Carl Cottee Jr. Has Been Accused Of Beating His Girlfriend’s 4-Year-Old To Death

Newport News, VA - Carl Cottee Jr., 23,  has been charged with the murder of his girlfriend’s 4-year-old daughter, according to police.

Police were called to a home where Cottee had been caring for Madyson Van Cleave Hook while her mother was out. There they found the girl in a bedroom not breathing and showing signs of  trauma to her body, according to police spokesperson Holly McPherson.

The child was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead from blunt head trauma. Madyson’s grandmother was initially told the girl’s death was an accident, and that Madyson got dizzy after taking a bath, passed out and then hit her head.

But that does not explain the bruises and multiple skull fractures the family would later learn the girl had suffered. ”It’s horrible I just can’t imagine her going through that pain,” her grandmother said. “I can hear her saying, ‘I love my Nan Nan.’”

Want to hear something infuriating? Madyson’s grandmother also said there was suspicion the girl was being abused after Madyson complained of being locked in a dresser and being left alone.…

Aaron Ramsey Sentenced To Life In Prison For Starving His Son To Death

Dallas, TX – Aaron Ramsey, the 35-year-old man who starved his 10-year-old son to death, has been found guilty by a Dallas County jury and was sentenced to life in prison.

If you don’t remember the death of Jonathan Ramsey, let me refresh your memory and quite possibly ruin your morning.

Back in 2011, police began looking into the disappearance of Jonathan Ramsey after the child’s grandfather contacted them, concerned that the boy had not been seen in almost a year.

Police questioned the boy’s father, Aaron Ramsey, and his 31-year-old stepmother, Elizabeth Ramsey. Eventually they would admit that the boy was dead and that Aaron had disposed of his body in an unknown location.

According to Elizabeth, she and Aaron began starving the Jonathan in March 2011 after the boy allegedly punched her in the stomach while she was pregnant with triplets, supposedly causing her to lose the babies.

That’s when Aaron locked Johnathan in a bedroom and only fed him bread, water, and occasionally milk. Jonathan went from 90-pounds to 60-pounds and, according to the affidavit, he was so hungry that he ate his own feces.…

Michael Lucero Accused Of Beating Girlfriend’s Toddler To Death

ONTARIO, CA - An Ontario man is in custody, charged with beating his girlfriend’s two-and-a-half year-old son to death.

Police say Michael Lucero, 20, was booked into West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga and formally charged with the child’s death.

A criminal complaint was filed by the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office alleging Lucero committed abuse of the toddler that resulted in the boy’s death while the boy’s mother was at work.

According to court documents, the injured toddler was brought to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Fontana after he lost consciousness at his home in the 1100 block of East Philadelphia Street Thursday shortly after midnight.

Police officers were called after hospital officials reported a child had been brought in with life-threatening injuries. After being evaluated, paramedics rushed the boy to Loma Linda University Medical Center, where he died later that morning.

“This investigation is still ongoing,” said police spokesman Cpl. Bill Russell. “Detectives are trying to determine if there was a propensity for violence and if anyone else knew this was occurring.”

Police have said Lucero babysat his girlfriend’s child while she was working, and the boy’s mother hasn’t been labeled a suspect at this time.…

Gerardo Chavarria Sentenced For Killing Toddler By Pounding Boy’s Head Into Floor After Spilling His Beer

Keizer, OR - Gerardo Chavarria, 24, was sentenced to 25 years in prison after admitting he got angry with his girlfriend’s 4-year-old son for spilling his beer, and killed the boy by pounded his head into the floor.

In 2011, Chavarria took his girlfriend’s son, Sebastian Iturbetook, to the hospital claiming that he was watching the boy when Sebastian fell down the stairs leading to the basement. Sebastion was transferred to Oregon Health and Science University where he died of blunt force trauma to the head on Nov. 6, 2011.

A medical examination would later show that the boy’s injuries did not coincide with Chavarria’s explanation of events. Chavarria would change his story, saying he’d accidentally pushed the child with a child carrier, causing Sebastion to fall down the flight of stairs. This explanation still did not explain the boy’s injuries, and Chavarria was charged with murder.

Chavarria continued to proclaim his innocence, never admitting to willfully abusing the boy, or intentionally causing his death. But that changed on Tuesday, two weeks before he was to go to trial, when Chavarria waived his right to a trial and told the court what actually happened on the morning of Sebastion’s death.…

Aaron Pace Pleads Guilty To Killing Toddler With Drain Cleaner

Philadelphia, PA - Back in 2010, Jaded reported on 36-year-old Aaron Pace, the man accused of using drain cleaner to kill a crying toddler. On Wednesday, Pace pleaded guilty to third-degree murder and was sentenced to 17.5 to 35 years in prison.

Back in February 2010, police were called to a home where they found 20-month-old Suliaman Orrell Kirkland suffering from chemical burns on the upper part of his body. The boy was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, but would die five days later.

The boy’s babysitter, Aaron Pace, admitted he got angry when the toddler became cranky and uncooperative during bath-time, so he grabbed a container of drain-cleaning crystals and then rubbed the caustic substance into the boy’s skin with a rag.

Those who were first on the scene that day, and hospital workers who tried to save the boy’s life, say that Kirkland’s death still effects them to this day.

“In 14 years with the Fire Department, I’ve seen a lot of death and injured children, but this case is the most horrible thing I’ve ever seen,” paramedic Colleen Stankiewicz said. Police Officer Judith Kinniry said she’s haunted by the sight of Kirkland in the emergency room with burns to 20% of his body, stating that the boy’s body was trembling while his skin was sloughing off.…

Man Accused Of Stabbing Toddler To Death Tells Judge: ‘Please Kill Me’

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. – New to the ever growing list of seriously depraved human beings is 30 year old Micah Harrison. He is currently sitting in jail on a murder charge for allegedly stabbing his 2-year-old son multiple times.

Micah was living in Alabama and had reportedly taken his three children, a 4 and 5-year-old girl and 2-year-old Michael, to Indiana for the day to visit relatives.

No specific motive has been listed in the killing but neighbors reported to police that the little boy had been outside playing with some other children and had fallen in the snow. The outraged neighbors reported Micah then spanked the boy while yelling at him and taking him in the house. Police were called to the Autumn Breeze Apartment just before 5 p.m. Wednesday on a report of a child stabbed.

Michael was found lying between a dresser and a television stand with stab wounds to the center and top of his chest and one to his forehead. Police also found a nail-pulling tool on top of a dresser in the living room and according to police reports, the shape of the tool is consistent with the wound on the child’s forehead.…

Man Found Guilty Of Beating His Stepson To Death With Rolling Pin

Buffalo, NY - A man has been found guilty of beating his 10-year-old stepson to death with a rolling pin after arguing with the boy about homework.

Prosecutors say that on April 17, 10-year-old Abdifatah Mohamud climbed out a window of his home and ran down the street. A neighbor driving by saw the boy running with his stepfather, 41-year-old Mohamed Mohamud, chasing after him. She pulled over and gave Mohamud a ride so he could catch up to his stepson.

After catching up to the boy, Abdi told the woman he did not want to go back home with his stepfather, but Mohamud pulled Abdi into the vehicle and the neighbor took them back home. The neighbor said she stood at the entrance and asked Abdi if he wanted to come study at her house, but Mohamud told her he wasn’t going to do anything to the boy and she could leave.

According to Mohamud, Abdi would not stop trying to flee the house after the neighbor left, so he used electrical cord to tie him to a chair in the basement.…

Convicted Child Killer Stops Fighting Death Penalty, Says He Deserves To Die

Sioux Falls – A man on death row, twice convicted of the rape and murder of 9-year-old Becky O’Connell in 1990, has asked that all efforts to stop his execution be terminated — he’d like to die now.

In 1992, Donald Moeller was convicted of kidnapping O’Connell from a Sioux Falls convenience store, driving her to a secluded area near the Big Sioux River, and then raping her before stabbing her and slashing her throat. Her naked body was found the next day.

He was convicted a second time in 1997, after the original conviction was overturned due to improper evidence was used at trial, and he was sentenced to death. So for the last 22 years Moeller has sat on death row on the taxpayers’ dime while his appeals ran their course. During this time he says he watches the news, reads the paper, writes and watches old movies.

Part of the the delay in his execution wasn’t just because of his appeals, but because of the method of execution used in South Dakota that has left Moeller’s state-court lawyer fighting with Arkansas-based federal public defenders.…

Rowan Ford’s Stepfather Pleads Guilty To Reduced Charges, May Only Serve Six Years In Prison

WAYNESVILLE, MO - It’s been almost five years since I first reported on 9-year-old Rowan Ford. At the time, she was just a missing girl from Missouri whose stepfather was not being cooperative with police. I didn’t know it at the time, but it would take five years for the case to be resolved, and the details of what happened to that little girl would end up haunting me to this day.

Three days after I posted that article in 2007, Rowan’s battered body was located in a sinkhole where she had been dumped after having been raped and strangled to death. The day after, police would arrest Rowan’s stepfather David Spears (who had previously been on the news pleading for her safe return) and his friend Chris Collings. Police would charge them both with Rowan’s rape and murder after Collings admitted to acting alone in abducting, raping, and strangling Rowan, while Spears confessed to participating in the rape of Rowan and being the one who strangled her to death.

Babysitter Accused Of Slamming Baby Pleads Not Guilty In Child’s Death

WAUKEGAN, IL — The Illinois woman accused of killing a 3-month-old baby, allegedly by violently slamming her down on a table, has pleaded not guilty to murder.

Sarah Gumm, 33, is facing life behind bars if she is convicted of the multiple murder and battery charges filed against her in connection to the death of Rylan “Turtle” Koopmeiners, the baby girl she’d been babysitting for six weeks.

On July 27, Rylan was rushed to the hospital after Gumm called 911 to report that Rylan was not breathing. She was pronounced shortly after arrival and an autopsy report would reveal that the girl had a skull fracture and cranial hemorrhaging.

Her cause of death was listed as blunt force trauma, the medical examiner noting a significant amount of force caused the fracture and that Rylan probably died within an hour of receiving the injuries.

Gumm would later admit to investigators that she had gotten angry after Rylan became fussy during a diaper change. “She admitted she put the baby down on a table such that the baby’s head hit the table,” Lake County assistant State’s Attorney Ari Fisz said.…

Police Accuse Man Of Beating Toddler To Death Because She Soiled Herself

INDIANAPOLIS, IN –  A man charged with the murder of a 3-year-old girl has admitted to beating the girl to death because she had soiled herself.

Last Tuesday, police were called to a home where they found 21-year-old Jose Cruz hysterical and his girlfriend in a bedroom with her 3-year-old daughter, Carmen. Police say the girl was not breathing and was “covered in bruises from head to toe.” She was rushed to the hospital and placed on a ventilator, but Carmen was pronounced dead on Wednesday. A medical evaluation determined the girl’s bruises were the result of beings struck with a flexible object, and that she had blunt force trauma to the abdominal area.

Cruz, who was initially arrested on preliminary charges of attempted murder, told investigators that he became upset over the fact that Carmen had soiled herself. In response, he says he beat Carmen with a brown leather belt, shook her, pulled her hair and threw her into a television. Police would later retrieve a brown leather belt from the home as well as a black power cord.…

Houston, TX – Back in May, 23-year-old Matthew Carrillo and 21-year-old Melanie Garcia were both charged with injury to a child after Garcia’s 4-year-old daughter was taken to the hospital in critical condition, suffering from a head injury, bruises all over her body (including her genitals) and a burn on her thigh.

Garcia initially told 911 that her daughter, Kayla, had fallen out of her wagon and hit her head. It wasn’t until after the couple were charged and the little girl died that Garcia changed her story.

She says that her boyfriend was angry at Kayla because of a slow walk home from a Subway where a meatball had fallen of the girl’s sandwich. Once back at the home, Garcia says that Carrillo disciplined the girl by making her pull down her pants and instructing her to brace herself against a couch. When Kayla fell to the floor from Carrillo striking her with a belt, he allegedly picked Kayla up by one arm and beat her with the belt as she dangled in front of him.…

Police Fatally Shoot Woman After She Stabbed Her Grandson To Death

Buffalo, NY — A grandmother was shot to death by police after she stabbed her young grandson to death outside her home.

A scene of unimaginable horror is what two Buffalo police officers encountered when they were flagged down and brought to the front porch of a home. There they found 22-year-old Tiffany Fears performing CPR on her 4-year-old son, Roderick Geiger III, who was bleeding to death after having been stabbed in the stomach and chest by his grandmother.

While the officers began working on the boy they were charged by the child’s 38-year-old-grandmother, Charlene Fears, who was armed with two large knives. She ignored repeated demands to drop the knives and, fearing for their safety, was subsequently shot and killed by one of the officers.

Roderick was rushed to Women and Children’s Hospital, but later died. Charlene’s two other children, who were in the home at the time of the stabbing, were not harmed. The officer who shot Charlene, a 25-year veteran,  is not being named and the case is being investigated by the homicide squad and internal affairs.…

Who Murdered Sierra Newbold?

West Jordan, UT – Early Tuesday morning, Kathy and Brad Newbold awoke to find that their six-year-old daughter, Sierra, was missing. She wasn’t in her bed at the family’s suburban Salt Lake City home. She wasn’t anywhere.  Kathy Newbold called police to report her daughter missing, and within a half hour, Sierra’s body was located in a canal a block from her house. Yesterday, an autopsy found that Sierra was sexually assaulted and murdered while her parents slept.

That’s the story, so far. Cute little girl allegedly abducted from her bed, apparently murdered, dumped in a canal. It’s already national news. The parents are not, at this time, considered suspects. West Jordan is on high predator alert. It’s a tragedy. So far, it appears to be that rarest of crimes – a stranger abduction.  Not unheard of in Utah (see Elizabeth Smart), but uncommon anywhere.

I dunno, though. Maybe I’m cynical, jaded by years of stories that start out this way and end with a parent or weird relative or family friend on trial.…

Jose Baez Thinks Casey Anthony Is A Wackjob, Nobody Is Shocked

Orlando, FL -   Yeah, we knew that was coming.  Defense attorney Jose Baez has written a new book, Presumed Guilty: Casey Anthony: The Inside Story, in which he posits that (surprise!) Casey Anthony is a nutjob. Can I get a “well, DUH,” up in here?

In case you’ve been living in an Amish family (or a cave), Casey Anthony is the mother of Caylee Marie Anthony, the adorable toddler who was reported missing on July 15, 2008. Caylee had actually been missing since June 9 of the same year, and was found dead several months later, duct tape wrapped around her skull, a creepy heart sticker over what remained of her mouth.

Casey was charged and acquitted of first-degree murder in one of the great travesties and tragedies of the Florida judicial system last year. The case broke our servers and doubled our membership, and there may have been a pizza incident that landed us on Fox News, so, y’know, it’s close to my heart.

Now, Casey’s defense attorney is just gonna keep on defending his client, yammering on about how no sane person does the things that Casey did.…

Michael Plumadore Gets Life Sentence For Dismembering Aliahna Lemmon

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – I got an update on 39-year-old Mike Plumadore, the man charged with murdering and dismembering 9-year-old Aliahna Lemmon last year.

On Monday, a judge sentenced Plumadore to life behind bars. Plumadore plead guilty to the murder last month and saved himself from the Pancuronium bromide and Potassium chloride cocktail he so richly deserves.

A few days before last Christmas, Plumadore was babysitting Aliahna and her 6-year-old sisters because their mother was sick. They all lived in the same trailer park and Plumadore was a trusted family friend who had cared for Aliahna’s dying grandfather who passed away a few weeks earlier.

Plumadore said that the next morning he woke up and found Aliahna missing. This would turn out to be partly true as cops would find the girl’s hands, feet and head inside Plumadores’ freezer. The rest of her was found in garbage bags at a nearby gas station. An autopsy report would reveal the girl had died from blunt force trauma and suffocation.

Plumadore was charged with Aliahna’s murder and prosecutors were going for the death penalty.…

Woman Sentenced To Life In Prison For Strangling Her Daughter With Bra

Casselberry, FL – We last reported on Nioshka Bello after she was accused of strangling her 2-year-old daughter with her bra. On Wednesday, she was sentenced to life in prison.

Back in 2009, 24-year-old Bello and her daughter, Janessa Sandoval (cute kid), were living in a home with her mother and stepfather. They were moving out the next day and Bello was not going with them. She attempted to get back with her daughter’s father but an argument ensued when he refused to take her back.

Jobless and possibly homeless, Bello decided she could fix the situation by killing herself and her daughter. After taking Benadryl and Tylenol, Bello took off her bra and used it to strangle her daughter who was sleeping on the bed they shared.

A few days after being taken into custody on a charge of first-degree murder, Bello was found incompetent to stand trial and admitted into a state mental hospital where she once again tried killing herself, and once again failed. This was not out of the ordinary, really, as Bello has a history of failed suicide attempts dating back to when she was 15-years-old.…

Woman Charged In Torture-Death Of Her Three-Year-Old Daughter

Taft, CA - The mother of a toddler was arrested Tuesday for the murder of her 3-year-old daughter at the hands of her live-in boyfriend in January. Sheriff’s deputies say the mother demonstrated a pattern of neglect throughout the torture of the toddler.

Angela Hanna and her 3-year-old daughter Trinity Hanna were living with Angela’s boyfriend Eric Edward Foster, 26. Investigators arrested Foster the day after Trinity’s death. Foster reportedly confessed to the treatment that Trinity suffered at his hands. Investigators have been working since to establish the timeline of Trinity’s injuries and how much her mother knew.

According to documents filed in the case against Angela Hanna – also known as Angela Vickrey, “Trinity Hanna, 3 years, sustained water burns, genital trauma, intestinal tears, and a head injury over a period of several weeks which ultimately led to her death on 1/24/12.” Deputies say the toddler sustained the water burns from an intentionally scalding bath, admittedly at the hands of Foster. The cause of the genital trauma and intestinal tearing appear to be Foster’s admitted ‘slamming’ of the toddler onto her bike and into her high chair.…

Kevin Smith Gets Life Sentence For Rape And Murder of 13-Year-Old Krystal Baker

Texas City, Tx - On Thursday, 45-year-old Kevin Edison Smith  received a life sentence after a jury took 30 minutes to convict him of the 1996 rape and strangulation of 13-year-old Krystal Jean Baker.

On March 5 1996, Baker got into a fight with her grandmother and was looking for a way to get to a friend’s house. She was last seen walking from her grandmother’s house to a convenience store where she tried to call her mother. Her body would be found dumped under a Trinity River bridge later that night. She had been raped before she was strangled to death.

Her murder remained unsolved for 14 years until a Chambers County sheriff’s officer took her dress and resubmitted it for analysis using current technology. A semen stain was found, and the resulting DNA recovered was matched to a DNA sample Smith had submitted after a minor drug arrest in 2010.

After his arrest, Smith admitted on videotape that he gave Baker a ride, then choked her with a leather strap when she “started freaking out on me.”

Smith did not take the stand during his trial, but was defiant in the courtroom regarding the evidence suggesting sexual assault.…

Jury Recommends Death Penalty For Collings In Rowan Ford Case

Rolla, MO -   Well, praise the Lord and pass the ammunition. A Phelps County jury has recommended the death penalty for Christopher Collings, who killed nine-year-old Rowan Ford in 2007.  Yesterday at 6:17 p.m., the jury returned the verdict after forty-eight minutes of deliberation.  Can I get an amen up in here?

Rowan Damia Ford was a sweet nine-year-old who made As and Bs in school even though sometimes her teachers had to make sure she ate. She helped with the Angel Food ministry at her church, and often arrived there hours early on Sunday, even though nobody else in her house went.  She was happy on her bike, riding around town. She liked Disney princesses, spaghetti and the color purple. Rowan was 3’11″ tall and weighed 62 pounds, with long, wavy brown hair, big brown eyes, and freckles across her nose. Rowan did not need to die.

It won’t help us to go over the details of the brutal rape and the strangulation that ended Rowan’s life.  It’s enough to know that she would likely have bled to death, but instead she got a cord around her neck and a horrific end in a dirty trailer.  Rowan was found dumped into a hole that led to a cave, half naked, because Collings and Rowan’s own stepfather, David Spears, are the worst kind of pedophile baby-killers imaginable.…
