TWIN FALLS, Idaho – Alan Jansen’s work has him traveling a lot and away from his home. Around Halloween, he began to notice maggots in his kitchen. So over the next few weeks he began cleaning, only to return home and find more maggots. After finding some in his light fixtures, he deciding that the source of his maggot infestation must be coming from the attic and decided to go investigate. He climbed the exterior staircase to the attic, opened the door, and knew he had found the source of the problem. For one, it smelled like shit. Second, there was a dead body of a man curled up on the floor. The body was of 45-year-old Dennis Crossman, a mentally challenged man known to walk the neighborhood and reported missing in October. No one knows why Crossman was in the attic but no evidence of foul play has been discovered. The most foul, disgusting thing I have ever found in my house was a chick I had brought home the night before. I got her out of my house with a broom – swatting at her while yelling “Shoo!” “Shoo!”

Fayetteville, North Carolina - I’m sure a lot of you have already read about this, but over the weekend the mother of missing five-year-old Shaniya Davis was arrested. Antoinette Davis has been charged with human trafficking, felony child abuse, prostitution, filing a false police report, and resisting, delaying, or obstructing police. Davis is being held at the Cumberland County Jail on $51,000 secured bond. Police say that the little girl was sold into prostitution by her mother. They say that 25-year-old Davis allowed her daughter to be taken “with the intent that she be held in sexual servitude.” The charge came after the arrest of 29-year-old Mario Andrette McNeill. Police said McNeill can be seen on surveillance video at a Sanford Comfort Inn showing him carrying Shaniya Davis towards an elevator early Tuesday morning – before Davis reported her daughter missing. Shaniya is still the subject of a nation wide Amber Alert and what all of this info implies is absolutely horrific. I am having a hard time wrapping my brain around it. How about some of you quit praying to that God of yours for all that stupid, self-serving bullshit so he can keep an eye out on all these kids he supposedly loves so much. Thanks!

Chipley, FL – There’s a baby girl missing – her name is Shannon Dedrick. She’s 7 months old, has brown hair and blue eyes, is 2 feet tall, and weighs about 11 pounds. It has been reported that Shannon may have a growth development problem – a problem that would explain her larger than normal head. Shannon’s parents, whom police aren’t naming, reported her missing Saturday at 11:23 a.m. It is believed that Shannon disappeared from her parent’s bedroom, where they were sleeping, between the hours of 3:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Mom and dad went to bed at 3 and woke up at 11 and baby girl was missing. From their bedroom. Where they were sleeping. Maybe I’ve been hanging out at the Dreamin’ Demon too long, cause that sure as shit sounds kinda hinky.

Lisa Blaylock and Tanya Wilt, the couple’s neighbors, said Shannon’s mother approached them and asked, “Have you guys seen anybody pull in our driveway today?” They responded, “No. Why?” “Cause my baby’s missing.” Because of the calm tone Shannon’s mother used when speaking to Lisa and Tanya, the women assumed she was joking with them. Both women say Shannon’s father was very upset about her disappearance but the mother didn’t seem to be. Rumors are floating around that Shannon’s mother admitted to killing her and burying the body somewhere in the woods near a landfill. Law enforcement won’t confirm the stories. “We’re not going to go into specifics about what she may or may not have said or not said but we’re not doing any digging at the old landfill. The old landfill now is being a staging area for the ground teams,” said Washington County Sheriff Bobby Haddock. Authorities say they do have a person of interest in the disappearance, but aren’t saying any more than that. Sheriff Haddock says nothing makes them think the baby has been abducted, but they realize the baby didn’t just crawl or walk out on her own.

This one probably wont end well, but let’s keep our fingers crossed. 20- year-old Afton Williamson, 18-year-old Kyrstin Gemar and 19-year-old Ashley Neufeld – all three DSU Softball players – went missing while driving in southwestern North Dakota to stargaze Sunday night. A friend called police alerting them to a couple of disturbing phone calls she had received from one of the girls. The calls included “hysterical noises” and the mention of water before the line went dead. The cell phone call came through a tower five miles northwest of Dickinson. All three had cell phones, but they all now go to voicemail. Authorities have searched Patterson Lake along with other bodies of water in the Dickinson area. The girls were in a White 1997 Jeep Cherokee with California License plate 3UBN521. If you have any information on where the girls are or if you see the white Jeep contact the Stark County Sheriffs Department at 456-7610.

UPDATE 11-03-09 — Well it didn’t end with good news, but I am sure everyone figured it wouldn’t. I mean there was always the hope that the phones were submerged in the vehicle and they were just wandering around lost, but that isn’t the case. At around 4:00 today, searchers found the three girls dead inside the Cherokee which was submerged in a stock pond.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, New York – The remains of 18-year-old Jennifer Hammond were found in a heavily wooded near the Edinburg/Greenfield town line. Missing since 2003, Hammond was last seen at the Creek and Pines Trailer Park in Ballston Spa selling magazines door-to-door. The teen had a history of running away, but had a bus ticket back to her home state of Colorado. The ticket was never picked up, and her belongings were left in a hotel room. So now that the “where is Hammond” question has been answered, investigators will move on to figuring out how she died. But there may be more to this. Her death shares similarities with another teen found dead in the area — 19-year-old Christina White.

Investigators have not stated that there is a link between the two girls, but the similarities are pretty damn peculiar. White’s remains were found in 2006 in a wooded area in the Town of Greenfield, New York about four miles from where Hammond’s skull was found. Both White and Hammond were last seen in two different trailer parks less than one mile from each other in the town of Milton, New York. Obviously, this can be a coincidence, but the questions has been raised. Is there a serial killer operating in the area?

Police are not ruling it out, but it looks like they may focus their attention on the suspect in White’s death — John Regan of Connecticut. Regan tried to abduct a female Saratoga Springs High School student from the school parking four months after White’s disappearance. Luckily, the girl was able to escape. Regan, then 50, was convicted of attempted kidnapping. Currently an inmate at Clinton Correctional Facility, Regan was subsequently convicted of kidnapping in a 1993 case, and stalking and restraining another victim in a 2004 case.

Mendota, California - Very little information on this one, but here’s what I got. Alex Christopher Mercado, 4, was reported missing last Friday evening. Alex had been left in the care of an older sibling when he disappeared. About 24 hours after little Alex vanished, his body was found stuffed in the clothes dryer of a neighbor’s home. The body had been placed in the dryer after he was killed. Though police aren’t releasing the cause or manner of death, it is being reported that a 14-year-old boy has been taken into custody and charged with murder. We will update this story as more information is made available.

ST. MARTINS, Missouri – Here we go, another little girl has vanished while walking home. Maybe this will end differently than the Somer Thompson disappearance. At 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, 9-year-old Elizabeth Olten was walking the quarter mile home from a friend’s house in the 600 block of Route D south of St. Martins. She never arrived at her home. The Cole County Sheriff’s Department has issued an Endangered Person Advisory. Olten is a white, 9-year-old female. She is 5′ 2″ and 108 lbs. with brown hair, brown eyes and a fair complexion with physical marks. She was last seen wearing a pink scarf, pink shirt and pink sweater and blue jeans with white sneakers. She was also carrying a cell phone. The sheriff’s department contacted the cell phone provider, AT&T, who “pinged” the cell phone to triangulate its location. AT&T put the cell phone’s location deep in the woods near Elizabeth’s home. The girl’s family members said she is afraid of the woods and the dark.

On Wednesday night, the Missouri State Highway Patrol searched for Elizabeth using a helicopter with a thermal imaging radar. Today, 60 people resumed the search focusing on a section of woods several hundred yards in diameter, which police had narrowed by triangulating the girl’s cell phone location. The battery had died by this morning and an uneven terrain, high brush and soaking weather are hampering the search effort.

“If you go to Iowa and look at a flat piece of farmland that’s 140 acres, you go, well it’s not that big.’ You translate that to Missouri and you use the same thing, you walk a long time to cover that same amount of land,” White said. “It’s muddy out there now. It’s difficult terrain, it’s difficult weather.”, said Cole County Sheriff Greg White.

And before anyone starts bashing her parents for her walking that stretch of road, a commentor over on Topix noted that the girl’s parents were not alerted that she was being sent home from her friends house. So before we get into that territory, let’s wait for some more information to come in.

Update 10-23-09 An older juvenile led authorities to Elizabeth Olten’s body, deep in the woods near where an exhaustive search for the child was under way for much of the day. Little information on this other juvenile aside from them being described as a “person of interest.”

UPDATE 11-03-09

By now everyone knows who the 15-year-old suspect is. She is the older sister of the girl Olten was visiting. Already people are pouring over everything she has said or written on any of the myriad of social accounts she has. These are her alleged Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, Sing Snap and disabled Youtube account (cached version here) which was on Nancy Grace tonight. Specifically her hobbies of “cutting, killing people.” This will be interesting. She seemed like a normal teen chick to me. I’m curious if this was an accidental death that she tried to cover up. In the Youtube video it shows her getting her brothers to touch an electric fence.

The following are simply rumors gathered from emails being sent and chat logs being posted. But supposedly this was a planned murder, a hole dug earlier. She also had help burying the body. She had cut the Olten’s neck and wrists purely to see if she could get away with it. None of this is confirmed, of course. But hey, it’s out there and I’m curious how close tot he truth it is. All stuff we will find out in the future.

Here is the mugshot of 15-year-old Alyssa Bustamante the teen girl charged with strangling and slitting the throat of Elizabeth Olten. She’s a sick puppy and has shown some disturbing behavior for years, including cutting and an attempted suicide at 13.

Orange Park, Florida – On Monday afternoon, Somer Thompson, 7, was walking home from Grove Park Elementary with a group of kids that included her twin brother and 10-year-old sister. After getting into an argument with some of the group, she began running home. She has not been seen since. An Amber Alert has since been issued. Thompson is white, 3 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 65 pounds. She has brown hair that was in a pony tail and was wearing a cranberry colored jumpsuit with pink stripes and a black T-shirt underneath. Her backpack is black with pink and white skulls and crossbones. “This is an all-out search,” Sgt. Dan Mahla, of the Clay County Sheriff’s Department said at a news conference Tuesday afternoon. “We are going to keep trying and trying and trying. We have all these resources and we are maximizing them to the max. “She is an endangered missing child. We do suspect foul play.””

To make matters even worse, one week ago there was a failed abduction attempt in this area. A 5-year-old-girl was approached by a Hispanic woman driving a blue sedan with two Hispanic males. She told the little girl that her mother had instructed her to get in the car. The little girl refused and got upset, attracting the attention of a neighbor who intervened.

Here is a mini  time-line from what I have gleaned from the online reports:

Monday 2:45 p.m – Walking the mile walk home ahead of other kids
Monday 3:05 p.m – Siblings arrive home to find sister not there. Somer’s mother’s boyfriend begins walking the neighborhood
Monday 4:00 p.m. – Mother calls home to check on kids, immediately calls authorities
Tuesday 9 a.m. – Amber Alert
Tuesday All Day- 100 Clay County deputies, law enforcement officers from neighboring counties, the FBI and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement scoured a residential Orange Park neighborhood began scouring the area using helicopters, horses and dogs. 57 sex offenders have been interviewed within a 3-mile radius, and their homes and yards have been searched. The search was expanded Tuesday to a 5-mile radius, and officials say they will interview 30 more registered sex offenders.
Tuesday 7:30 p.m. – Candlelight Vigil held

Here is some heart-breaking video from showing Somer’s mother as she relays the last time she saw Somer – and laments on whether she told Somer she loved her or not.

Also, here is the walk they took. I took a Google Streets Stroll down that path and it is VERY residential with a lot of places for her to go off the path if she were mad at her sister. There is the possibility that she was never ahead of them for long, maybe even hiding and letting them get in front of her. She also had to walk past a ball park of some type where strangers to the neighborhood could go unnoticed.

Like a lot of people had already been thinking, this missing person story will not end well. The body of a small child has been found in the Chesser Island Road Landfill in Flokstin, Ga. This particular landfill is the end of the route for trucks collecting trash in Somer’s hometown of Orange Park, FL. Police have not confirmed that the body is Somer’s, but what would be the odds of it being another child?

Update 10/22 – Clay County Sheriff Rick Beseler states that investigators have identified the body of Somer Thompson. An autopsy, scheduled to be performed today at the Medical Examiner’s office in Savannah, should help determine a cause of death.

Charlottesville, Virginia – Police need the public’s help in trying to find missing Virginia Tech student, Morgan Dana Harrington. She was last seen Saturday night after being separated from friends at the Metallica concert at John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville. Harrington went outside before Metallica took the stage for reasons unknown. “Everyone assumed she’d be coming back,” said Amanda Melvin, a friend of Harrington’s. But she didn’t. Harrington’s purse and cellphone were found outside the stadium and her car was still in the parking lot. She was last seen wearing a black T-shirt with “Pantera” written on the front in tan letters, a black mini skirt, black tights and knee-high black boots (RAWR!). She is 5 feet 6 inches tall and about 120 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes. Her parents reported her missing on Sunday. “Being absent and unheard from for this amount of time is really unusual…unheard of from her,” said Morgan’s mother Gil Harrington.. Anyone with more information about Harrington or her whereabouts is asked to contact Virginia State Police at 434-352-3435 or by e-mail at bci-appomattox@vsp.virginia.gov. University Police can be reached at 434-924-7166.

It reminds me of Silence of the Lambs. Seeing the devastated parents not only getting their daughter’s face out there, but also hopefully pleading with someone who may be holding her against her will. That has got to be a nightmare.

Update – A little more info. Her purse and cell phone were found in the parking lot. The battery from the cell phone was removed. Also, she had went to use the restroom, but later called her friend in the arena and told them that she weas outside of the arena and could not get back in. Rules there state that once you walk out of the building, you do not get back in.

Update: 10-29-09

Here is the timeline outlined by Virginia State Police:

8:20 pm – 9:00 pm – Outside JPJ - State police say Harrington left John Paul Jones Arena about 8:20 that Saturday night. At 8:48 Morgan had a phone conversation with friends telling them that she couldn’t get back into the arena and that she would find her own way back home. Harrington was last seen in the JPJ area through 9:00.

9:00 pm – 9:10 pm – University Hall Area - Between 9:00 and 9:10 she was seen walking through the parking lot at University Hall.

9:10 pm – 9:20 pm – Lannigan Field Area - Between 9:10 and 9:20 she was spotted in the Lannigan Field grassy parking lot, which is also where her purse was found. She appeared to be with or near a group of people. They left without her.

9:20 pm – 9:30 pm – Copeley Road Bridge Area - The timeline ends at the Copeley Road Bridge. Harrington was last seen in that area between 9:20 and 9:30.

Boston – I know, he’s not a good looking, white woman. But us guys got to stick together. 24-year-old William Hurley and his friend, Brendan Venti, were at a Thursday night Bruins game when Hurley became tired and decided to go home during an intermission. He called his girlfriend, Claire Mahoney, who offered to pick him up. She was on the phone with him as she drove to TD Garden from the University of Massachusetts at Boston, where she is a student. Hurley was unfamiliar with the area, and did not know where to tell Mahoney he was so he asked a passerby the exact address. Mahoney heard someone yell “99 Nashua St“. Hurley told Mahoney that his cell was about to die and that he would wait for her there. No one has seen him since.

When Mahoney arrived at that location, she did not see her boyfriend. She drove around for an hour and decided to head back to the apartment they shared hoping he had found another way home. He did not. Mahoney called police, who told her to wait the standard 24 hours. She then called hospitals and friends to no avail. On Friday, she filed a missing persons report.

Boston police spokesman Joe Zanoli said they had “found no indicators of any foul play, but that possibility can’t be ruled out.” On Sunday, Boston police spokesman James Kenneally said authorities “are still in the process of trying to locate the individual. We encourage anyone who knows anything about Mr. Hurley’s whereabouts to contact police.”

Police are reviewing security camera videotapes from Spaulding Rehab, the Nashua Street jail and parking areas near the TD Garden. They are also searching an area near Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital as well as the Charles River. Hurley is 150 pounds and 5 feet 8 inches tall. He was last seen wearing Nike sneakers, blue jeans, a green T-shirt and a red North Face jacket. Anyone with information about Hurley’s whereabouts is asked to call the Boston Police Department at 617-343-4248.
I’ve had to wait outside a few jails. Can be a bit skeevy depending on where you are at.

As everyone knows by now, the body of William Hurley’s body was found floating in the Charles River. No foul play is suspected, but the investigation is still ongoing. His cell phone was found smashed in an earlier search of the area he was last seen. There are no fences or barriers at the water’s edge near where Hurley’s body was found.

OVERLAND PARK, Kansas – I was going to put this up today if she had not been found yet, but looks like I will be putting it up for the opposite reason. Police said they have recovered Keighly Alyea’s body but gave no other details aside from having three men in custody in connection with her death. Alyea, 18, was last seen with her vehicle last Tuesday. Original reports at that time stated she may have been with Jaymes Dean Beebe, 22, and Dustin Brian Hilt, 18. On Sunday, her 1993 green Mazda 626 was located parked unoccupied on the street in the 6200 block of Marty. A third man, Sean Merritt, was questioned. On Monday night police searched two homes, one of them belongs to the relatives of one of the men originally questioned. No other info is being released at this point. The suspects in custody have not been officially named, nor where Alyea’s body was located.

Alyea’s father posted a message on the Facebook group page:

“I would first like to say how much I appreciate all of your efforts to help me find my daughter. I cannot even explain how much it means to me that everyone was so thoughtful. The Overland Park Police just announced that they have 3 people in custody… for the murder of Keighley. They are going to bring her home to us real soon. I must go be with my family now, but please never forget her. I love you, Keighley. Dad.”

Keighley had was involved in a domestic violence situation on Sept. 28 when an ex-boyfriend and his sister got into an violent altercation in which Keighley intervened. That ex was one of the people originally questioned. After going missing, all communication from her had ceased, which threw up red flags immediately.

“She would get on the Internet every single day,” said her uncle, Ed Frentrop, “and talk to people on Facebook and talk to people on her phone and text people. She talked to her mom and dad every single day. She talked to my daughter almost every single day through texting and whatnot. Then everything stopped.”

Not much in way of other information at this time, but I will be sure to update the story as more information becomes official.

Putnam County, FL – Can this case get any weirder? I believe it can. And will. New information is being released that points to the fact that maybe, just maybe, Misty was not in the trailer the night Haleigh disappeared. To some, that would come as no big surprise. On Tuesday, investigators on the case released details of an interview conducted with Hank “Tommy” Croslin Jr., Misty’s 23-year-old brother. Hank, behind bars on unrelated charges of grand theft, allegedly told detectives that he had been to the Cummings’ trailer the night that Haleigh vanished into thin air, under Ronald Cummings’ direction, but nobody answered the door. Why is he coming forward with this information 7 months after the fact? Your guess is as good as mine.

Now, if you remember correctly, Misty told investigators that she had been home that evening, watched some movies, did some laundry, and put Haleigh and her brother to bed before retiring herself, just a couple hours later. Based upon her own polygraph and hypnosis sessions, it seems she hasn’t been very honest about that evening. In an interview on Thursday, Hank Croslin told authorities that on the night of February 9th, Ronald Cummings attempted to get Misty on the phone numerous times. When Misty did not, or would not, answer her cell phone, Ronald supposedly called Hank from work and first asked him if Misty was over there. When told that she wasn’t, Ronald asked Hank to get over to the trailer to check shit out. Hank said that when he got to the trailer at about 9:45-10:00 p.m., the lights were off and all was dark and quiet. So, he took to banging on the door. Nada. He told investigators that he hung around a bit, to see if Misty would answer the door or return home, and when she didn’t, he left. End of story. According to Maj. Gary Bowling of the PCSO, if that is true, “it is the first time anyone has said they went to the mobile home after Cummings’ grandmother Annette Sykes left at around 7:30 p.m.” Curious.

Ronald Cummings’ lawyer said on Tuesday that Ronald did not ask Hank to check up on shit and that he had been in touch with Misty during the evening. However, phone records reveal that Ronald made several unanswered calls to Misty’s cell before calling the Croslin’s residence. Ronald refuses to talk about any phone calls – to either Misty or Hank. “That’s something for the police and lawyers,” he said. He also says that he will continue to focus on finding his daughter.

Misty, sly little genius that she is, is remaining tight-lipped on this new information as well. Her lawyer says that Misty is sticking to her story – even as the whole thing continues to crumble to pieces. Her lawyer says that she may have been asleep, or maybe Hank had the time frame wrong, but that she was there. Right now, detectives are attempting to corroborate this new information. “If he’s telling the truth, it means a lot,” said Bowling. “We are taking it for what it’s worth.”

Hank Croslin Jr., arrested on theft charges on Sept. 15th, remains jailed on $50,000 bail. He’s accused of stealing a handgun from a former neighbor of his parents. It was later returned by the parents after being confronted by the neighbor.

Spokane, Washington Situations like this next story are a prime example of the problems I have with the “insanity” plea. Instead of landing their sentence doing hard time in prison, those that are found to fit some state’s criteria of insane end up in a state run mental institution with many more liberties than are already afforded in our penile system today. And that’s saying a lot. Prisoners today don’t have it too bad. Those landed in the loony bin have it better. Plus, they don’t have to fuck for their drugs, the nurses just like give it to them. I think anyone that commits a crime punishable by time in jail has to be a little off their rocker thus rendering the “insanity” plea moot. But Phillip Paul’s performance was stellar and he was sentenced to a mental institution years ago yet he was totally in charge of his faculties enough to escape.

Phillip Paul

In 1987 Phillip Paul was found guilty of the murder of an elderly lady by strangling her, dousing her body with gasoline to throw off her scent, and then he buried her in her flower garden. Why? The voices in his head told him she was a witch. Shit, even I can come up with that line, put a crazy look in my eyes, and totally make myself believe it. It all comes down to determination. And he’s one determined little fucker. And clever. And it’s with his handy diagnosis of “criminally insane” plus a dose of schizophrenia on top, he’s spent every single minute of time in a mental institution instead of prison. Except for the times he got to go on field trips for fun…and then the times he was allowed to work off site…oh, and the times the judge granted him “home” sleepovers.

But the latest…a fair in Spokane in which Eastern State Hospital took some of their residents. This shit is determined on a case by case basis and not on someone’s sentence or “crime”. What better way to top off a perfect day at the fair than split from the rest of the loons and make it on his own. The worse part? The hospital staff that were chaperoning the group didn’t report him missing to the authorities for 2 hours. That really is a whole lot of time considering a timely notification could have led authorities to scour the immediate area. Oopsy. Bad call.

Phillip Paul is believed to have been spotted and there is a chance that he may be trying to hitchhike to Sunnyside, where his parents reside but it’s hard to determine what may be going on in that crazy little head of his. Suffice it to say, the cops are pissed the hospital dropped the ball. I imagine the residents around that area are a bit uptight as well.

Phillip Paul is 5′9″ tall, weighs 207 pounds and is a white guy with brown hair and a goatee. Before he split, he was wearing a pair of blue jeans, a blue T-shirt and had a red windbreaker jacket. If you run across him, do us a favor, don’t take him back to Eastern State Hospital. They suck at their job. This murderer had a 2 hour jump on his escape before the authorities, who are trained and have resources, were notified. Sounds like a fine candidate for prison, not a field trip.

Oh, did I mention? This isn’t the first time Phillip Paul has escaped. The first time, in 1990, he attacked a sheriff’s deputy.

New Haven, Conn - I know the news has been all over this one already, but there are two reasons why I am posting this. Obviously, the first being that they have found the body of 24-year-old Annie Le. She was the Yale student who went missing after entering a Yale University laboratory on Tuesday morning. She was never seen leaving the building and now it is known why. Her body was found stuffed behind a wall in the basement of the building. “She hasn’t been positively identified, however, we are assuming that it is her at this time so we are treating it as a homicide investigation,” Reichard said.This comes after investigators found bloody clothing hidden in the ceiling tiles.

Her body was found shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday, shoved into a space in the wall meant to conceal pipes and wiring. The bloody clothing did not belong to Annie Le, and with no other info being released, and no particular manhunt on the way, people are theorizing that a suspect has already been identified. Oh, here’s something interesting, The New York Daily News reported on Saturday that police had questioned an unidentified Yale professor, claiming that Le was the his student and had been due to attend his class on the day she vanished. But the class was abruptly canceled and hours later Miss Le was discovered missing. Hmmmm…

This chick was a hottie though, right? She was supposed to be married to her fiancee, Jonathan Widawsky on Sunday. Early speculation of her being a runaway bridwe were met with friends and family stating she was not that type of person and no matter how out of his league Le appeared to be in regards to Widawsky – she was excited about the approaching wedding. Ok, I added the “out of his league part”. She was only 4′11 and 90 pounds, so whoever did this probably didn’t have too much of an issue. All this made a bit ironic when considering Le recently wrote an article entitled Crime and Safety in New Haven. The article gave tips and advice on how not become a victim of a crime, and concluded with “In short, New Haven is a city and all cities have their perils…But with a little street smarts, one can avoid becoming yet another statistic.”

The other reason for posting this is because we had a similar case like this and I am having problems finding it. A woman went missing from her apartment, all her belongings where there. Her body was later found in a hiding spot in the laundry room of the complex if I am not mistaken. Any help finding that story or any updates on it would be appreciated. I forgot all about it until this incident.

Hookstown, PA - Wyatt Smitsky, 4, was reported missing at 7:30 Friday evening – he was last seen playing in the yard with his sisters, ages 3 and 6, around 6:30 that evening. It was believed that Wyatt had simply wandered away from home and got lost. Authorities were especially concerned when it was revealed that Wyatt suffered from an congenital heart defect and required medication. Authorities, family, friends, and neighbors searched for Wyatt until 4 a.m. – coming up empty. The search started anew at 11:00 Saturday morning, but was called off a little less than two hours later. Wyatt had been found – face down in a septic tank filled with solid waste. And authorities don’t believe Wyatt accidentally made his way into the tank. The lid on the tank, which is similar to a manhole cover, was way too heavy for Wyatt to maneuver on his own. Besides that, the heavy lid had been moved back into place after the child was placed in the tank. Curious…

Investigators started smelling bullshit early on – shit just wasn’t adding up and stories from family members about events surrounding his disappearance were conflicting. Investigators aren’t saying what led them to search the tank, but a haz-mat crew was called in early Saturday morning to drain the tank and there he was. Investigators believe Wyatt’s body had been there since Friday evening when the missing person report was filed, or even earlier. They are not releasing any information about possible injuries or cause of death pending autopsy, but they have classified the death a homicide. The septic tank was about 50 yards away from where Wyatt was last seen playing.

Wyatt’s parents, 28-year-old Terri Smitsky, and John Smitsky Jr., 29, were taken to the station for questioning. Terri’s interrogation must have been quick and to the point -  she was released shortly after being taken in. John, however, was questioned for about five hours. He left the station with an attorney at his side. “As far as he’s concerned, it was an accident,” John’s attorney, Joseph Horowitz said. “He’s overwhelmed. As you imagine, he says he had nothing to do with it, and he’s been in custody, and his son died. It’s a terrible day for him.” Horowitz also mentioned that John hasn’t been charged as of yet. Police have not charged anyone *coughJohnJrcough* with the murder of Wyatt Smitsky, but do believe an arrest is imminent. As always, we’ll get this story updated as new information is released. And personally, I’d love to know what kind of asshole would end this little cutie’s life and toss him in the shit tank – if you come across any information, please, give me a nudge.
