We’re almost halfway through 2009, and my favorite read of the year has very little competition. I’m not sure if it will even be a contest. Dave Cullen’s Columbine was ten years in the making, and it may be another ten before we see its equal. Riveting, educational, and emotionally powerful, Cullen’s book has it all. Columbine has the potential to do real good if it reaches a wide audience. Seeing the book storm up the NYT Best Seller list and hang around for months is heartening. Interview With Daniel Suarez

Daniel Suarez’s startling first novel, DaemonDaemon reviews, lands on store shelves this Thursday, January 8th.  If you have read my review of Daemon, you’ll recall that we gave it 6 stars out of 5, which brought our site down for a few days (perhaps an early sign of the Daemon’s awakening?). The fact that Daniel took time out of his busy schedule to answer some of our questions also makes me nervous. Interview with Tana French

It is fitting that our first interrogation victim would be a recipient of the Edgar Award for best debut novel.  Tana French’s In the WoodsIn the Woods reviews won praise in our review and has had critics and readers clamoring for more.  She dutifully followed with a sequel, The LikenessThe Likeness: A Novel reviews, which features some of the same characters, but with a new protagonist at the center.  We already have our copy and will be doing a review of it soon.
