KaronNEWARK, DE – Two boys, ages 13 and 14, have been arrested in connection to videotaped attacks on a mentally challenged man.

The videos were posted online and showed 26-year-old Karon being beaten by several teenagers while other teenagers stood around and watched. The teens can be seen repeatedly punching Karon in the face and body slamming him.

Karon’s mother says he suffers from Williams Syndrome and has the mental capacity of a second grader. “He doesn’t do anything to anyone but be kind,” she said.

The cool thing about this story, aside from the teens getting busted, is how they got busted. A 16-year-old girl saw the videos and wanted to do something about it.

Angeliz Marrero re-posted the attacks Saturday using #TheBullyProject. Within 24 hours, she had 18,000 new Instagram followers. “It spread so fast and I’m just so grateful for everybody that’s helping me out because if it weren’t for everybody helping, supporting and everything, this wouldn’t even go viral and that man really deserves justice,” said Angeliz.…

Rebecca SedwickORLANDO, FL – The family of Rebecca Sedwick, the 12-year-old girl who jumped to her death last year, has filed a lawsuit against one one of the girl’s alleged bullies, the School Board of Polk County, Cemex Construction Materials of Florida.

“I feel like I need to have some definitive answers and get some form of justice for Becca in order to start the whole healing process,” said Tricia Norman, Rebecca’s mother.

According to Norman’s attorney, David Henry, Rebecca’s family is seeking at least $15,000 from each of the defendants in order to “hold those accountable to account.”

For those of you who may have missed this story when it happened last year, Rebecca killed herself by jumping from a tower at an abandoned cement plant. There were reportedly various factors for her doing this, including ongoing harassment from two of her classmates, 14-year-old Guadalupe Shaw and 13-year-old Katelyn Roman.

After Rebecca started dating Guadalupe’s ex-boyfriend, she became the target of repeated physical and online attacks. Aside from the standard-issue name calling, she was also encouraged to kill herself.…

Matthew BurdetteSAN DIEGO, CA – The parents of a teenager who committed suicide last year say he took his own life after another student filmed him masturbating in a school bathroom then posted the video online.

Matthew Burdette killed himself on November 29. His family had noticed the once happy, popular teen had become withdrawn in the days leading up to his suicide, but say they never saw it coming.

Matthew left a note that stated he had no friends and that he could no longer handle school. Wanting answers, his family started asking questions – starting with school officials at University City High School.

They say school officials wouldn’t tell them anything about what may have happened at the school to have caused Matthew to suddenly hate school so bad that it would be part of his reasoning for ending his own life.

However, other students didn’t have such issues. They told Matthew’s family that their son was being relentlessly bullied over a video that was posted online that went viral.…

No BullyPLEASANT PRAIRIE, WI – Parents of a six-year-old girl have filed a restraining order against one of her five-year-old classmates after the boy allegedly told the girl he wanted to slit her throat and watch her bleed.

According to the girl’s father, Brian Metzger, that threat was just one of the many things the boy has reportedly done to bully his daughter while in school at Prairie Lane Elementary School.

“The whole year she’s been dealing with it. There have been other students in the classroom who have been dealing with the same individual,” Metzger said.

Metzger says his daughter has been kicked in the face, and had sand and rocks thrown at her on the playground. Metzger went to the school requesting the boy be removed from the classroom. When nothing changed and the bullying continued, Metzger took matters into his own hands.

He ended up filing a police report as well as filing a temporary restraining order against the five-year-old boy. Only then did the school remove the boy from the class.…

Lauren BuschMaryland – Police say two Maryland teenagers recorded themselves physically assaulting an autistic classmate and forcing him to perform sex acts, some with animals.

St. Mary County Sheriff’s Department said 17-year-old Lauren Bush and an unidentified 15-year-old girl admitted they assaulted the 16-year-old autistic boy with a knife on multiple occasions between December and February.

Sheriff Tim Cameron said all three teens attend Chopticon High School and that the girls preyed on the boy. They allegedly assaulted him with a knife, kicked him in the groin, dragged him by the hair, coerced him to engage in a sex act with an animal, and forced him to walk on a partially frozen pond where he fell through the ice.

The latter act being a possibly deadly one according to Sgt. Cara Grumbels. “You’re dealing with somebody who doesn’t have the mental capacity of you and I,” she said. “Somebody like that could go into a kiddie pool and may not be able to get themselves out. That’s what’s really kind of disturbing to us, among the other allegations in this case.…

Jenna MontgomeryPORTLAND, OR – Four teens are looking at some serious charges after being accused of kidnapping and torturing one of their classmates.

Police say during a snowstorm on February 10, Jenna Montgomery, 15, lured 16-year-old Dustin Murrain into a shed behind a house. Murrain told police he had met Montgomery earlier that day at David Douglas High School, where they both attended school.

According to Murrain’s account, once he walked into the shed he encountered three teen boys and realized he had fallen for one of the oldest tricks in the book.

First he was struck in the head with a crowbar before being ordered to take off his shirt. Then 15-year-old Blue Kalmbach allegedly shot Murrain in the chest, groin and index finger with a BB gun. Kalmbach then carved a swastika into Murrain’s forehead with a box-cutter and forced Murrain to eat cat shit.

After having his iPod stolen, Murrain escaped the shed and fled to a nearby auto service shop for help. Police were called and Murrain was taken to OHSU Hospital for treatment.…

Michael MoronesRaleigh, NC – An 11-year-old boy hanged himself the other day because, according to his parents, he was incessantly bullied at school over his love of the cartoon My Little Pony.

According to Michael Morones’ parents, the boy decided to put a stop to the bullying by hanging himself off the side of his bunk bed. He was found before he killed himself, but not before he deprived his brain of oxygen and caused potentially life-long brain damage.

“We won’t know for months how much is going to heal,” said his mother, Tiffany. “It could even be years before we find out what potential for healing he has.”

Surprisingly, she is not trying to have her son’s alleged bullies found and punished. “I’ve heard a lot of people say you need to go after bullies and hold them responsible,” said Tiffany. “But you know, I don’t think that’s what Mike would want. I would rather teach people how to do right than turn around than punish, because punishment doesn’t always work.”

Morones is currently in critical condition at children’s hospital WakeMed where he is scheduled to have a tracheotomy today.…

Michael TigueFlossmoor, IL – A 15-year-old boy has been charged with stabbing his older brother to death because of his alleged bullying.

Police were at the family’s home just before 1 a.m. Friday on a domestic violence call. Inside the home they found 25-year-old Steven Tigue (pictured) suffering from multiple stab wounds inflicted by his brother, 15-year-old Michael Tigue.

The boy’s mother told police she woke up to the two brothers fighting and broke up the fight. She then told Michael to call 911 for his brother. Steven Tigue was taken to the hospital where he would die a short time later.

Police questioned Michael who would admit that he’d planned the attack on his brother because of past bullying. He reportedly waited for his brother in a bedroom and began beating him with a golf club when he got home. When his older brother was able to take the golf club away from him, Michael pulled out a steak knife and repeatedly stabbed his brother in the chest.

Michael Tigue was arrested and charged as an adult with first degree murder and ordered held on $2 million bond.…

Levi NullMelcher-Dallas, IA – Before I get started with this bullying article, let me say that I think the word “bullying” is used way too much lately, often used in any situation where someone is mean to another – regardless of any signs of continued harassment or if the perceived victim is 8-years-old or 38. I feel this effectively waters the word down, and is an insult to all of the kids who suffer through true bullying every day of their lives.

Honestly, a lot of times I hear the word “bullying” used and can’t help but imagine Donald Sutherland in Invasion of the Body Snatchers, pointing at someone with his mouth agape, but screaming “Buuuuuuulllllly!!!” in an attempt to direct the anonymous, online horde of professional pitchfork and torch holders to a new target. It’s why I stay away from a lot of bully bandwagon stories that ultimately lead to nothing but online lynch mobs and ridiculous laws being passed to satisfy outraged parents holding voter registration cards.

All that being said, WhoTV reported on 13-year-old Levi Null, a boy in Iowa who has been the target of bullying at Melcher-Dallas High School.…

Aolani DunbarCARROLL COUNTY, GA – An 8-year-old girl with hair extensions had to be taken to the emergency room after bullies at her school pulled her hair so hard that they ripped her scalp.

Aolani Dunbar’s family said she wanted to brush her hair like other girls at school so she got hair extensions. When she showed up to school, other kids picked on her for two weeks and took turns trying to pull out the extensions. They pulled her hair so hard that they eventually ripped Aolani’s scalp.

“They kept pulling it and pulling it, especially on the playground,” said Aolani. “Everybody got a chance, and I was in the gazebo sitting there crying because I have no friends to play with that will protect me.”

Her grandmother discovered the injury after she returned home from school one day. “When I saw just the horror of it, I just started to cry,” said Dorris Bearden. “I cried as I un-braided her hair and the hair fell out in my hands.”

She was taken to the hospital to have her scalp repaired, where she had to have her hair shaved to avoid infection.…

girl bullySTAMFORD, CT – Police in Connecticut have arrested a 12-year-old girl after they say she was relentlessly bullying another student at a private middle school in Stamford.

The parents of a 13-year-old girl went to police after their daughter told them she was being bullied at school by the 12-year-old, who constantly taunted and harassed her. Even after making the complaint to police, the bullying continued and even intensified.

The bullying got so bad that the victim spoke about killing herself, prompting school administrators to work with police and investigate the bullying claims. This lead to police arresting the bully and charging her with disorderly conduct.

“This behavior will not be tolerated,” Stamford Police Capt. Richard Conklin said. “If it is brought to our attention, we will vigorously investigate the allegations and make arrests when appropriate. We investigate all claims of bullying, and this type of behavior will not be condoned in a learning environment.”

Some residents think that arresting the girl, who was later released to her parents, is a bit drastic.…

Joel MoralesNew York, NY – The family of Joel Morales, the 12-year-old boy who hanged himself last year over constant bullying, are now suing the boys that allegedly bullied him.

Morales’ mother, Lisbeth Babilonia, has filed suit against the city of New York, the Board of Education and the boys she says bullied her son to death – named in the suit as Kenneth, Stephen, Omar and Elijah ‘Doe’, along with the boys’ parents

According to the suit, Joel’s small size and fragile nature made him a perfect target for school bullies. “Joel was a small-framed fragile boy who sometimes stuttered and had problems with fine motor skills. He was extremely short and underweight for his age,” the suit says.

His family says they complained to the Department of Education multiple times a week to have something done about the constant harassment Joel was experiencing at Public School 102.

“He told me about it many times,” Babilonia said. “I went to school and spoke with the teacher, spoke with the assistant principal, with the principal.…

Cynthia AmbroseLaredo, TX – The elementary school teacher found guilty of instructing her kindergarten class line up and slap a kid because of his alleged bullying has been sentenced to 30 days in jail.

Cynthia Ambrose was found guilty of official oppression in June after an incident that was reported by another teacher.

Last May, Barbara Ramirez, a teacher at Salinas Elementary, witnessed 6-year-old Aiden Neely hit another student. Ramirez asked fellow teacher Ambrose how she should handle it, and Ambrose came up with a terrible idea.

Her idea consisted of having the boy sit in her classroom and then instructing her 24 kindergartners to file past him and give him a nice slap.

“He was hit on the head, in the face, on the back. And all the kids hit him twice,” said Aiden’s mother. “He had friends in that class, and friends didn’t want to hit him, but the teacher instructed them to hit him.”

What initially started off as light pats, ended at Ambrose’s insistence. “It started out as a pat,” Ramirez said.…

Daniel PerryScotland – A teenager in Scotland committed suicide after becoming the victim of an alleged Internet blackmail scam.

Daniel Perry, 17, had been interacting with a girl via Skype that he believed was his same age and from the US. “It was a female that he was talking to, she was supposed to be from Illinois,” Perry’s mother said. “I believe they were talking for a few months and he believed he was talking to this American girl.”

The interactions Perry had with this supposed female were recorded, and an unknown person or persons threatened to show the footage to his friends and family. When Perry asked his blackmailers what he could do to stop them from showing the footage to his family, he was instructed to pay funds into a named bank account.

He was warned that if he did not pay the money, he would be “better off dead.” Perry replied, “bye” then less than an hour later, jumped to his death from the Forth Road Bridge.

“He wasn’t doing anything wrong, just what anyone his age might do, but this scam is all about exploiting young people,” said Perry’s mother. …

Cynthia AmbroseLaredo, TX – Last year we reported on a kindergarten teacher who allegedly instructed an entire classroom of students to line up and slap a kid because of his alleged bullying. On Thursday that teacher was found guilty of official oppression.

Last May, 6-year-old Aiden Neely had been acting up in line while at Salinas Elementary and hit another student. His teacher, Barbara Ramirez, asked another teacher, 44-year-old Cynthia Ambrose, what she should do to curtail his bullying. Ambrose came up with the genius idea of having the boy sit in her classroom before instructing 24 other kindergartners to file past him and give him a nice slap.

“He was hit on the head, in the face, on the back. And all the kids hit him twice,” said Aiden’s mother. “He had friends in that class, and friends didn’t want to hit him, but the teacher instructed them to hit him.”

Ramirez said that the first hits were just pats, but quickly escalated at Ambrose’s insistence. “It started out as a pat,” Ramirez said.…

Gabrielle MolinaQueens, NY – Last week, 12-year-old Gabrielle Molina was found hanging in her room, dead from an apparent suicide. Now police have confirmed what others had been saying since the news broke – she killed herself because she was being bullied.

Molina’s body was discovered by her 15-year-old sister in their bedroom at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. As is usually the case when young people kill themselves, accusations of bullying were immediate. Friends and family say that Molina was the target of bullying both online and in person.

Her father George told the New York Post that his daughter was called a slut, whore and told she looked like she suffered from Down syndrome. There was even a video posted on Youtube called “Gabby’s Fight” that showed Molina in a fight with a former friend. Molina’s father said that these events, plus a recent breakup, pushed her over the edge.

“I was trying to comfort her because she was getting weak,” said her father. “I wanted to make her happy.” Her older sister said that while her parents knew of the bullying, even going to the school to complain about it, they did not know the full extent.…

jose cansecoLas Vegas, NV – Jose Canseco, a former MLB player and convicted wife beater, is a suspect in a reported sexual assault. While no charges have been filed, Canseco took to his Twitter on Wednesday to inform his followers of the situation while also tweeting his accuser’s name, picture and telephone number.

It started with four posts he made on Twitter yesterday, starting with one at 1:15 that read: “Breaking news this is a first folks las vegas police were just at my house i have been charged with rape by a [removed] from las vegas”

Two more tweets follow in which he welcomes the media to this “drama filled event” and says he’s willing to take a polygraph test. The fourth read:”[name removed] told police that i drugged her and then raped her.hmmmmm.lets find out what really happened.”

Metro Sgt. John Sheahan confirmed part of Canseco’s announcement. “He’s being investigated for an alleged sexual assault, and that’s it,” Sheahan said. He also confirmed officers spoke with Canseco Wednesday morning and that Canseco agreed to an interview that has not taken place yet.…

Attifa BrownPhiladelphia, PA – Police arrested 26-year-old Attifa Brown inside her daughter’s school after she allegedly assaulted an 11-year-old girl she says has been bullying her daughter.

Brown says while she did go to A.B. Anderson Elementary School with her daughter to confront the other girl, she says she never touched her. “I don’t beat my own child, let alone somebody else’s,” said Brown.

“The problem here is that we have a 26-year-old mother who has no reason to approach an 11-year-old child, so her credibility as far as I’m concerned is shot,” said Lt. John Walker, Philadelphia Police.

Besides, they say there is video of the incident. According to the 11-year-old victim’s mother, it shows Brown “over my daughter for minutes, poking her in the face, pulling her hair and beating her,” said Bobby Webster.

Brown is facing a myriad of charges, including terroristic threats, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and defiant trespass. School officials are looking into how Brown was able to walk into the school without signing in or without being questioned.…
