Man Steals Dead Woman’s Ashes Then Threatens To Snort Them
April 17, 2012 at 2:22 pm by Rebekah Herzberg
Lakeland, FL - A man in Florida allegedly stole a dead woman’s ashes and told the dead woman’s mother that he was going to snort the remains.
Joseph Pointer, 51, briefly lived with Angela Speakman this month. Speakman believed he stole the remains of her sister after he moved out of the residence. Speakman’s sister died in a car accident in 2008 and she shared her sister’s remains with their parents.
Speakman’s mother says that Pointer drove by her home one day last week shouting, “I’ve got your dead daughter’s ashes and I’m going to snort them.”
Pointer may not have gotten around to snorting the deceased woman’s ashes but he was eventually arrested and charged with grand theft. He remains behind bars on $1, 000 bail.
Not surprisingly, this wouldn’t be the first story we have reported on here involving someone in Florida snorting someone’s remains. Last year, a teenager broke into a home and snorted the remains of the owner’s deceased father AND two Great Danes thinking the ashes were cocaine.…

April 17, 2012 at 11:42 am by Morbid
UNION TOWNSHIP, OH – A 20-year-old woman was arrested the other day after police say she raped a teenage boy at knife-point.
Jamie Phillips has been charged with felonious assault, kidnapping, rape and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor after the parents of a 14-year-old boy contacted them and relayed an unbelievable story. According to them, Phillips forced their son into her home where she made him perform sex acts.
“This young juvenile victim walked out from visiting his mother to get something out of the car. When he walked outside, a neighbor, which he had been associated with simply by being her neighbor, approached the victim put a weapon to his throat and chest area, and ordered him back into the apartment,” said Sgt. Scott Blankenship with Union Township police.
The victim was not physically injured and was able to leave the home only after Phillips was distracted by a knock at her door. He told some friends about the encounter who encouraged him to inform his parents. Investigators found a knife inside Phillips’ residence, as well as other evidence supporting the teen’s story.…

Chicago, IL - A notice posted in a “Missed Connections” section of Craigslist last week purportedly seeks a man the poster had sex with at a Megadeth concert with the woman stating that she is now pregnant. Wait… That doesn’t sound like a missed connection to me!
Gigantour 2012 brought Megadeth, Motorhead, Volbeat, and Lacuna Coil to the Chicago area on February 10. In a post entitled, “Did we hook up at the Megadeth/Motorhead concert?,” someone claiming to be a 28-year-old woman recently posted a message on Craigslist looking for the man she had sex with in a bathroom of Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom.
“Me: Blue hair, silver tube top, fishnets, Knee-high black biker boots. You: Red mohawk, black pentagram gauges, viper piercings,” the post began.
“I was grinding on you in the pit, then we went to the bathroom…”
The post – which has since been flagged for removal – then went into detail about the porcelain-enabled encounter. A screengrab of the posting can be seen here.
“Anyway I’m pregnant.…

DES PLAINES, IL – A 37-year-old man in Illinois drowned in a condo’s retention pond after being attacked by one or more swans.
Anthony Hensley worked for Knox Swan and Dog LLC, a company that places swans or dogs in areas experiencing problems with the geese population. Hensley was at the Bay Colony Drive condos early Saturday morning, caring for swans they’d placed in their retention pond.
Residents say Hensley has been a regular visitor there for years, often seen on the pond in his kayak caring for the swans and feeding them. But tragedy struck that morning when one or more of the swans attacked him. No one knows exactly what prompted the attack — some thinking he just got too close to their nest or eggs — but whatever the reason, it resulted in Hensley’s kayak flipping over.
He was a good swimmer, but a combination of being fully clothed and wearing boots made it difficult for Hensley to keep his head above water. This was made especially laborious by the swans who continued their assault on Hensley as he tried to swim to shore.…

Houston, TX – Police have charged three people with abducting a woman, beating her and then setting her on fire.
According to court documents, 25-year-old Garrick “Joker” Hastings told a friend that he had killed a prostitute who had stole $6,000 from him. He claimed he had her kidnapped and taken to an abandoned trailer where he beat her with a metal rod, tied her up and then set her on fire.
Unfortunately, it turns out he wasn’t lying. However, he wasn’t entirely correct. Surprisingly, the woman somehow survived the attack, even though she suffered burns to 80 percent of her body, and had identified her attackers to police.
According to the victim’s aunt, her niece lived with her boyfriend and Hastings, an alleged drug dealer and gang member. She says that shortly after hearing her niece arguing with Hastings about drugs and money, the victim was abducted from a motel and taken to a trailer. She was reportedly held there by 37-year-old Anita Pena until Hastings showed up.
When Hastings arrived he, along with 37-year-old Thomas Martin, tied her up and beat her with an iron bar before setting her on fire and leaving her for dead.…

ROCKFORD, IL – As my co-workers can attest to, I do not iron. That’s what a wife is for. Or sometimes in my case, a dryer. It’s not that I don’t own one, as I love my grilled cheese sandwiches. I just don’t own an ironing board. I waved bye to it as my ex drove away in a U-haul packed with other things she owned that I paid for.
But I can honestly say that I if I did need an impromptu ironing board in the face of some kind of emergency, the last thing I would have ever thought of using would be a sleeping child’s back. A foot stool or wheel chock? Sure. But not an ironing board. Inexplicably, 43-year-old Elliot Moore didn’t have that same line of thinking when he used the back of an 18-month-old girl to iron a shirt.
Back in 2010, Moore was watching a woman’s two young children while she was at school. Because the 18-month-old was sleeping on his lap, Moore was experiencing difficulties ironing his work shirt.…

April 16, 2012 at 8:33 am by kniption
Brooklyn, OH - An Ohio father was killed by police after shooting and killing his wife and daughter – and critically wounded a second daughter – during the murdered daughter’s birthday party at Cracker Barrel. This after the wife told him that she was divorcing him.
According to police records, on Thursday evening Katherina (Kate) Allen, 42, brought her daughters Kerri and Kayla, both 10, to Cracker Barrel to celebrate Kerri’s birthday with their father Kevin Allen, 51,. Because of an “incident” that had occurred Easter Sunday, Kate Allen had left the family home with the girls to stay with a family friend. Kevin Allen arrived to the restaurant separately.
During the course of the dinner, Kate Allen reportedly called police saying she had just told her husband she wanted to end their marriage and that he had left the restaurant and was circling the parking lot. She added that she feared ‘he might become violent.’
Her fears were not unfounded. Three minutes later, Kevin Allen would walk back into Cracker Barrel carrying a loaded shotgun.…

Schifferstadt, DE - A German gynecologist lost his physician’s license after being found to have a over 35,000 photographs and several videos of his naked patients. He has since filed an appeal to get that license back.
The doctor – identified in the press only as 56-year-old Dr. med. Joachim K. – came to the attention of authorities last November after medical assistants alerted them to his collection of photographs. To date, almost 2,000 female patients have been identified as having been photographed during examinations at his office.
“He stands accused of secretly taking photos of female patients’ private body parts,” local state prosecutor Lothar Liebing said. “We now need to make clear to what extent he has done this and, of course, why he did this.”
As a result of the investigation, the doctor’s practice was closed in November. At the time of the suspension and closure, 700 women had reportedly agreed to press charges – fully 85% of the women identified from their pictures. It is presumed that the remaining 15% were simply bitter that the doctor had failed to capture their ‘best side.’
The doctor, who has not yet been charged, will appear before an administrative hearing on April 19 at which he will seek to overturn that suspension.…

Renton, WA – I can’t say I’ve had a lot of acquaintances over the years who I would expect to crop up on this site, but if I ever had one, this would definitely be the guy.
Please give a big Dreamin’ Demon welcome to Wesley Strom, 41, and car thief extraordinaire. Wesley, or Wes, as we knew him, has always been an extremely proficient car thief and, while this is not his first time getting busted for this particular hobby, it is certainly the most spectacularly moronic.
His undoing began March 14th, when he inadvertently pocket-dialed 911. It didn’t take long for the dispatcher to realize that they were listening to a crime in progress. ”You pull up, I jump out,” Wes clearly states in the released 911 call. ”I’ll go jiggle a key; I’ll be done in…37 seconds.”
The call lasted for 44 minutes. Although cops were dispatched to the area, and a report of a stolen Toyota 4Runner pinpointed the location for them, police were unable to find both the 4Runner and the thieves.…

MURRIETA, CA – A man in California is facing attempted murder charges after being accused of duct taping his 76-year-old mother to a chair and cutting off her oxygen supply.
Police say on Sunday, 46-year-old Gregory A. Cornelius called a friend from The Colony retirement community where he lived with his elderly mother, JoAnn Cornelius, and informed him was going to kill her and then himself. The friend called police.
By time they arrived, they found Gregory had already assaulted his mom, who was suffering from bruises, cuts and broken bones. Gregory had also duct taped her to a chair and cut the tube to the oxygen tank she needs 24 hours a day to help with her respiratory problems. She was rushed to the hospital and was still there on Tuesday.
Gregory Cornelius was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, kidnapping, cruelty to a dependent adult and other charges, and was placed in jail on $1 million bail. Reports are that Gregory became angry at his mother on Sunday after finding she had not done his laundry.…

April 12, 2012 at 8:40 am by kniption
Toledo, OH - An Ohio man is in the doghouse after being charged for abandoning six puppies zipped inside suitcase next to a dumpster. Howard Davis, 53, was identified using his name and address from the suitcase luggage tag.
A homeless man reportedly witnessed the dumping of the suitcase and the puppies’ mother.
“I saw a gentleman in a silver pick-up drop something near the dumpster.” said witness Scott Snyder. “When he took off, I see a female dog chasing him.”
Maddie, the puppies’ mother, made her way back to the dumpster and was described as ‘keeping guard of something.’ Snyder approached and reportedly found the suitcase with the 4-week-old English bulldog mix puppies inside.
The Lucas County Dog Warden responded. Officials said it did not take much time to track Davis down. Howard Davis’ name was on the suitcase luggage tag and Maddie was registered in his name.
“Apparently the gentleman who owned them was moving away, and it appears as though they didn’t fit into the move,” said John Dinon, the Director for the Toledo Area Humane Society.…

April 12, 2012 at 8:38 am by kniption
Denver, CO — A female passenger at Denver International Airport was detained after stripping naked at a departure gate on Concourse B, airport officials said.
According to a DIA spokeswoman, the woman was caught smoking a cigarette Tuesday at a departure gate – which are designated non-smoking areas. Airport workers reportedly instructed her to extinguish the cigarette after which time the woman removed her clothing and asked the gate agent to reprint her boarding pass.
Thankfully, safety-minded citizens were able to capture the incident on a cell phone camera. Denver’s Concourse B does have a smoking lounge.
I personally think that – with the current police state we have surrounding airline travel – when a uniformed officer demands that someone “extinguish their butt” – they should be better prepared for this sort of misunderstanding. …but that’s me.
Denver police say her nakedness was unrelated to the smoking issue – although they could offer no explanation as to what it was related. Authorities transported the woman to local hospital for evaluation.…

Salem, Conn. – It’s been a few months since we’ve had a wood chipper story here at D’D. Sadly, this new one out of Connecticut may be the first one we have featured that involves a child.

The boy’s father owns a tree removal service and had brought his three children along with him to a home where he doing some tree work.
While the man’s back was turned, his 6-year-old son tried to help his dad by feeding a branch into the chipper. Unfortunately, his arm got stuck and he was pulled inside the machine.
Officials are investigating, but say it appears to be nothing but a tragic accident. Grief counselors will be available at Jeffrey’s school starting today, although school is out this week.

April 11, 2012 at 2:02 pm by Morbid
MONROE, Wash. – Last year we reported on the heinous murder of Jayme Biendl, the 34-year-old prison guard at the Monroe Correctional Complex, who was murdered in the prison chapel by inmate Byron Scherf. His videotaped confession has been made public, one in which he explains why and how he killed Biendl.
Scherf was serving a life sentence for rape and assault when he was noticed missing during a head count last year. He was eventually found sitting in the prison’s chapel where he often volunteered, suffering from scratches and bite marks to his arms and hands.
He explained he had been attacked by a pack of Mexicans and had fallen asleep in the chapel. It was an hour later, while Scherf was being questioned in the shift lieutenant’s office, that Biendl’s body would be discovered inside the chapel. She had been strangled to death with an amplifier cord.
Scherf would be charged with Beindl’s murder and the prison would suffer some fallout in regards to Biendl’s fellow employees trying to cover their incompetence, and even some changes that improved worker safety.…

SHREVEPORT, LA — A 10-month-old boy suffered severe head trauma after his mother allegedly threw him through an open car window while arguing with the child’s father over money.
Police say that on Saturday, 29-year old Carmen Paul was arguing with Felthon Hall while holding their son. Fall was sitting inside a car and claims Paul got so angry that she threw the boy through the open car window in a fit of rage.
Hall was able to catch his son, but not before the child hit his head on the car’s metal door frame. It must have been one hell of a throw because after Hall rushed the boy to the hospital, doctors would find he was suffering from a skull fracture and bleeding on the brain.
The baby is currently in the hospital in stable condition while his mother is in jail. She reportedly walked away from the scene after giving her son the heave-ho, but was picked up later and charged with second-degree cruelty to a juvenile.
She’s lucky she didn’t kill the boy, especially since his skull hasn’t even fully developed yet.…

April 11, 2012 at 8:41 am by kniption
Chesterton, IN - An Indiana teen was arrested after phoning in a false report of an armed robbery in a failed attempt to get her boyfriend out of a traffic stop. Karley Fink, 19, was identified as the caller and arrested.
The saga began when Nicholas Petrovich, 19, was stopped by Sheriff’s police for a traffic infraction early Sunday. Petrovich – whom the officer described as acting nervously and smelling of marijuana – reportedly told the officer that he was on his way to meet his girlfriend at a nearby movie theater.
As the officer was calling for backup, the dispatcher informed him of an armed robbery of a woman reported to have just occurred in the parking lot of a nearby bank. The officer immediately ended the traffic stop and went to the bank. No victim was found.
The officer then reportedly went to the movie theater to which Petrovich had said he was driving to meet his girlfriend and found Petrovich in the parking lot waiting. The officer then asked for and received Petrovich’s girlfriend’s phone number.…

Chicago, IL - Police were able to track down a man who robbed a Radio Shack store using the global positioning equipment that was stolen in the robbery.
According to police, Raymond Jefferson, 20, entered a south Chicago Radio Shack Friday night, threatened the people inside with a handgun, bound them with plastic ties, took their cell phones, and then fled with $17,000 in electronic merchandise from the store.
Unfortunately for Jefferson, among the stolen items was one or more with global positioning that reportedly led officers to him. Police arrested Jefferson approximately two hours after the robbery.
It is clear that the quick apprehension using the GPS technology saved both time and effort. Not so long ago, Jefferson would have been forced to take a photograph of himself alongside the merchandise using a stolen camera, upload it to the internet using a stolen laptop, and then contact police using a stolen phone to direct them to the evidence of his crime.
Technology rewards us in so many ways.
Jefferson has been charged with armed robbery and aggravated kidnapping.…

Modesto, CA – A California teacher who made national headlines for leaving his wife and three children for a teen student, has been accused of sexually abusing a different teenage girl that he taught in 1998.
Jordan Powers, 18, quit school to move in with her teacher James Hooker, 41, has now dumped him following his arrest for alleged sexual misconduct with another student. Jordan, who last February defended their odd pairing on national news, now fears there may be more students
“My heart dropped. I felt betrayed. I just have a gut feeling there are other girls,” Powers said, according to the ABC News interview. She went on to say, “He called me from jail and, yes, I told him that we’re done. I lost everything for this guy. I lost my senior year. I gave up all my friends at high school because they didn’t agree with me.”
Jordan’s mother, Tammie Powers, is pushing for a bill in California that would make it a felony for a public school teacher to date a student in the same school, regardless of age, even if the student is 18.…
