2011 at 7:55 am by Athena
Rushville, Ind. – A senior at an Indiana high school decided to pull a seemingly harmless prank at his school even thought the students had been warned against doing so, and his decision landed him in jail, caused him to miss his graduation and now facing some possible time in prison.
It was with justifiable concern that school officials watched on survelliance video as an ominous, hooded and gloved individual entered the girl’s bathroom at Rushville High with an unspecified package, reemerging minutes later empty-handed. Believing it contained explosives, the school was evacuated and the bomb squad was called in. Soon after, both the offender and the contents of the package were recovered.
The offender? 18-year-old Rushville High senior Tyell Morton. The contents of the package? A freakin’ blow-up doll. Tyell developed the brilliant plan to plant the doll in the women’s restroom at school as a senior prank. The young man with no prior record now claims authorities are “blowing it out of proportion” (his words, not mine, but I would’ve used ‘em anyway), and I must say, I rather agree.…

WEST SENECA, N.Y. – Looks like we have another man posing as a woman on Facebook to get pictures from young boys, then blackmailing them into sending him more. Our first story was last month and involved a UNC college student, now it involves a substitute teacher.
The FBI says 25-year-old Timothy Bek, a former substitute teacher at West Seneca West Senior High School, has been charged with possession of child pornography after he got busted posing as a woman named “Sarah Grayson” on Facebook and talking underage students into sending him naked photos of themselves.
These charges may be upgraded as investigators have proof that he also attempted to blackmail his victims, telling them if they do not send him more photos, he’d distribute the ones he already had. They originally identified three victims, and now have identified several others. They are now trying to find out if some or all of the victims attended West Seneca High School.
While Assistant Superintendent Dr. Patrick Phelan said they’re not aware of Bek behaving inappropriately with students while employed with the school district, police are looking into whether Bek used school equipment, or his position in the schools, to search for his potential victims.…

Beech Grove, IN – Sara Kifer, an Indiana teacher who is currently suspended, will go to court related to a No Contact Order based on allegations of her stalking a student last year at Beech Grove High School.
A investigation into Kifer’s behavior towards an unnamed student was begun by by the Department of Education after a student claimed that she fell in love with him during his senior year. The student reportedly said that he ignored her advances at first, but eventually felt it necessary to turn letters Kifer had allegedly written to him over to his school counselor.
The school responded by suspending Kifer immediately and a No Contact Order was issued by a county judge. According to the victim, neither of these actions – or his graduation – were a deterrent. When he started college that fall, Kifer reportedly began trying to reach him through his circle of friends.
“First it was another student at my college and through that she made contact with people I know and began contacting them in other manners,” the stalking victim said.…

OSTEEN, Fla. – An 8-year-old boy may face an aggravated battery charge after he went nuts and stabbed a teacher with a pencil.
The boy was in an after-school program in the cafeteria of Osteen Elementary School when he began running around screaming like an idiot. When the teacher, 47-year-old Kelleen Long, approached the boy he grabbed a pencil and began moving towards another student.
When Long stepped in to protect the other student, the 8-year-old turned on her and attempted to stab her in the face with the pencil. Long was able to shield her face but was stabbed in the forearm, leaving lead lodged inside her. The boy then dropped to the ground.
Long did not require medical attention, but according to deputies she does want to file charges against the boy. His mother was called to the school to calm him down and explained that while he was not on any medication, her son was taking fish oil to help with his anger issues.
I’m thinking maybe it’s time she introduces the boy to handfuls of Valium…or possibly a dog crate.…

Wisconsin Rapids, WI — Four members of Lincoln High School’s state championship wrestling team are facing disorderly conduct charges after being accused of repeatedly sexually harassing a fellow wrestler in the locker room.
According to the criminal complaint, the accused, Zachary Benitz, 18; Kasey Einerson, 17; Rylan Lubeck, 17; and Devin Peterson, 17, reportedly made one freshman wrestler’s season a living hell full of wins towards their 20th state championship as well as their naked penises being placed on various parts of his body.
The 15-year-old victim claims that on about 5 to 10 separate occasions, the accused would dance around him while they were naked, swinging their penises at him. He described an incident in the shower where he says one of the accused placed their penis on his butt. He was unable to get away from the offending member because he was “boxed in by two other wrestlers.” On another occasion, the victim said that he “had to climb into a locker” to prevent a penis from hitting him in the face.…

I’m breaking my own rule by consolidating separate stories into one, but they are both in the news right now and both involve high school students facing criminal charges after pulling pranks at their schools.
The first one is out of New Mexico where a group of students are facing criminal charges after taking part in a cafeteria food fight. School administrators at Los Lunas High School claim 12 to 15 students are suspected of starting Friday’s food fight. They are already on a 10-day suspension at the start of next school year, and have now been cited with disorderly conduct.
The entire thing was captured on video and of course the parents of the accused are mad about the charges filed against their kids. But administrators had made it clear to students that there would be serious consequences if any other pranks were pulled at the school following some fireworks being lit in a hallway, and the food fight was the last straw.
But those kids got it easy compared to what happened to some students in Texas. Their senior prank could land them in prison.…

Joliet, IL - Joshua K. Price, 26, was arrested in late March after leaving a flash drive containing pornography in a computer lab at Joliet Junior College in Illinois, authorities said.
Another student reportedly found the flash drive and gave it to a lab assistant who looked on the drive to see if he could find its owner. The laboratory assistant is reported to have found sexually explicit photos of young girls interspersed with homework and papers with Price’s name on them. The laboratory worker turned over the drive to city police, who arrested Price and seized computers and flash drives from his apartment.
Police reportedly found 1,700 images on his computer, including child pornography and ‘hundreds of images of dismembered women.’
“If these [dismemberment] images are staged images and not genuine,” prosecutors wrote in a bond request document, “the level of staging appears very sophisticated.”
Police have said that Price has been “very honest” in videotaped interviews, saying that he has post-traumatic stress disorder after serving in the military in the Middle East, and he was using child pornography to take his mind off his anger.…

Vero Beach, FL — Heather McKenzie, 37, was removed from her child’s elementary school talent show and arrested after putting on quite a show of her own.
This drama began earlier in the week when one of Mckenzie’s daughters had an argument with one of the young talent show participants. When McKenzie, who had a second child in the talent show, arrived at the talent show with the girl, the principal of Dodgertown Elementary School asked her to take the girl off campus. According to the police affidavit, McKenzie protested.
That’s when an Indian River County Sheriff’s deputy approached McKenzie and asked her to step inside the cafeteria. After reportedly initially ignoring him, she then ‘rambled loudly’ about the conflict – describing it as a ‘black and white thing.’ McKenzie finally asked a friend to take her daughter from the school so she could stay and watch her other daughter perform.
This would have been a good time for you to head home yourself, Heather…
McKenzie returned to the talent show and, in front of the more than 100 people in attendance, began yelling, cursing, and hurling racial epithets at one family while also accusing them of being thieves.…

Waco, TX – Robert David Cole, 20, turned himself in to Waco police May 9th on a charge of sexual assault stemming from a alleged date rape incident at Baylor University campus-area party.
According to a police affidavit, Cole and the victim went to the party where both ‘consumed a large amount of alcohol.’ The victim reportedly became so intoxicated that ‘she was stumbling around and was embarrassing herself.’ A friend took her into a bedroom so she could lie down.
The affidavit described her being ‘at the point of passing out’ when Cole got into the bed with her and ejaculated into her mouth. According to the affidavit, the victim wasn’t aware of what had happened, but says Cole told her the next day what he had done. He also, reportedly, told other friends, as well.
Cole turned himself in to police after an arrest warrant was issued charging him with sexual assault. He was held in the McLennan County Jail, but is now free on $25,000 bond.
I can’t tell from the news reports if his telling the others was bragging or a confession.…

RIVERDALE, GA — A 60-year-old substitute teacher has been arrested after deciding it was perfectly acceptable to take a piss in a trashcan in a classroom full of fourth-graders.
Coleman Eaton Jr was teaching a class at Riverdale Elementary School when he allegedly walked to the back of the classroom and told the students not to turn around. Of course some did, and they say they witnessed Eaton urinating in a garbage can. One of these student went to the office and reported the incident.
Eaton was arrested immediately and charged with two counts of aggravated child molestation. Last reports were that he was still sitting in Clayton County Jail after he was unable to pay a $50,000 bond. Eaton denies the accusations, but Riverdale police Major Greg Barney says they have evidence that he did, in the form of Eaton’s DIY urinal.
Parents at the school are equally shocked and disgusted. “You don’t expect that from a teacher,” said parent Erica Reese. “That’s nasty. That’s why there are plenty of restrooms.”

PITTSBURGH, PA – What a nightmare this could have turned into. Police say a 7-year-old student at Quentin Roosevelt Elementary School brought heroin to school and even gave some out to his classmates.
The kid got busted after he accidentally cut his hand with a razor blade he had in his possession. Because of this, school officials searched his backpack and locker and discovered 18 small bags of heroin along with more razor blades.
Police were called to the school who brought along a drug sniffing dog that detected no other drugs inside the school. The boy told them he had gotten the drugs from his father’s bedroom, so they searched there as well and were not able to find anything.
The boy also admitted that over the last few days he had been giving out some of the white packets to other children. The kids called the stamp bags “Magic Tickets” because of they featured a bunny coming out of a hat. Officials are urging parents to check their children’s belongings for these bags of heroin and turn them over to police.…

CLINTON, MD – Police had to shoot and kill an American Bull Dog the other morning after it jumped on a school bus and began attacking the children inside.
Prince George’s County police officials say the dog chased a kid onto the bus and began attacking him. When the kid ran off the bus, the bus driver did as well in an attempt to get the bulldog off of the boy. The kid ran back onto the bus only to have the dog follow him on again.
Some of the kids tried to push the dog away or kick him in the face. When a second kid ran off the bus, the dog followed and attack him. ”I didn’t know what to do. I was running to the car, so I could get in, so I wouldn’t get bit, but he bit me,” said Mikhail.
By this time police and fire officials had arrived on the scene and the dog began attacking them. When the dog began attacking another kid who had just been dropped off at the bus stop, an officer pulled the dog away and shot it. ”They shot him one time,” said Mikhail, “He was still breathing.…

DAYTON, Ohio – The mother of an eighth-grader at Dayton View Academy says her daughter is being punished after telling on two fellow classmates who had sex on a school bus.
The incident reportedly occurred during a spring break trip while eight chaperons were pre-occupied at the front of the bus watching a movie. The girl is in trouble because she did not tell one of these chaperons about the two other students, deciding to tell her mother when she got home.
Because of that decision, she learned a lesson about good deeds at an early age and will be disciplined by the school. Part of her punishment includes not being able to attend the school picnic or the prom her mother had already purchased a dress for. Do they really have proms in eight-grade?
Anyway, the school defends its decision and released the following statement: “The authorities have completed their investigation, and the school has taken appropriate actions inline with our school policies concerning such matters.”
What that means is that this school’s administration, like many others, no longer looks at incidents individually and tries to handle them with common sense while taking into account the people involved and the surrounding circumstances.…

Pompano Beach, FL - Maribel Gomez, 35, was arrested on Monday morning for showing her breasts to children who were waiting for a school bus.
According to a Broward Sheriff’s Office probable cause affidavit, a deputy answered a call about 8:15 a.m. on Monday regarding a woman undressing in front of school children waiting for a bus in the city.
According to the document, a 10-year-old witness told the deputy he saw Gomez “with her breasts fully exposed,” and heard her ask, “Are you ready?”
Gomez was arrested at the scene, initially charged with lewd and lascivious exhibition. At her court appearance on Tuesday, however, Judge John “Jay” Hurley downgraded the charge against Gomez. ”We’ve agreed that your alleged behavior does not fit into that statute,” he said. “We agreed that if anything, it’s disorderly conduct.”
Hurley revoked Gomez’s bond because of a arrest in April on cocaine possession. Hurley also ordered that Gomez undergo a mental health evaluation.

Silsbee, TX – I swear I thought this was the plot of a FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS episode, but I guess I just read about it in our forums. The story starts in 2008 when a 16-year-old cheerleader for Silsbee High School accused one of the school’s star athletes, Rakheem Bolton (pictured), of raping her at a party.
Bolton and two other men would later be arrested and a grand jury would indict Bolton on a felony sexual assault of a minor charge. This charge was dropped when Bolton pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault. He received two years probation, community service, a fine and had to to take anger-management classes. He was also allowed to return to school and rejoin his teammates on the basketball team. ”I have no hard feelings toward the girl,” Bolton told reporters. “It was a misunderstanding.”
In January of 2009, the victim was leading cheers at a basketball game Bolton was participating in, but when Bolton was about to take a free throw, the girl would stand silently with her arms folded refusing to cheer for the person she accuses of raping her.…

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – Hard to believe it has been over a year since 15-year-old Phoebe Prince decided to hang herself after being ruthlessly bullied by some fellow classmates. But now the teens accused of driving the teen to suicide are finally learning their fates, starting with Sean Mulveyhill and Kayla Narey, both 18.
Yesterday Mulveyhill changed his plea to guilty on a charge of criminal harassment and received one year of probation. He must also perform 100 hours of community service with at-risk youth. As part of his plea, charges of statutory rape and violating Prince’s civil rights were dropped. Smart move, Mulveyhill.
Narey received the same sentence after she pleaded to sufficient facts to the same charge of criminal harassment, acknowledging the state could win conviction at trial. However, after a year of good behavior, the charge will disappear. She did read a letter in court, tearfully apologizing for her part in Prince’s bullying.
Prince’s mother, Anne O’Brien, gave an emotional victim’s impact statement, focusing some anger towards Mulveyhill, who had dated Prince for a short while.…

SAN MARCOS, TX — I may be assuming a bit when I say that there’s a big possibility alcohol was involved with three people deciding to jump from a first-floor window of a Texas State University dorm. A decision that cost one their life and seriously injured another.
For reasons unknown, 24-year-old Eirin Hicks, 19-year-old Kristin McCreery and an unidentified male jumped from the Laurel Hall dormitory window early Tuesday morning. Both Hicks and McCreery were injured in the fall.
Hicks was taken to the hospital in critical condition suffering from head injuries and would die later that day. McCreery was also taken to the hospital suffering from back injuries and was listed in fair condition. The male was not hurt.
Police say there was a small gathering at the dorm and they had been called out there earlier on a noise complaint, but do not feel the three jumped out of the window to avoid police.

St. Ann, MO - Ritenour High School student Dalton Heinle, 18, was arrested for using his cell phone to videotape his fellow students in various states of undress.
Police say Heinle was taken into custody Tuesday and was charged with criminal invasion of privacy. Police said school administrators contacted them after a student caught Heinle recording he and other students dressing and undressing.
“…some individuals on the phone that were identified by Ritenour staff as being students there but there’s a bunch of other people that we don’t know. Nobody knows,” said Breckenridge Hills Police Captain Scott Robinson. Police say the videos were shot in what appears to be bathrooms and locker rooms. Heinle is a member of the school’s swim team.
According to police, they are aware of seven victims who have been identified as Ritenour High School students. All were male and none knew they were being videotaped, police said. Parents reportedly received a letter and email from the school alerting them that an incident did take place at the school.…

WILLIAMSBURG, KY – Republican state Rep. Dewayne Bunch was taken to the hospital after suffering a critical head injury while trying to break up a fight at the school he has taught at for the last 17 years.
A 15-year-old and 16-year-old were fighting in the Whitley County High School cafeteria Teusday morning when Bunch, a math and science teacher at the school, ran over to intervene. He also ran into a punch that knocked him to the ground where he hit his head, causing him to suffer a severe head injury.
“The juveniles were fighting. Mr. Bunch and two of the other teachers went to break it up. Mr. Bunch ran over to it, ran into a punch that one of the juveniles was throwing, made (Bunch) bobble backwards, hit the floor and he’s been unconscious ever since. He got himself between two young men fighting.” Whitley Sheriff Colan Harrell said.
When paramedics arrived, Bunch was unresponsive and bleeding from the ears. Emergency responders performed a tracheotomy procedure on Bunch before taking him to Baptist Regional Medical Center in extremely critical condition, then transferred to University of Kentucky Medical Center.…

LEANDER, TX – Yesterday, a Leander High School freshman took a gun into one of the school’s bathrooms and fatally shot herself.
None of the students heard a gunshot and were not aware anything had happened until they heard the screaming from someone who went in the restroom and discovered the body of 15-year-old Meagan Allen.
No word yet on why she decided to end her life this way, or where the gun came from, but one news report had students saying Allen was bullied in school, but school officials were quick to point out that at this point, they have no real evidence of that. Over at KVUE, they say a source informed them Allen had told her friends she was going to kill herself. They didn’t believe her so they didn’t say anything to anyone until it was too late.
Not a lot of information on Allen aside from the fact that she was “very active” with the TX-20007 AFJROTC group. I checked out a couple of the obligatory memorial pages created on Facebook earlier this morning, and aside from some trolls who usually show up on pages like that, I didn’t see a lot in way of real friends.…
