GARLAND, TX – Police have taken a 12-year-old boy into custody for the fatal shooting of 13-year-old Matthew Cisneros, a death police initially thought was a suicide.
Back in February, police were called to a home where Cisneros was found dead from a gunshot wound with a gun lying near his body. According to Joe Harn with Garland Police, it wasn’t immediately certain if the shooting was self-inflicted.
But the resulting investigation revealed Cisneros and a 12-year-old friend were playing with the gun and that the younger boy wasn’t aware the gun was loaded when he pulled the trigger and fatally shot his friend.
The 12-year-old has been placed in custody and is now facing a manslaughter charge. I couldn’t find any details on how the boys got possession of the gun in the first place, but Texas law is pretty clear that anyone who allows a child to gain access to a loaded firearm can be charged with criminal negligence.
A friend of the Cisneros family has setup a GoFundMe page to help with the boy’s funeral expenses.…
BOSTON, MA – Michelle Carter, 18, is facing involuntary manslaughter charges after investigators say she encouraged 18-year-old Conrad Roy to commit suicide last year.
Roy was found dead inside his truck behind a K-Mart last year. The teen had decided to kill himself and did so via carbon monoxide poisoning. After a lengthy investigation, it was revealed that Carter had “strongly influenced” Roy to kill himself.
After his body was found, police searched the teen’s cell phone and found thousands of text messages between him and Carter in the days leading to his death. The text messages continued up until the moments before he died.
“It is alleged that Ms. Carter had firsthand knowledge of Roy’s suicidal thoughts,” the district attorney’s office said. “Instead of attempting to assist him or notify his family or school officials, Ms. Carter is alleged to have strongly influenced his decision to take his own life, encouraged him to commit suicide and guided him in his engagement of activities which led to his death.”
And by encouraging Roy, they mean she basically instructed him to. …
MESA, AZ – Brett Benavides, 42, has been charged after a hammer flew from his hand while vandalizing his girlfriends car, and fatally struck a man in the forehead.
Court documents say Benavides was losing his shit in an apartment complex parking lot, using a hammer to smash in the windshield of his girlfriend’s car.
At some point during Benavides’ dumbassery, he lost his grip on the hammer and it went flying through the air, hitting Steven Melcher in the forehead as he stood on his porch just feet away.
Melcher was taken to the hospital for his head injury, but developed a brain bleed and fell into a coma. He was taken off life support two days later.
“It just really hurts, I feel empty,” said Melcher’s wife of 25 years. “All I know is I want justice,” she said.
Dunno if she will get it, but police have arrested Benavides and have charged him with manslaughter.
One of the reasons why I posted this article, aside from the ridiculous way Mr.…
According to police, the fight apparently began when 56-year-old Benjamin Calderon swiped said foot from the skillet James Jugo was attending to at the moment. It was apparently then that the beating commenced.
Wait…. people eat chicken feet? I’ve seen them in the meat department and shit, but I didn’t know people actually fried and consumed them. I thought that shit was used for voodoo and stuff. I can’t imagine sticking one of those things in my mouth….
Anyway, Jugo told police he beat Calderon to death with his fists, but a witness claims to have seen him swinging a wooden cutting board. At any rate, Calderon is very much dead — the autopsy revealed he suffered internal bleeding after being hit numerous times on the face, neck and elsewhere.
This, surprisingly, isn’t Jugo’s first brush with the law — he’s been arrested at least 19 times on charges that include burglary, cocaine possession, petty theft, probation violation, open container and possession of a dangerous dog.…
Davie, FL — A grieving father, angry over the death of his son in an alleged drunk driving accident, was arrested at the courthouse Monday after attempting to knock the stupid out of the man accused in the boy’s death.
On June 12, 2011, Juan Gonzalez Jr. was riding his motorcycle when he slammed into a Jeep Cherokee driven by John Powers. Police allege Powers was attempting to make a u-turn from northbound State Road 7 at Orange Drive. Gonzalez, who was traveling south, slammed on his brakes to avoid hitting the Jeep. The motorcycle skidded, slid on its side, and slammed into the Jeep. Gonzalez died from his injuries the next day.
A Davie police officer noticed the smell of alcohol on Powers’ breath, and several empty beer cans were found in his vehicle. He blew a 0.15, which is nearly twice the legal limit.
Powers was ultimately charged with DUI manslaughter and manslaughter with an unlawful blood alcohol level. He pleaded not guilty Monday. The Gonzalez family was in attendance at that hearing.…
FORT WORTH, TX — A juvenile court judge has gotten some people upset after she sentenced 16-year-old Ethan Couch to 10 years’ probation for the drunk driving crash that killed four people.
Back in June, Breanna Mitchell’s SUV had a flat tire so she pulled over to the side of the road. Hollie Boyles, 52, and her daughter, Shelby Boyles, 21, lived nearby and had came out to help Mitchell. Brian Jennings, 41, was driving by and also stopped to see if he could lend a hand.
Unfortunately for all of them, 16-year-old Ethan Couch was also on the road, driving drunk. He and some of his seven passengers had stolen some beer from a Walmart hours earlier and were speeding when Couch lost control of his truck, left the road and struck Breanna’s SUV.
Breanna, Hollie, Shelby and Brian were not in the road when the collision occurred, but they were all killed on impact and thrown 50 to 60 yards away. One of Couch’s passengers suffered serious injuries while another remains paralyzed and only able to communicate by blinking his eyes.…
PLATTE COUNTY, MO – Police have arrested a man after the body of 35-year-old Tangela Fisher was found stuffed inside a homemade wooden box.
The box, and its gruesome contents, were found Friday morning in a dry creek bed off East Dye Store Road. It hasn’t been reported how detectives eventually identified 51-year-old Martin Lee Williams as a possible suspect, but when he was interviewed he admitted to accidentally killing Fisher while the two did drugs inside his home.
According to Williams, he prepared a syringe containing a controlled substance for both of them to use, then injected it into Fisher’s arm. When Fisher became unresponsive, Williams decided not to call for help and let her die of a drug overdose.
Now the proud owner of a dead woman, Williams decided it would be in his best interest to dispose of the body. So, using a bit of ingenuity and some tools, Williams used some scrap wood and a ping-pong table to craft Fisher a coffin. Once completed, Williams placed Fisher in the box and then dumped it where it was later discovered.…
CHARLOTTE, NC – A Charlotte Mecklenburg police officer has been charged with manslaughter within a few hours of shooting and killing an an unarmed man.
There are still some unanswered questions regarding this incident and what we do know is that Jonathan Ferrell got into a single-car accident in a wooded area early Saturday morning. The wreck was so bad that Ferrell had to crawl through the back window of the vehicle to get out.
Ferrell wandered a half mile before emerging from the wooded area into a nearby neighborhood. He went to a home and began banging “violently” on the front door. The woman inside opened the door, thinking it was her husband returning home from work. When she saw a large black man standing on her front porch, she shut the door and called 911.
What happened when police arrived on the scene is where some of the details are lacking. Camera footage taken from responding officer’s patrol car show an unarmed Ferrell running towards the officers while lifting up his shirt.…
LINN COUNTY, OR – A woman wanted for a DUI related death in 1997 was found in Canada after she bragged about getting away with murder inside a bar.
Police said in 1997, a then 38-year-old Jean Keating was driving drunk when she sideswiped a car driven by 65-year-old Jewel Anderson, causing her cross the center median and collide with another vehicle. Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene. Keating, as is usually the case with drunks, was not hurt.
Keating was charged with manslaughter, DUII, reckless driving and recklessly endangering another person. But while awaiting trial in March 1998, Keating’s attorney informed authorities he was concerned his client had “flown the coop.”. The Linn County Circuit Court issued a bench warrant for Keating’s arrest and she hasn’t been heard from since. Well, until now.
In early 2013 a police officer in Manitoba, Canada had followed up on a tip about a woman telling people in a bar how she had gotten away with the deadly crash in the United States.…
Los Angeles, CA – A fight at a downtown Los Angeles strip club ended with two men losing some legs after they were pinned between two cars.
Police are investigating a fight that broke out between 40-year-old Terrence Conrad Meeks and two other men inside Sam’s Hofbrau at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday.
The fight spilled out into the club’s parking lot where, according to police, Meeks got behind the wheel of his white BMW and rammed his vehicle into the two men, pinning them both against their Mini Cooper.
Meeks continued accelerating, pushing the Mini Cooper into the side of the building. An act that police say was no accident. “He rammed his vehicle into them with malicious intent,” Lt. Lee McMillion said.
Both victims – ages 24 and 57 – were taken to the hospital, where one had both of his legs amputated above the knee, and the other had his right leg amputated above the knee. They are both listed in critical but stable condition. Luckily, they will live to enjoy future lap dances.…
Dallas, TX – Back in 2011 we reported on Eric Crutchfield, the drunk man who ran over and killed Kasey McKenzie in a strip club parking lot with his “monster truck.” The other day, a jury ruled that the strip club bears 70 percent of the blame and awarded the McKenzie’s family $10.5 million.
For those of you unaware of the original story, 23-year-old Kasey McKenzie was walking in the parking lot of the Spearmint Rhino when she stepped in front of 27-year-old Eric Crutchfield’s dumbass truck. The truck in question was an F-250 that had been lifted so high, Crutchfield must be hung like a Ken doll. Crutchfield didn’t see McKenzie and ended up killing her after running her over with his front and rear tire.
According to reports, patrons had to chase down Crutchfield, who had a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit, who wasn’t even aware he had just flattened a human being with his rolling cock extension. Crutchfield would later be found guilty of manslaughter and is currently serving a nine-year prison sentence.…
PHILADELPHIA, MS.- Neshoba County Sheriff Tommy Waddell says Duane John, 34, has been charged with six felony counts of DUI manslaughter after a crash this weekend that killed an adult and his five children.
Authorities say John was drunk when the Dodge Durango he was driving went off the road, down an embankment, and into a rain-swollen creek shortly after midnight Saturday. Also in the SUV were five of John’s children along with three other adults. No one was wearing their seat belts.
Aside from John, only two other people survived the crash; Deanna Jim, who is the children’s mother, and Dale Chickaway. Killed were Dasyanna John, 9; Duane John, 8; Bobby John, 7; Quinton John, 4; Kekaimeas John, 18 months; and Chickaway’s wife, Dianne Lewis Chickaway, 37.
Waddel said that all of the deceased were still inside the vehicle at the time of their recovery, and that he believes they all drowned.
Duane John was charged after being released from the Neshoba County General Hospital where he’d been hospitalized for hypothermia and water inhalation.…
Malverne, NY – The parents of a 17-year-old boy who crashed his car and killed four of his friends back in October are now being charged with unlicensed operation of a vehicle for allowing him to drive without a valid driver’s license.
On October 8th, 17 year old Joseph Beer was driving with his four 17-18 year old friends as passengers. Around 3:40 am, he was doing about 110 mph when he lost control of his vehicle on a stretch of road called “Dead Man’s Curve.” The car flew into the woods and split in two after hitting a tree. Chris Khan, Peter Kanhai and Darian Ramnarine, all 18, and Neal Rajapa, 17, were all killed in the crash, none of whome were wearing their seatbelt. Joseph was wearing a seat belt and survived.
He is now facing 25 years in prison after being charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated vehicular homicide, vehicular manslaughter in the first degree, four counts of manslaughter in the second degree, and a whole host of other charges that are just different configurations of the words manslaughter, degree and reckless. …
OCALA, FL — A teenager has been charged with manslaughter after he he killed his friend with a sucker punch to the face.
According to reports, 19-year-old Matthew Gunter was in a Walmart when he received a call from someone who is probably feeling like shit right now. The person called to inform Gunter that his friend, 23-year-old Travis Henshaw, was sleeping with his girlfriend.
Angry, Gunter left the store and drove to a home where Henshaw was staying. Witnesses say Gunter confronted Henshaw by delivering a sucker punch to Hensaw’s face. As a result, Henshaw’s brain ping-ponged around in his skull after his head head hit the side of a door and then a concrete floor.
While Henshaw was on the ground, Gunter stood over him and asked why he slept with his “old lady.” After Gunter fled the scene, witnesses say Henshaw began suffering a seizure. He was rushed to the hospital suffering serious brain injuries and placed on life support. On Thursday morning he was pronounced dead.…
Eureka, CA – Maggie Wortman, 27, was sentenced to six years in prison for the death of her 6-week-old son, who died from ingesting meth from her breast milk.
When paramedics arrived at Wortman’s residence on November 21, 2010, Michael Acosta III was found in full rigor mortis. An autopsy report would later reveal the infant died of methamphetamine toxicity. Officials would claim the baby had ingested the meth through Wortman’s breast milk.
Court documents state Wortman tested positive for methamphetamine while six months pregnant and even admitted that, even though she was breastfeeding, she smoked meth “a couple of times a week” for three weeks before the infant’s death. Wortman’s then 19-month-old daughter would also test positive for meth and subsequently be taken into the custody of child protective services.
Wortman would eventually plead guilty to voluntary manslaughter but only because she thought she would get out of doing any time behind bars. But because she was already on felony probation for running a drug house at the time of her son’s death, she was ineligible for the probation she thought she would receive for admitting guilt.…
BALTIMORE, MD — A 13-year-old girl was found shot to death in an alley, buried under a pile of trash, and now two of her young friends have been charged with killing her.
Police say on Saturday night, 13-year-old Monae Turnage was inside a home with two boys, ages 12 and 13, playing with a .22 caliber rifle. The gun fired and Monae was killed by a shot to her chest.
Police say the two boys panicked and dragged Monae into a nearby alley then hid her body under some bags of trash. Afterwards, one of the boys called Monae’s mother to tell her that she was on her way home. When he called a second time to see if she had gotten there, Monae’s mother became suspicious.
When she still had not arrived home by 1 a.m. Sunday, her family called police and started searching for her. Monae’s brother would eventually see her leg sticking out from trash in an alley directly behind the house she had been visiting that night.…
Last Thursday night, 44-year-old Lisa Stilkey and her husband, 40-year-old Alan Stilkey, got into a heated argument. During part of this argument, Lisa was on the phone her son who said he heard Alan yelling, “When you get off the phone, I’m going to kill you.”
A short time after this phone call, Lisa threw a pillow out a second-story window and then followed behind it. It was not a smooth landing. She suffered severe injuries from the fall and was pronounced dead at the hospital the next day.
Alan, an arm wrestling champion, has been charged with manslaughter, assault and battery and threat to commit a crime. He has pleaded not guilty.
Kinston, NC – According to police, Krystal Jones, 24, was preoccupied by her huffing when she drove her car into a building in Kinston, North Carolina.
The building – which had reportedly been a pet store – was being renovated to become a church. More ‘renovation’ is now needed, as Jones squarely smashed it all to hell.
Jones was jailed on a $1,000 bond and, at last report, was still in custody. Police charged her with careless and reckless driving, driving left of the center line and inhaling toxic vapors.
The ‘driving left of the center line’ thing may seem like grasping. It turns out that some grasping was necessary as, North Carolina authorities say, she can not be charged with DWI because the physiological artifacts of huffing dissipate too quickly for impairment to be established post-incident.
It is unfortunate that – apparently – driving through a freakin’ building isn’t a crime…
That said, the fact of the matter is that this incident turned out comparatively well. This case comes on the heals of a couple of more tragic cases.…
