Little Rock, Arkansas I simply cannot get over the blatant attempts for attention from some parents. This story, although not mentioned anywhere within, reminds me of a clear case of Munchausen by proxy syndrome. MBPS is a fairly uncommon condition that involves exaggeration or fabrication of an illness or symptoms by a caregiver. Mostly mothers. It is also one of the most harmful forms of child abuse. Austin, Texas–Little Dakota was admitted to the hospital on April 15 with a high fever and a long history of chronic diarrhea. Dakota, who was born premature, has suffered health problems since infancy. Now, here she is, at 3-years-old, continuing to suffer–with a little help from her mom. For several weeks after her admission into the hospital, Dakota cycled from recovery to setback. Charlotte, NC - Meredith Stilwell, 21, has been charged with attempted 1st-degree murder and felony child abuse. She has been accused of trying to suffocate her 11-month-old daughter while the infant was in the hospital.
