Las Vegas, NV – Jose Canseco, a former MLB player and convicted wife beater, is a suspect in a reported sexual assault. While no charges have been filed, Canseco took to his Twitter on Wednesday to inform his followers of the situation while also tweeting his accuser’s name, picture and telephone number.
It started with four posts he made on Twitter yesterday, starting with one at 1:15 that read: “Breaking news this is a first folks las vegas police were just at my house i have been charged with rape by a [removed] from las vegas”
Two more tweets follow in which he welcomes the media to this “drama filled event” and says he’s willing to take a polygraph test. The fourth read:”[name removed] told police that i drugged her and then raped her.hmmmmm.lets find out what really happened.”
Metro Sgt. John Sheahan confirmed part of Canseco’s announcement. “He’s being investigated for an alleged sexual assault, and that’s it,” Sheahan said. He also confirmed officers spoke with Canseco Wednesday morning and that Canseco agreed to an interview that has not taken place yet.…Continue Reading
Philadelphia, PA – Police arrested 26-year-old Attifa Brown inside her daughter’s school after she allegedly assaulted an 11-year-old girl she says has been bullying her daughter.
Brown says while she did go to A.B. Anderson Elementary School with her daughter to confront the other girl, she says she never touched her. ”I don’t beat my own child, let alone somebody else’s,” said Brown.
“The problem here is that we have a 26-year-old mother who has no reason to approach an 11-year-old child, so her credibility as far as I’m concerned is shot,” said Lt. John Walker, Philadelphia Police.
Besides, they say there is video of the incident. According to the 11-year-old victim’s mother, it shows Brown “over my daughter for minutes, poking her in the face, pulling her hair and beating her,” said Bobby Webster.
Brown is facing a myriad of charges, including terroristic threats, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and defiant trespass. School officials are looking into how Brown was able to walk into the school without signing in or without being questioned.…Continue Reading
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – We just reported on the Florida father accused of slapping and spitting on his son’s alleged bully, now we have a father out of Colorado who has been accused of pepper spraying a group of teens who may have bullied his son.
Police say that on Sunday afternoon, the unidentified man pulled up next to four 13-year-old boys then sprayed them with pepper spray before driving away. Reportedly, this attack was in retaliation for the boys possibly physically assaulting his 8-year-old son.
Police said the man’s son claims he was assaulted by the kids in the apartment complex playground, and that they had tried to steal his skateboard. When he informed his father, the man jumped in his car and caught up with the boys a few blocks away and gave them the business.
Police have interviewed the father and plan on seeing if the teens can identify him from a photo lineup. The man has not been charged at this time, but authorities are considering he be charged with misdemeanor child abuse.…Continue Reading
MARION, ID – On Monday, 14-year-old Braylee Rice hanged herself with a necktie on the bleachers located behind McCulloch Junior High School.
School officials said around 9:00 am Monday morning, Rice snuck away from the gym during a break from ISTEP testing, then used a necktie she regularly wore to hang herself on the bleachers near the track.
Some reports state no one saw Rice commit suicide, but Jennifer Smith says her seventh grade son was walking around the track with other students and a teacher when they saw her jump from the bleachers.
“They heard a noise and looked over at the bleachers and she had jumped,” said Smith, who also said Braylee came to school Monday with a piece of paper taped over her mouth with a smiley face drawn on the tape.
Police are still investigating a motive, but as is usually the case whenever a teen kills themselves, allegations of school bullying immediately reared its ugly head. Police and school officials have said it is too early in the investigation to pinpoint bullying as a factor in Rice’s death.…Continue Reading
CASSELBERRY, FL — Allen Banyacksi is facing child abuse charges after he allegedly slapped one of his son’s bullies and spit in his face.
Banyacksi would not comment on the charges against him, but did go on camera to say that his son is being incessantly bullied at Helm Way West and that he feels helpless.
“I feel horrible that I can’t do more. That I can’t be at school every day to watch over him. To walk him through the hallways,” Banyacksi said. ”I have four kids and he’s my youngest. He’s my baby. And we’ve watched him get bullied since the 4th grade. And when does it stop?”
According to a police report, Banyacksi confronted the two kids who were bullying his son as they walked home from school last Thursday. The boys told police Banyacksi pulled up along side them in his car and threatened to kill them.
One of the boys responded to Banyacksi’s threats by giving him the middle finger. Banyacksi allegedly responded by spitting in the boy’s face. When the boy spit back, Banyacksi gave him five across the eyes before getting back into his car and driving home.…Continue Reading
Santa Clara, CA – Police in California have arrested three 16-year-old boys, accusing them of sexually assaulting 15-year-old Audrie Pott at a party last year. Days later, Audrie would kill herself after photos of the attack began circulating online.
Audrie Pott was attending a house party at a friend’s house in September 2012 with about eight or ten high school students. Alcohol was being consumed and Audrie got so drunk she ended up unconscious in a bedroom. That’s where at least three male teens performed various sexual acts on her.
“Based on what we know, she was unconscious, there were multiple boys in the room with her,” attorney Robert Allard said. “They did unimaginable things to her while she was unconscious.”
During the assault, someone took photos of Audrie which were first spread via cell phones but ultimately ended up on Facebook. Shortly after the incident, Audrie wrote on her Facebook page: “The whole school knows…My life is ruined.” A week later, Audrie took her own life after learning that photos of the sexual assault were being distributed online.…Continue Reading
Rehtaeh Parsons’ Mother Pleading For Online Lynch Mob To Stop Harassing Boys Who Allegedly Raped Her DaughterApril 11, 2013 at 10:37 am by Morbid
Nova Scotia, Canada - The mother of 17-year-old Rehtaeh Parsons, the teenager who killed herself after allegedly being raped by four boys two years ago, is asking that online lynch mobs please leave the boys linked to the allegations alone, and let the justice system do its job.
Parsons’ mother says her daughter committed suicide after years of being bullied following an alleged rape by four boys when she was 15. A pictures from the incident was circulated online, leading to Parsons being harassed online by her peers.
No charges were ever filed against any of the boys involved, and Parsons mother would use Facebook to post her daughter’s story, blaming her daughter’s suicide on bullies, the justice system, and the four boys who allegedly raped her two years ago. By Wednesday night, an online petition calling for an inquiry into the police investigation had garnered more than 60,000 signatures.
Of course, as is usually the case when supposed injustices are posted online via social networking, people began talking about exacting revenge against the persons they feel are responsible for said injustice.…Continue Reading
COLUMBUS, GA – Devin Brown, 13, was found hanging in is closet after reportedly being bullied at school and being labeled a snitch.
Devin moved to Columbus six months ago to live with his dad, Ray Brown, and started school at Rothschild Middle School. His father says the bullying started in November.
“He got jumped, or somebody beat him up,” said Brown, Devin’s father. “He came home one time and had some peanut butter pies he had made for school. When he walked through the door he had some pie left, and he had it all over him. Someone had jumped on him and smeared it all over him.”
Things escalated last week after Devin saw a girl at school with a butcher knife threatening to stab a teacher. Devin told his teacher and the girl was taken into custody. Afterwards, he was labeled as a snitch and told his father that 15-20 people wanted to jump on him.
On the night he told his father about this, his stepmother realized Devin wasn’t in his bed and began looking for him while on the phone with his older sister.…Continue Reading
DENVER, CO – Video captured a 14-year-old girl defending herself against another 14-year-old girl who brutally assaulted her in a Henry World School classroom.
The incident happened last Friday when the victim, who didn’t even have time to take off her backpack, was assaulted by another girl inside the middle school classroom. “I turned around because I didn’t want to fight her and she grabbed my hair,” the unidentified victim said.
The other student pulled the victim to the ground and began punching her repeatedly in the face and body. The victim says the other girl has been bullying her for a month – stalking her in the school halls, pushing her and trying to get her to fight. She says never fought back and told teachers about the situation and that she didn’t feel safe.
The victim’s mother said the school never called her to inform her of the incident, only finding out her daughter had been attacked after another parent informed her.”My daughter is the one who was severely hurt, was sitting alone in a nurse’s office and I still wasn’t called,” she said.…Continue Reading
Oswego, NY - Here’s another story involving a mother enticing her daughter to fight her alleged bully. This time it’s out of New York, where 40-year-old Amie Loughrey was captured on camera egging on a fight between her 15-year-old daughter and another girl.
Police got involved after the video was posted on someone’s Facebook. In the video, you can see Loughrey encouraging her daughter to fight another girl who had supposedly been harassing her. The victim consistently says she does not want to fight, but Loughrey’s daughter throws the first punch at the insistence of her loud-mouthed mother, just like another mom we featured today.
Throughout the fight, in which Loughrey’s daughter definitely gets the upper-hand, Loughrey can be heard yelling choice bits like “beat her fucking ass” and calling the victim a stupid bitch. After Loughrey’s daughter delivers a sound beating on the other girl, who suffered a flurry of punches, a kick to the face, and being spat on, the girl walks away as Loughrey shouts after her not to come back because “this is her block.”
Amie Loughrey was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree harassment.…Continue Reading
CLIFTON HEIGHTS, PA – Police arrested 45-year-old Michele Davenport after they say she enticed her 12-year-old daughter to fight another 12-year-old girl in a school parking lot, an incident that was caught on video.
No reports on how police originally got involved, but they released video taken at Primos Elementary School that showed Davenport encouraging her 12-year-old daughter to fight another girl they allege is her daughter’s bully.
The girls do not seem eager to fight, but after Davenport’s insistent yelling – including Davenport telling the other girl she wants to see her daughter kick her ass and informing her she would jump in if any bystanders intervened – the girls finally start swinging in that funny way girls do when they fight.
As the girls are going at it, Davenport can be heard telling her daughter to “hit her in the face!” and ”get her on the ground!” At one point they stop fighting and the victim offers a handshake to Davenport’s daughter, but Davenport eggs them on and the girls continue fighting.
“You can see [in the video] that the kids really don’t want to fight, but the mother is so adamant and profane that eventually the 12-year-olds get in a fight,” Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood said in a news conference.…Continue Reading
FRUITA, CO - A mother in Colorado wasn’t happy with the way the school was handling the 15-year-old girl that beat her daughter in a school cafeteria, so she filed a restraining order against her.
Carrie Thrall said her daughter, Lexi, is a freshman at Fruita 8-9 School and became the victim of extreme bullying after she gave an anonymous statement to the school’s principal regarding a girl and boy she witnessed snorting drugs in a school bathroom.
The girl allegedly doing drugs in the bathroom found out Lexi was the one who reported her and began threatening her. Lexi and her mother notified school staff about the threats but, according to Thrall, nothing was done until after her daughter was beaten up in the school cafeteria.
A portion of the video was recorded and posted to Youtube, and in it you can see as the 15-year-old girl attack Lexi before Lexi’s younger sibling jumps in to help. Lexi was taken to the emergency room suffering a concussion, swollen face and back injuries.
The teen attacker was suspended (as was Lexi’s younger sister), but Thrall says suspending the attacker isn’t enough.…Continue Reading
Delco, PA - Last month we reported on Bailey O’Neil, the sixth-grader who was placed in a medically induced coma after being beaten by two classmates at school. On Sunday, Bailey died – one day after his 12th birthday.
Back in January, Bailey was attacked by two classmates during recess at Darby Township School and suffered a concussion and a broken nose. Over the next two weeks, he began to have mood swings and would not eat. He was rushed to the hospital after he began vomiting and suffering seizures.
Doctors placed Bailey in a medically-induced coma in an attempt to stop the seizures, but his condition never improved and were complicated after he got pneumonia and had to have a blood transfusion. On Sunday, the day after Bailey turned 12, he passed away.
The following message was posted on the Building Hope for Bailey Facebook Page:
“I would like to thank everyone who has prayed and supported Bailey and his family!! Bailey has been the strongest toughest boy I know. He has fought this battle long and hard.…Continue Reading
There isn’t a lot on this one since it’s an ongoing investigation with all parties being minors.
Bailey was reportedly in a schoolyard fight last month that resulted in a broken nose and a concussion. The boy was taken to the hospital by his parents and was given the all-clear and sent home. Once home, however, he didn’t want to eat, had mood swings and started having violent seizures.
Doctors at A.I. duPont Hospital for Children were forced to put the boy into a medically induced coma more than three weeks ago.
“Every day I’m trying to stay strong for him, but when you get into that hospital room and you’re looking at him, I would trade places in a heartbeat. It’s my buddy, you know,” said Rob O’Neill, the boy’s father.
According to the boy’s father, Bailey got in a fight with two bullies, but only one of them was suspended.…Continue Reading
Portland, OR – A 15-year-old boy is still clinging to life after hanging himself from some playground equipment at Central Elementary School.
Last Saturday, Jadin Bell was found by a passerby after the teen had climbed on top of a play structure and hanged himself. The person who found Bell tried rescuing the teen who was taken to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital where he remains on life support.
Reports are that Bell is an openly gay student at LHS where he is also a cheerleader. Even though he has a supportive family and large network of friends, Bell has been the target of bullying, reportedly in person and online.
School administrators confirmed that Bell had recently spoken with a school counselor and that they were investigating “a name calling incident.” In light of Bell’s attempted suicide, they’e also concerned about the other teen who was involved. Friends say that Bell had complained about bullying before, but that they have a hard time believing that this is what lead to Bell trying to take his own life.…Continue Reading
HUDSON, FL -- Pasco County authorities say 16-year-old Jessica Laney hanged herself Sunday night, and some of her friends say cyber-bullying is to blame.
According to one of her friends, Laney attended Fivay High School after being transferred there due to bullying at her previous high school. But they say the bullying that led to Laney killing herself did not come from her new school, but rather from anonymous people online. In particular, members of the website Ask.fm.
For the un-initiated, Ask.fm is a social site where users can invite questions and comments from other members, anonymously. Laney’s page is full of the standard crap you would expect on a cute 16-year-old girl’s page, but also contains some disparaging comments from anonymous users calling her fat and a loser. Some even tell teh girl no one cares about her and instruct Laney to hurry up and kill herself.
Her friends say these negative comments are what led the girl to hang herself Sunday night, although official from the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office says neither Laney’s parents nor Laney’s boyfriend were aware of Laney being bullied.…Continue Reading
TAYLORSVILLE, Utah – A 14-year-old boy in Utah died yesterday after he pulled out a gun and shot himself in the head in front of his classmates.
David Phan was a ninth-grader at Bennion Junior High where he was reportedly enduring bullying. His friends say he was nice to everyone but that it didn’t stop other students from constantly picking on him. After a meeting in the principal’s office yesterday, he left the school with his mother at around 1:30 pm. The school has not released what the meeting was about, but reports are that he was searched for weapons before being allowed to leave.
A couple hours later he returned to a pedestrian bridge near the school and encountered other students he knew who had just gotten out of school. There was a short conversation before David pulled out a handgun he had retrieved from a locked safe at his home, and then shot himself in the head. He was still alive when emergency personnel arrived, but he would die a short while later in the hospital.…Continue Reading
William Bailey, 43, was charged after cell phone video made its way online that showed him and his 9-year-old son making fun of Hope Holcomb, a 10-year-old neighbor girl with cerebral palsy. The two families live next to each other and up until recently, their kids all got along and played together.
Hope’s mother said the trouble started with Bailey’s younger son bullying her daughter on the school bus. “She was miserable she didn’t want to ride the bus, cried every morning,” said Tricia Knight. ”He treats her like crap, and most recently the dad got involved.”
It was after the family called police regarding Bailey’s son and some damaged Halloween decorations in their yard that Hope’s grandmother decided to record any possible retaliation the following day at the bus stop. What she captured was William Bailey and his son walking away from the school bus with exaggerated limps.…Continue Reading
Baltimore, MD – A cell phone video was recently published on Youtube that showed a high school teacher being bullied by her students.
The video was taken inside a classroom at Digital Harbor High, a magnet school in Federal Hill. It shows a substitute teacher sitting behind her desk as she dodges objects being thrown at her while another student flicks her head and face. You can hear the teacher tell them to stop, threatening suspension, only to be met with laughter from other students as she is called a bitch and told to shut up.
“Respect for adults. Somewhere there’s just, no civility. They don’t even respect the adults in the classroom who are trying to deliver a lesson and this is the battle we fight,” said Marietta English, the head of the teachers union in Baltimore city. She has seen the video and says this type of behavior happens more often than most people think.
She recommends teachers report this kind of activity to school police, administration, and the teachers union. The teacher in this video did not file a complaint with the police or the teacher’s union, opting to let the school administration handle it.…Continue Reading
STATEN ISLAND, NY – I’m just getting back from vacation and behind on the news, so I’m just going to post some stories I found interesting, starting with the 15-year-old high school freshman who jumped in front of a train last week because she was tired of being bullied by members of her high school’s football team.
Felicia Garcia, a 15-year-old student at Tottenville High School, was being picked on because of rumors that she slept with multiple members of the football team at a party held after a game. After school administrators heard about the rumors, they met with Garcia and the 17-year-old boy who was singled out as the main instigator.
Reports are that the meeting ended with Garcia running out while shouting at the boy. Her friends say that Garcia normally didn’t let the bullying bother her. She’d already had a tough life with her parents dying when she was young and being bounced between foster homes after running away from her aunt’s home to be with an older man.…Continue Reading
