Seth Tatum and Lou Perryman

Texas - I am late putting this up because I completely missed it until I saw it listed in the Daily Bite. On Wednesday, Carl Drake was attacked by his bi-polar stepson, Seth Tatum. He was attacked with a pair of hedge clippers and suffered multiple injuries, including a fractured skull. Seth left the residence and ended up at a home 3 miles away. Witnesses state that Seth struck up a conversation with homeowner and then went inside. A short time later, Seth was seen driving away in the man’s car. On Thursday, Seth Tatum drove to the Travis County Courthouse, pulled into a parking space and approached a few officers. He then stated “By the way, that’s a stolen car and Im pretty sure I killed the owner of that car.”

Sadly, he was not lying. Police entered the home from which Seth had taken the car, and found 67-year-old Louis Perryman dead. Investigators say his body was covered with multiple slash marks. Now some of you may not recognize the name, or even the face of Mr. Perryman. But horror fans know the man well. All though he has multiple credits in films over his career, films like Poltergeist and The Blues Brothers, he was also known as L.G. from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2.

Police say the meeting was purely random, and that Perryman was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Tatum had just recently moved into his mother’s home after having served some time for aggravated robbery. His mother, Joan Tatum, stated that he was off of his meds and had been drinking. She also stated that she tried to get him help on Tuesday at a local counseling center but had to leave because they could not afford the treatment.

Rachel Kenney

Mooresville, IN - An employee of Mooresville High School was outside in the parking lot while a pep rally was going on inside. They noticed a woman exit a parked vehicle leaving it  running with the flashers on. Later, they noticed the vehicle still sitting there running they went to investigate. Peering inside the running vehicle, they observed a baby bundled up and asleep on the back seat. The employee called police. The tag number was ran by the responding officer and the vehicle’s owner was identified. It was registered to a Rachel Kenney, 23. She was the assistant girls basketball coach and inside participating in a student versus faculty basketball game.

Rachel was paged and came outside to meet officers…and this is where the story gets a little frustrating. Rachel does not feel that she had done anything wrong. She told police that she had to participate in this game, and her 9-month-old son was sick. She decided to leave the baby in the backseat, with the doors unlocked, the vehicle running as well as the heat instead of carrying him inside. Police asked why she didn’t leave the baby at home, and she informed them that no one was there to leave the baby with. When the officer remarked that the well-being of her child was more important than a basketball game, she became a bit agitated.

She told the officer “I am Rachel Kenney and nobody would take my baby! People don’t steal cars in Mooresville and besides, there are cameras everywhere!” Police called Kenney’s mother, since she lives with her, and were able to leave the baby in her custody. When Kenney’s mother arrived at the scene, she also was upset at situation. But not with her daughter. She was upset with police for arresting Kenney, stating that she too felt that her daughter had done nothing wrong and that the baby was in no danger.

Now, at first I was going to give Kenney the benefit of the doubt. I was assuming that Mooresville, Ind must be a car lovers dream. A city in which you could walk into a parking lot on any given winter day and see rows of vehicles running with sleeping newborns bundled up in the backseat. Where a man could take his Mercedes and leave it unlocked and running while he went inside the grocery store with no fear of returning to an empty space where his car once sat. Until I checked and saw that while Mooresville doesn’t have big city numbers in regards to car theft, they did have at least 55 stolen cars reported during 2006 and 2007. That also had me wondering if Kenney would have taken out her life savings and left it laying visible on the seat of her vehicle instead of her son.

Regardless of whether or not Kenney and her mother feel her charge and arrest was justified, she was charged with neglect of a dependent, a D felony. She’s scheduled to appear in court later this month. She faces up to three years in prison if convicted.

…to beat up an elderly lady?

Jeffrey Nelson, Luis Osborne, & Antoinette Baker

El Cajon, CA–Three, two to knock the crap outta her and one to stand by and watch. This fine trio of thug wannabe’s are Jeffrey Nelson, 19, Luis Osborne, 18, and Antoinette Baker, 18. They are responsible for the kidnapping and torture of 75-year-old Natalie “Sandy” Herbst-Vinge.

Nelson, a salesman from a carpet company, first came into contact with Herbst-Vinge last Monday morning…he sold her a $2,000 Kirby vacuum cleaner. Later that evening he returned to her home and asked if he could use her phone. When she turned around to allow him into her home, he attacked her from behind, choking her until she was unconscious. After he tied her hands and feet and slapped duct tape over her mouth, he ransacked her home in search of cash and credit cards. At some point, Nelson called a couple of friends to come and enjoy the mayhem. Enter Osborne and Baker.

It wasn’t enough that Nelson ripped off and choked Herbst-Vinge, I guess he had to prove himself a real thug in front of his friends, so he threw the woman in the trunk of her own car. It was time for a joy ride. The three drove to Ocean Beach in Herbst-Vinge’s car, where they hung out at the Ocean Beach pier. Good times.

When the thugs stopped to gas up the car, with Herbst-Vinge’s gas card, she managed to chew through the duct tape and scream for help. Unfortunately, the only ones to hear her scream were the assholes that kidnapped her. The cries for help earned her a few punches in the face from Nelson and Osborne. When she asked for water, she was punched again. Over and over.

For over 26-hours Herbst-Vinge was tied up and at the mercy of her three captors. 26-hours bound and gagged in the trunk with no food or water. 26-hours of beatings and abuse. In a twist of fate, the trio was busted Tuesday evening after running a red light. When police pulled the them over, Herbst-Vinge was discovered in the trunk. Next to her was a shovel. Had the cops not pulled the assholes over when they did, who knows how this nightmare would have ended for her.

In court on Friday, all three pleaded not guilty to charges of torture, kidnapping, robbery, willful cruelty to an elder causing great bodily injury, and theft from an elder. Nelson also pleaded not guilty to charges of carjacking, kidnapping during a carjacking, attempted murder, assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury and burglary. More charges are possible. If convicted on the torture charges, they could be looking at life in prison. A hearing has been set for December 29 to determine if there is sufficient evidence for trial. They are all being held on $2 million bail, each. While Osborn and Nelson showed no emotion in the courtroom, Baker cried like the little bitch she is. She may not have thrown any of the punches, but she didn’t go out of her way to help the woman.

As of Friday, Herbst-Vinge was still hospitalized, it is uncertain when she will be released. Her face is swollen and bruised. Doctors believe she may have suffered a minor heart attack during the ordeal. Her family says that she is up and walking and in good spirits. My heart goes out to you Sandy…heal quickly. And as for the assholes that beat her, I hope that the boys in the big house show ‘em how it’s really done. Assholes.

Natalie “Sandy” Herbst-Vinge

Aaron Saunders and James Brogden

Highway Patrol were chasing a front-end loader Saturday morning, a front-end loader that had been stolen from Cherokee County Speedway. The person who stole the vehicle was Aaron Christopher Saunders, 28. Police tried stopping him by shooting out the tires, but Aaron was having none of it. Police say he intentionally tried to run over officers, even running over one of the patrol cars. Aaron drove the front-loader to 973 Pleasant School Road, tearing down trees and signs on the way there. Aaron began destroying a car at that residence when a man house-sitting for his son-in-law, James Ellie Brogden, 67, came out to investigate, Aaron killed him with the front-loader.

Deputies then shot Aaron, where he later died after being airlifted to the hospital. At first, his rampage remained a mystery, but now more details have come out as to why Aaron did what he did. He was drunk. And angry.

Seems as if he had a little tiff with his girlfriend, April Holcomb, because *gasp* he was drunk. He then went to a bar and sent her a text message stating that he was gonna be on the front page. But she didn’t take that seriously because, well shit, he did that all the time when he got drunk. In fact, she said, “He was drunk. He’s one of those people that doesn’t need to be drinking because he’ll black and out not know what’s going on.”

Two different reports state two different ways in which Brogden was killed. One states that Aaron beelined towards him when he came out to investigate and ran over him. Another states that Aaron dropped a car on top of him. But April doesn’t think it was on purpose. Oh, no…not Aaron. “He’s not a monster like they made him out to be,” she said. “I don’t think he intentionally did it. I think he didn’t see the guy because if you’re in a big old loader you cannot see because it’s dark outside and you got the car picked up”

But it really doesn’t matter if it was intentional or not, as either way this drunk asshole took out a man who has done nothing but try to improve the community around him. Brogden was a major in the Salvation Army where he had served for 40 years. He also worked at a rehabilitation center in Charlotte, NC.

“Cecil Brogden was one of the finest men I’ve probably ever met…He is a man of integrity — a great Christian man, a man of faith, a man of the Word. One of the finest preachers the Salvation Army has ever had.” Major Dalton Cunningham stated.

And what does he get for his efforts? Well, for some of you, he is playing ping-pong with God about right now. But to me? He met his end at the bottom of the treads of a goddamn front-end loader, leaving behind a wife and three children. Just doesn’t seem right, does it? All that “mysterious ways” crap I guess.

No real reason for me posting this, as there will be no trial or anything like that. It just always burns me when good people get taken out in completely stupid ways by equally stupid people. In Brogden’s wildest dreams, I cannot imagine that he ever thought his death would be in the form of a 10-ton front-end loader driven by a drunk, at 3 in the morning, in front of his son-in-law’s house. Tragic. So for all you praying people, tell God I said thanks for taking another good one, and for blessing some police officers with good aim.

Casey Till

Haines City, FL - I am getting old or something, because I totally missed this story. Try to keep up, readers, as I dissect what happened when 26-year-old Casey Till ran into a family at an intersection late Sunday night in Haines City. Mario Despaigne and his wife Odalis Cespedes, both 41, where driving a black Nissan with their 6-month-old granddaughter. Following behind them in a silver Toyota were the little girl’s parents, Angel Gonzales, 21 and Ivon Despaigne, 19. While both cars were stopped at an intersection, Angel and Ivon were rear-ended by a green minivan driven by Till. From here, things get REAL fucked up.

When Angel got out of the car to investigate the damage, he quickly returned with a slash to his throat. Ivon was then confronted by Till, who stabbed her in the throat. The couple retreated on foot, and Till got into their Nissan. By this time, Mario had gotten out of their vehicle to assist as Till began slamming the Nissan into Mario and Odalis’ vehicle. Odalis got out of the car and unbuckled the baby from her car seat, and began running. Till then hit Odalis with the Nissan, possibly breaking her leg. Mario ran to his wife and grabbed the baby as Till ran over Odalis again, killing her.

He then got out of the Nisssan and began chasing the remaining family members. Angel Gonzales managed to get in the green minivan and chase after Till, knocking him down. He tried to back over him, but Till rolled away and ran into some nearby woods. It was at this time a police officer on his way to work found the family and began assisting them. Till then emerged from the woods, ignoring the officers drawn gun and got into his minivan. As the officer was instructing Till to exit the vehicle at gunpoint, Till sped away, hitting the patrol car in the process.

Till was tracked down because of a prescription pill bottle left at the scene. Turns out he had been smoking crack before the altercation. He told his wife that he had screwed up and would be in prison for life. He also called his mother and told her he had “sliced some people up.” Police found Till in a locked bathroom with slit wrists. The non-lethal kind of slit wrists, of course.

Mario and the 6-month-old were not injured, but Angel and Ivon were treated at the hospital for stab wounds. Odalis died at the scene. As I write this, no reports on why Till attacked the family has been given, aside from the crack, but he was arrested at his home and has been charged with first-degree murder, two counts of attempted first-degree murder, carjacking and and aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer.
