Rochester, New York – Jessica Ortero, 31, and Alicia Cotto, 23, are accused of fighting over a man they both dated outside School 8 yesterday morning. The two women were at the school dropping off their kids when the argument started. Ortero allegedly pulled out a knife and cut Cotto in the face and neck. Cotto was able to retrieve the knife and then cut Ortero in the lower back. The school was put on lockdown after Ortero ran into the school looking for medical help and some students feared she had a gun. She was taken into custody and faces felony charges of assault in the second degree and aggravated criminal contempt for violating a court order to stay away from Cotto.

Dunnellon, FL – She took him in four years ago so he wouldn’t have to face the hell that is the foster care system. She loved him, cared for him, put a roof over his head, and fed him. Now, 66-year-old Doris Babcock is dead – the young boy she took under her wing, 19-year-old Zachary Snyder, stands accused of murdering her. Damn. I think a nice ‘Thank You’ card would have been sufficient. Doris’s husband, a long-distance truck driver, called police on Saturday and requested a well-being check on his wife when he was unable to get in contact with her. When authorities arrived at the home, they came in contact with Zachary – who, the husband told them, was not supposed to be there. The couple had asked him to leave the home a few weeks earlier after they discovered he had been stealing from them. Zachary, who appeared to have cuts on his hands and Doris’s debit and credit cards in his pockets, told officers that Doris wasn’t home. At that point, Zachary was arrested and charged with theft and probation violation. They later discovered the gruesome truth about Doris’s whereabouts.

A search of the Babcock home revealed blood, and lots of it. It was on the kitchen walls, in the sink, and in the bedroom. Blood evidence was found in Doris’s vehicle. There were patches of carpet missing in the home and in the vehicle which were later found in plastic garbage bags with blood-soaked rags and a bent knife. In the backyard, a fire was smoldering in a pit. Zachary told investigators that he was burning some trash – turns out, he was burning Doris Babcock – her remains identified by a pin that had been surgically inserted in her elbow years earlier.

A search of Zachary’s mobile home turned up some interesting shit, as well. He had a butt-load of ‘to-do’ lists and on the top of each list the first entry was “Kill Mrs. Dee.” He also wanted to remember to take her Jeep, get gas, and look for the PIN numbers to her numerous cards.

“That lady’s done more for me than anybody else has,” Zachary stated in an interview. “If I were to die, she would be the only one I could see honestly caring.” You are probably right, Zach. He, of course, denies killing the woman he calls ‘grandma.’ The one who has done so much for him. Regardless, he’s charged with premeditated murder. Personally, I hope that fucker is ass-raped, without the benefit of lube or spit, twice a day, every single day, for the rest of his natural life, for what he’s done. Asshole.

ST. MARTINS, Missouri – Here we go, another little girl has vanished while walking home. Maybe this will end differently than the Somer Thompson disappearance. At 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, 9-year-old Elizabeth Olten was walking the quarter mile home from a friend’s house in the 600 block of Route D south of St. Martins. She never arrived at her home. The Cole County Sheriff’s Department has issued an Endangered Person Advisory. Olten is a white, 9-year-old female. She is 5′ 2″ and 108 lbs. with brown hair, brown eyes and a fair complexion with physical marks. She was last seen wearing a pink scarf, pink shirt and pink sweater and blue jeans with white sneakers. She was also carrying a cell phone. The sheriff’s department contacted the cell phone provider, AT&T, who “pinged” the cell phone to triangulate its location. AT&T put the cell phone’s location deep in the woods near Elizabeth’s home. The girl’s family members said she is afraid of the woods and the dark.

On Wednesday night, the Missouri State Highway Patrol searched for Elizabeth using a helicopter with a thermal imaging radar. Today, 60 people resumed the search focusing on a section of woods several hundred yards in diameter, which police had narrowed by triangulating the girl’s cell phone location. The battery had died by this morning and an uneven terrain, high brush and soaking weather are hampering the search effort.

“If you go to Iowa and look at a flat piece of farmland that’s 140 acres, you go, well it’s not that big.’ You translate that to Missouri and you use the same thing, you walk a long time to cover that same amount of land,” White said. “It’s muddy out there now. It’s difficult terrain, it’s difficult weather.”, said Cole County Sheriff Greg White.

And before anyone starts bashing her parents for her walking that stretch of road, a commentor over on Topix noted that the girl’s parents were not alerted that she was being sent home from her friends house. So before we get into that territory, let’s wait for some more information to come in.

Update 10-23-09 An older juvenile led authorities to Elizabeth Olten’s body, deep in the woods near where an exhaustive search for the child was under way for much of the day. Little information on this other juvenile aside from them being described as a “person of interest.”

By now everyone knows who the 15-year-old suspect is. She is the older sister of the girl Olten was visiting. Already people are pouring over everything she has said or written on any of the myriad of social accounts she has. These are her alleged Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, Sing Snap and disabled Youtube account (cached version here) which was on Nancy Grace tonight. Specifically her hobbies of “cutting, killing people.” This will be interesting. She seemed like a normal teen chick to me. I’m curious if this was an accidental death that she tried to cover up. In the Youtube video it shows her getting her brothers to touch an electric fence.

The following are simply rumors gathered from emails being sent and chat logs being posted. But supposedly this was a planned murder, a hole dug earlier. She also had help burying the body. She had cut the Olten’s neck and wrists purely to see if she could get away with it. None of this is confirmed, of course. But hey, it’s out there and I’m curious how close tot he truth it is. All stuff we will find out in the future.

Here is the mugshot of 15-year-old Alyssa Bustamante the teen girl charged with strangling and slitting the throat of Elizabeth Olten. She’s a sick puppy and has shown some disturbing behavior for years, including cutting and an attempted suicide at 13.

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina – There was a disturbing shooting incident at Carolina Forest High School on Friday involving an autistic teen and the school’s resource officer. On Friday morning 15-year-old Trevor Varinecz asked to speak with resource officer, Marcus Rhodes. The two went inside his  office and shut the door. Teachers described hearing shouting from inside the office and when they entered, witnessed Varinecz attacking Rhodes with a large knife. Rhodes was stabbed multiple times and in self-defense, returned fire hitting Varinecz multiple times. Both of them were taken to Conway Medical Center where Varinecz was pronounced dead, and Rhodes was later released. Rhodes has been been an employee of the Horry County Police Department for almost ten years. Neighbor’s say Varinecz wasn’t a trouble maker, but rather a functioning autistic teenager whose parents integrated him into normal activities.  No word on why Varinecz wanted to talk to Rhodes, or how the altercation started.

This is the second death at this high school with the last few years. Back in 2006, Friday’s incident marks the second time in three years a Carolina Forest High School student has died in a violent incident on the school’s campus. In June 2006, 18-year-old Natalia Holmes was stabbed 15 times and run over by a vehicle by her estranged boyfriend in the school’s parking lot.

The teen had two knives on him. The officer was able to get one away from him, but was then attacked with the other. Of course, the NAACP weighed in: “There are serious questions that must be aggressively investigated,” the NAACP said in its statement. “Was the officer trained in the techniques to work with individuals with autism, or mental illness? Did the officer use all available means to contain the situation without using deadly force? Should school resource officers be allowed to carry guns in schools?”

Trevor’s mother told reporters, “he was a wonderful boy. We can’t understand what happened… He was not violent, he was never violent. We just don’t know what he was thinking.” She went on to say that Trevor was finding it very difficult to make friends.

MONT VERNON, New Hampshire – Residents of the small, hilly town of Mont Vernon are in a state of shock after four teens entered a home to rob it, and attacked a 41-year-old mother and her 11-year-old daughter. Using a machete and a knife, Kimberly Cates was attacked while she lay in her bed and killed by multiple sharp injuries to the head, torso, left arm, and left leg. Her daughter survived the attack although she suffered severe stabbing injuries and spent hours in surgery. The attack was a completely random one, Cate’s home chosen simply because it was isolated. “They picked the house at random because it was in an isolated area,” prosecutor N. William Delker said today during the teens’ arraignments in Milford District Court. “Before they entered the home, all four defendants were aware that the intent was to kill the occupants.”

At around 4 a.m. Sunday, Steven Spader, 17; Christopher Gribble, 19; William Marks, 18; and Quinn Glover, 17 have all been arrested for their part in the crimes. Spader and Gribble were charged with first degree murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy to commit first degree murder. Marks and Glover were charged with burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, and armed robbery – although prosecutors claim that Glover and Marks were both armed with a deadly weapon, and Glover was fully aware that the occupants of the home would be killed.

Cate’s husband was away on business but flew back to be with his daughter in the hospital. She is expected to survive, but she will obviously have some major issues because of this. What a pity that these idiots could not have broken into a tweaker couple’s house or something. By all reports, Kimberly was an awesome lady. John Quinlan, a Mont Vernon selectman, and friend of the Cates family for five years described 42-year-old mother and nurse Kimberly Cates as an unusually friendly, happy woman devoted to her daughter.

“She was very much the extrovert,” Quinlan said. “The mother and daughter were inseparable. They were almost best friends as well. That’s what I think makes this worse because you can’t imagine anyone having a bad thought about her or a gripe with her.”

Some information on the teens have come to light as friends all report the same thing. Four kids who all fell into a downward spiral over recent years. Spader was a longtime Boy Scout who in recent months grew increasingly distant and depressed. He has a lengthy criminal record including threatening teens with a tire iron after ramming their car, charges of possessing stolen stereo equipment, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and marijuana possession charges. Most of these within recent months.

Gribble was a home-schooled Mormon who was planning to become a church missionary. Like a lot of kids raised in that environment (not all, people) he ended up rebelling X10 becoming a dark and brooding figure itching to lash out and become very fond of knives. It is reported that Marks is insecure and angst-ridden teen, and took a turn for the worse after meeting Spader. The same goes for Glover, a musician who performed in coffee shops, sang in the chorus, and starred in a school production of Cabaret.

While New Hampshire does have a death penalty, these boys are not eligible for it. According to the New Hampshire attorney general’s office, the crime does not fit within the state’s definition of a capital murder. The death penalty is only on the table when a law enforcement or judicial officer is killed in the line of duty, in the case of murder-for-hire, if the accused is currently serving a life sentence or when the murder occurs in connection with a kidnapping, drug crime or sexual assault.

Whatever. I am sure that this case will continue to get more heinous as some of these teens turn on each other (my bet is on Marks) and the details on exactly what transpired in that home is revealed. To be able to attack a defenseless woman in her home while she slept in her bed is one thing, but to be able to do the same to an 11-year-old girl? Seriously, fuck ‘em. Fuck their childhoods.

Las Vegas, Nevada – Tom and Carla Chester were found dead in their Heritage Village mobile home on Wednesday by their 22-year-old daughter. 57-year-old Tom had been shot in the head, 51-year-old Carla had been shot and stabbed in the neck. Their Dodge Journey was missing and before long, their 18-year-old son, Timothy Chester, was named a suspect. At around 6 p.m., the mother of 18-year-old Victor Veliz called 911 informing them that her son had just admitted to killing the couple at the request of Timothy, his best friend. Timothy was apprehended on Thursday morning near the Hoover dam and now that both are in custody, the details on what happened that Wednesday afternoon, and how much worse it could have been, are chilling.

Timothy and Victor became friends some time after Victor moved to Vegas from California six years ago. Victor had few friends because he felt that he scared most people. But not Timothy Chester. He and Timothy formed a friendship that included spending a lot of time playing online games – and according to Victor, listening to Timothy talk about how much he hated his parents and wanted to kill them. According to Timothy, a pact was made in which Victor would kill Timothy’s parents and then Timothy would return the favor and kill Victor’s. This all came together following an argument Timothy had with his family earlier this week regarding responsibility. The plan was for Timothy’s entire family to be killed, including his sister and brother-in-law. Of course nothing ever goes exactly as planned, but from what I can gather from the source links, this is what happened on Wednesday.

About 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Thomas Chester took his son to a nearby high school to get his transcripts and then dropped him off at Victor’s house. At noon, Timothy and Victor walked back to Timothy’s parent’s mobile home. During this walk, Timothy handed Victor a gun that was taken from his father’s safe. When they got there, Timothy’s mother was asleep on the couch in the living room and his father was in the kitchen. Timothy and Victor went into Timothy’s bedroom after briefly speaking with Timothy’s father.

Victor states that once in the bedroom he tried giving the gun back to Timothy and told him to put it back in the safe. Timothy then handed the gun back to Victor and told him if he didn’t do it, he would shoot him instead. The two left the bedroom and Victor shot Tom as he stood next to the front door. After being shot, Tom then tried to run into the master bedroom, but his own son got to the room ahead of him and prevented him from entering.

Timothy then retrieved a semi-automatic pistol from a bedroom closet and loaded it. When he left the bedroom, he saw his father lying on the floor behind the couch. Carla, who was physically disabled, stood up and began screaming. Timothy, being the greasy fucking pussy he is, ran out of the trailer taking the keys to his parent’s SUV leaving Victor behind in the trailer.

Victor allegedly shot Carla at some point during this time and then used a kitchen knife to stab her in the throat. He stated that he heard a horn blowing outside, and after washing up in the kitchen sink he walked outside and Timothy, along with the SUV, were gone – I guess ending the plan they had to flee to California and then Guatemala. Victor walked home and informed his mother of what he had done and asked her to call police for him. he denied that there was any pact as Timothy stated during his talk with police, but did add that the rest of Timothy’s family should be worried as Timothy wanted them dead as well. He added that Timothy was smarter than he looked.

Neighbors said that the couple were well liked and “pillars of the community” and that “they were the first to help, to organize events…always there at the ready.” “She was a character,” neighbor Garrianne Sage said of Carla Chester. “She didn’t deserve it. She didn’t deserve it at all.” They also commented that Timothy was a quiet guy who kept his head down when he walked the neighborhood, but that he did help out other neighbors and was great with his nephews. Victor’s mother has declined to talk to any news agencies at this point.

Both teens were booked into the Clark County Detention Center on two counts each of murder with a deadly weapon, and conspiracy to commit murder. They also face one count each of burglary for their involvement in the double slaying. Timothy Chester was charged with an additional count of robbery with a deadly weapon. Stuart, FL - While partying with friends Saturday evening, Cassandra Lauderdale took a break from the festivities to bathe her dog, a Catahoula named Dolly. Maybe Cassandra was scrubbin’ the pup’s nether-regions too hard, or maybe Dolly just thought her human was a total bitch, but, for whatever reason, Dolly allegedly turned around and nipped at Cassandra. Chances are, the human bitch had been cruel to the canine bitch on a fairly regular basis. Anyway, Cassandra stewed and seethed over that nip for the next 24 hours. The next night, Cassandra exacted her revenge. Partying again, with several guests in attendance, Cassandra reportedly stabbed that bitch to death.

Officers were called to the home at about 10:30 Sunday evening after one of Cassandra’s guests called to report that she had just stabbed her dog. When deputies arrived and asked Cassandra where her pooch was, her response was, “I killed the bitch.” She also mentioned that she had every right to kill that dog and it was nobody’s damn business. Snarky bitch. One party goer told deputies that he witnessed Cassandra dragging the yelping dog into the bathroom, and, oh yeah, she changed her clothes before the cops showed up. Another witness reported seeing Cassandra dragging the dead dog out of the bathroom and heard her saying she buried it. The bathroom was a bloody mess – bloody towels, bloody clothes, bloody knife, and a leash and collar. Dolly was found in the back yard, dead from multiple stab wounds.

A friend of Cassandra’s told officers that this wasn’t the first time Dolly had tried to bite Cassandra. “This particular dog, no, it’s not the first time,” Crystal Morris said. “But she’s also had another dog bite her before and we had that one put down, but the Humane Society did it, and this time she didn’t want to wait for the Humane Society to come get it, so she did it herself.”

Cassandra Lauderdale, 23, was arrested and charged with animal cruelty resulting in death. Bail was set at $2,500. It’s somewhat comforting to know that officers seized a rifle and a shotgun from her bedroom.

Dallas, TX – Most of us have been through it.  The end of a serious relationship or marriage.  You know, things didn’t work out and its time to cut your losses and split.  Some of us don’t part ways on good terms.  You know how it can be, your every waking minute is consumed with thoughts of revenge, plotting and scheming on how you can make them pay.  Wondering which cables belong to the brakes and exactly how much damage a brick to the back of the skull will actually cause.  Pondering exactly how tamper proof those pesky tamper proof seals are, and googling their drive from home to work every day.  You’ll show him that you don’t take these things lightly.  Besides, his taste in music and movies suck and he was lucky you ever gave him the time of day… Wait, what was I talking about?  Oh yeah, bad break-ups and thoughts of revenge.  Point is, we never do it.  As much as we want them to hurt, we once loved them and those pesky good memories always get in the way. Right?  Well, not for every one.  When Gary Green found out that his wife, Lovetta Armstead was seeking  divorce, he decided everyone had to die, including her innocent children.

Green and Armstead had been in a relationship and living together for 2 years.  She had three children from previous relationships, 12 and 9 year old boys and a 6 year old girl, Jazzman Montgomery.  they had recently married in June, but Armstead was not happy for one reason or another and decided to file for divorce.  Green’s MySpace has him listed as married and includes a slide show almost entirely made up of pictures of him and Armstead.  Armstead’s MySpace, which she logged into the day she died however, has herself listed as Single and other than Green being her #1 friend, has no signs of him anywhere else. Yeah, if my significant other lists themselves as single, you can pretty much take it that I am considering myself dumped.

Monday evening, Armstead dropped the two boys off at church and returned home with Jazzmen.  Green, who had a criminal past, thought he had moved out, convinced her to allow him to get back into the house because his parole officer was going to check on him.  When she arrived home that evening, Armstead found Green waiting for her.  Green attacked her and stabbed her to death and then went after the tiny 6 year old.  The thought of that baby watching her mother die and then having this huge psycho fuck come after her is heart wrenching.  The thought of the fear she must have felt is almost too much for me to bear.  Needless to say, Jazzmen was no match for the monster and was also stabbed to death.

After he was done at the house, he went to the church and picked up the two boys.  Once he got them into the house, he told the 12 year old to take a shower, more than likely to get him out of the way.  It isn’t unfair to assume that this cowardly bastard thought the 12 year old might be a threat.  Green then proceeded to attack the 9 year old, stabbing him in the stomach.  At some point, the 12 year old came back onto the scene, Green forced them into a back room to look at the dead bodies of ther mother and sister.   They were somehow able to convince him not to kill them.  Even though the 9 year old was seriously injured, the 12 year old did not suffer any physical harm.  When Green left, the 12 year old ran next door for help.

After fleeing the scene, in true pussy fashion, Green attempted to overdose and kill himself.  He didn’t try hard enough though, the asshole is still alive.  What a fuck up.  He called his mother and she convinced him to turn himself in.

Green has been charged with capital murder, with other charges pending and is being held on a $1 million bond.  Let him rot.

New York, NY – This is not the week for smart beautiful women.  First Annie Le and now Andree “Sara” Bejjani.  While most people strive to be wealthy, attractive, educated, and successful, and very few achieve it, Bejjani was all that and more.  She seemed to be living the dream life.  Just having been hired as a VP at a US based property investment firm, she moved from Dubai into a condo in a luxury hotel near Central Park a year ago. Unfortunately, having it all got Bejjani some unwanted attention and her dream life ended in a nightmare.  Derrick Praileau, using a maid’s key card, walked into her luxury condo early Saturday morning and viciously murdered her.

Praileau, a married father of two who held a manager position on the housekeeping staff at the luxury hotel, showed up an hour before his shift on Saturday morning drunk.  Key card access records show Praileau entering Bejjani’s condo at around 6 am Saturday morning.  It is alleged that he entered her home, held a knife to her throat while she lay in bed and attempted to sexually assault her.  Bejjani fought off the attack and was stabbed and strangled.  A maid entering the condo later found Bejjani’s body on the kitchen floor.  She was face down, nude from the waist down, her nightgown had been pulled up, her throat was slashed, she had a jump rope tied around her neck and there was a 10 inch serrated bread knife stuck in the back of her neck.  The official cause of death was strangulation, but those details lead me to believe she fought like a hellcat.  I would expect nothing less from a woman like her.

Key card records and video surveillance show Praileau returning to the condo later in he day in attempt to clean up the scene.  Confronted with the evidence, which as far as I am concerned could not be any better unless he had filmed and recorded the entire thing himself, Praileau confessed.  He’s confessed to the murder, but refuses to admit any to any rape.  Whether the sexual assault actually took place is not known at this time, though it is believe that was his motivation for entering.

What pisses me off about this story is that this woman probably worked hard to attain her station in life only to have some psychotic fuck to come along and snatch it from her like an old ladies purse.  Not only that, he was in a  position of trust with access to the many homes in the place where he had been working for 12 years.  12 YEARS.  And to top it all off, he has a wife and two kids at home.

His explanation? “I lost it.”  Bejjani’s family will take very little solace in that explanation.  Yeah, you lost ALOT asshole and you took much much more.

Westminster, CA – “Hi. I just stabbed my daughters and myself.” Those were the words spoken by 38-year-old Thuy Le, very calmly I might add, after getting all stabby on her two kiddos Wednesday morning. “It’s all bloody,” she said. The 911 dispatcher, a little taken aback by Le’s somewhat relaxed demeanor, asked Le why she was so calm. I guess that usually, after going completely off the deep end and poking at your spawn with sharp pointy things, most people are a little more freaked out. Le replied, somewhat snottily, “What? Oh my god. Are you coming?” Yep. They were coming. When police arrived on the scene, they found Le clutching her bloody 3-year-old daughter. Worse, they found Le’s other daughter, just 5-years-old, unconscious, covered in blood, and suffering a stab wound to the chest. 

Le’s cousin, Toan Pham, woke to the sound of screaming kiddos at about 6:30 that morning – Le and the two girls had spent the night on Pham’s living room floor. Pham first encountered the 5-year-old and asked her why she was bleeding and crying. The little girl, unable to speak, couldn’t give him an answer. He then found a bloodied Le holding her youngest daughter. It then became clear – Le stabbed the little ones and attempted to stab herself. “We don’t know why this happened,” Pham said. “My cousin really loves her children. There is no way I could have ever imagined this could happen.” (If you listen the the 911 call in it’s entirety, you can hear exactly when Pham and his wife appeared in the living room).

Le admitted to stabbing the children and scratching herself up a bit. The motive isn’t exactly clear right now – could be marital issues, could be financial issues, could be mental issues. Could be she’s just an attention whore and/or bitch. Le’s 5-year-old daughter suffered a deep wound directly to her heart. She is now in a medically induced coma. The 3-year-old child is in stable condition with numerous but superficial slash wounds, as is Le. When released from the hospital, she will be charged with attempted murder.

Holly Township, MI – We’ve heard it said here on the Dreamin’ Demon time and time again, “The only true cure for a pedophile is death.” Well, Dennis McCarthy has been cured. The world doesn’t have to worry about the pervy fucker ever laying his filthy hands on another child – someone wasn’t pleased with the fact that McCarthy was roaming free and got all stabby on his ass, er, I mean neck. A mere week after McCarthy was released from prison, where he had just completed a one year sentence for sexually assaulting his 4-year-old grandson. Authorities seem to think that this wasn’t a random attack and that he may have known his attacker. No shit? You don’t say. I wonder what led them to that conclusion? McCarthy’s wife told officers that she heard some strange noises at about 4:00 Sunday morning and went downstairs to investigate and check the locks on the doors. At about that time, an intruder busted through the back door. When McCarthy came downstairs to see what all the ruckus was about, the intruder walked past McCarthy’s wife, right up to McCarthy, stabbed him in the neck, and left the home. Done and done. Dennis McCarthy, 64, died later that day.

Authorities describe the attacker as as a white male in his 20’s, about 5′7″.  Police say he has a stocky build and was wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt. Anyone with information on the attack is urged to call the Michigan State Police. (Or not. *wink wink*)

Annville, PA – The couple had been out all day shopping at the local big box retailer and were eager to get back to the trailer. They had just picked up a box of fried chicken and Larry Coletti, 51, was hungry. But tragically so was Fido, which set off a grisly chain of events leading to Larry’s death. Apparently Pamela Poorman, 55, was going to feed poochy before feeding the man of the house and that pissed Larry off. Pamela later confided in police that she had been being abused for some time, so it’s not a leap here to imagine that maybe Larry had his panties a little bit in a wad about the pecking order thing. He was probably all up in her face  yelling and maybe acting like he wanted to serve her an open faced knuckle sammich instead of chicken. They began to fight. Pamela thought of a good way to end it: she picks up a big Rambo style survival knife and threatens him with it. Apparently that didn’t work so she stabbed him in the ass a couple times. He died later that night due to complications from blood loss. Pamela called the cops on herself and was whisked off to jail, no bond. I wonder if she finally fed the dog before the police arrived?

Clermont, FL – Writing a story about some asshole setting his current/ex girlfriend on fire is nothing new – sadly enough, it happens more than one might think it would. What is shocking about this particular story is not only the violence of the act, but the ages of the parties involved – just 14 and 15-years-old. Calva Haskell, 15, is accused of stabbing 14-year-old Taylor Mack several times before squirting some kind of flammable liquid on her and setting her on fire. At about 5:30 Wednesday morning, Taylor snuck out of her house to meet and talk with Calva, who is believed to be her ex-boyfriend. The topic of the conversation is unknown, but, shortly after the two met, Taylor was running to a neighbor’s home screaming for help. After the attack, Calva returned home, where he was later arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder. Calva has no previous criminal history, is said to be a popular kid, and is active in school and sports. What the fuck happened in this kid’s brain to set him off like that? Authorities don’t have a motive as of yet, but, friends of both kids seem to think it’s because Calva had moved on after the relationship, had already hooked up with another girl, and was upset that Taylor still had feelings for him. Officials report that Taylor is listed in serious condition – the details and extent of her injuries are unknown. I’ll update this story as more details become available.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin – Crimes of passion are often referred to as temporary insanity. I sure even people with a sweet disposition reach a snapping point and react severely when the heat of the moment reaches its pique. And so it’s always interesting to see how crimes of passion play out in court:  How they’re defended and how they’re prosecuted. Not knowing if this next case will use this as part of its defense, I think it’s safe to say maybe it should be. Add this and the fact the perpetrator is a 13 year-old girl from Wisconsin, where state law dictates that children over the age of ten, charged with first or second-degree homicide, must be charged in adult court.

Labina Brown, 13, lived with her grandmother, and her grandmother’s new husband, Robert Moon, 46. From neighbor’s testimonials, Labrina was not a happy camper living with this crew. She complained constantly, saying she was going to end up hurting one of them. The same neighbors stated there were underlying issues surrounding this young girl’s life, enough to make her reach the breaking point. Nobody took her seriously.

Saturday was the last free day for Labina. She awakened that morning, sat down for a bowl of cereal and needed some milk to pour on top. But Robert had the milk. He poured a glass for the baby, exchanged some heated words with the 13 year-old, then he looked at her as he allegedly poured the remaining milk down the sink. Pissed off, Labrina followed him out of the kitchen with a paring knife, knocked the glass out of his hand and sliced his neck. Robert yelled, “She stabbed me. She stabbed me in the neck”, collapsed onto the floor and died.

Blood soaked Labrina ran outside and up to a neighbor and said, “I stabbed him. I cut him, I killed him.” When police arrived, they found Labrina outside and she said, “I’m Labrina Brown and I killed him”. She was immediately taken into custody and charged as adult Monday with first-degree reckless homicide, a crime punishable by up to 60 years in prison. Even though Wisconsin State law dictates she be tried as an adult, there’s still a chance, since there is a revision in that law, that since she’s under the age of 14, this case could be waived down to juvenile court. Without knowing all the details of this girl’s life, it’s fairly safe to say Mr. Moon taunted her in this one specific case, clearly didn’t disregard her teenage mouth, and acted like a child himself when he poured the remaining milk down the drain. Hell, milk’s getting expensive.

MAITLAND, Florida. – 60-year-old Diana May called 911 on Monday to report that her 18-year-old son had gone psychotic and had just stabbed her in the arm with a butter knife. While on the phone with 911, she informs them that they need to hurry as her son was looking for another weapon. At the urging of the dispatcher, Diana locks herself in the bathroom but can then be heard yelling “He’s here and he’s got a pitch fork. Don’t do it! Don’t do it! Don’t do it!” when Alex confronts her again with a two-pronged barbecue fork. The line then goes dead. Police arrive at the scene and find Alex in the bathroom. After refusing to drop the weapon, he is shot and killed by police.

It is not clear on why Officer Steve Mendez used a gun and not the Taser he is issued, but I am going to take a guess that when police respond to a home in which they were told an 18-year-old has gone psychotic, stabbed his mother before the line went dead – that they do not enter the home with Tasers drawn. Maitland police nor the Florida Department of Law Enforcement are answering this question yet, for obvious reasons. While a cop shooting a man who they found with a weapon who stabbed his mother is tragic, it isn’t beyond the realm of being a logical reaction in that situation. What isn’t, at least to me, is the actions of Alex. What in the hell happened?

No reports have came in showing Alex as having any history of violence, and even in the 911 call (you can listen to it here) the mother states she should have taken him to the hospital and this this is the “first” episode. I am not saying this is drug related, and I have not read anywhere in which that has been determined the cause, but it reminds me of a friend of mine whose brother had a nasty reaction to some pills he had been given by some friends. Don’t know what they were, or if they ever found out, but I remember him thinking we were talking about him (we were actually laughing at how fucked up he was) and coming into the kitchen with a rifle and kept pointing it at his older brother and shouting for us to quit talking about him behind his back.

Anyway, sucks for everyone involved with this one. Will remain curious as to the cause of the violent outburst as well as the statement in regards to the use of a non-lethal alternative.
