Calva Haskell, 15, Accused Of Stabbing And Torching Ex-Girlfriend, 14

Clermont, FL – Writing a story about some asshole setting his current/ex girlfriend on fire is nothing new – sadly enough, it happens more than one might think it would. What is shocking about this particular story is not only the violence of the act, but the ages of the parties involved – just 14 and 15-years-old. Calva Haskell, 15, is accused of stabbing 14-year-old Taylor Mack several times before squirting some kind of flammable liquid on her and setting her on fire. At about 5:30 Wednesday morning, Taylor snuck out of her house to meet and talk with Calva, who is believed to be her ex-boyfriend. The topic of the conversation is unknown, but, shortly after the two met, Taylor was running to a neighbor’s home screaming for help. After the attack, Calva returned home, where he was later arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder. Calva has no previous criminal history, is said to be a popular kid, and is active in school and sports. What the fuck happened in this kid’s brain to set him off like that?…

Athens, GA – Back in September of 2001, Phillip Scruggs got all pissed off and stabby with his girlfriend, Elisa Davenport. He kidnapped her, stabbed her a few times, and left her for dead. Elisa had luck on her side and managed to survive the attack. Scruggs was arrested, charged with kidnapping, kidnapping with bodily injury, aggravated assault, and violating the state Family Violence Act. As part of a plea agreement, he pleaded guilty to kidnapping, false imprisonment and battery. Scruggs received a slap on the wrist for the violent assault and was sentenced to three years in prison and seven years of probation. While he did his time, Elisa recovered and got on with her life. And, according to her family, she was doing very well without the stabby bastard. I guess the stabbing wasn’t enough to derail the relationship – the couple picked up where they left off when Scruggs was released from prison in 2004. Toronto, Canada- On the night of July 31, 56-year old Helen Soady was drinking with her step-son, Shannon Soady, 36, and a 40-year old man who had been staying with her in recent weeks named, James Thorpe. The trio ended up getting in an argument over money which turned physical and Soady ended up getting hit in the head with “several objects”. The men then tried to cut Soady’s head off and attempted to set the apartment on fire before they fled. The ass in this story is Cory Vaughn. Wednesday evening, Cory allegedly got a little rough with his girlfriend’s puppy. When his girlfriend stepped up to protect her critter, Cory turned his anger on her. The girlfriend told authorities that Cory slapped her, pushed her down, and tried to choke her. Cory eventually fled the apartment, and the girlfriend, knowing that Cory had a key to her home and may return to finish the job, left to spend the night with a friend. A short time later, a neighbor called to inform her that her apartment was on fire. Tulsa, OK – Just like the old saying, “play with fire and you’re bound to get burned,” 33-year old Nicole Partridge learned a horrific lesson on just how bad being involved with meth can be. Around 2 p.m. this last Friday, police received a 911 call from Partridge after a domestic dispute with her 23-year old boyfriend, Kenneth McCurley. They found Partridge outside a residence critically burned, from the neck down. Partridge told firefighters who responded to the scene that after dousing her with gasoline, McCurley threw a cigarette on her to ignite a fire. Police initially believed McCurley had barricaded himself inside the home after Patridge told them that McCurley was inside cooking meth, but they did not find him.…

Schenectady, NY- From the very beginning the police suspected arson. Around 4:30 a.m. on June 13, firefighters responded to call of a burning apartment building. The brave firefighters risked their lives as they fought through the smoke and the flames inside the burning structure searching for helpless victims. It was on the second floor in a bedroom where they found 10-year old Avion Bell lying on the floor. Once outside, the firefighters had to resuscitate Avion twice before she was taken to the hospital. From there she was flown to Westchester Medical Center to be treated for smoke inhalation and listed in critical condition. The three firefighters who rescued Avion were also injured. Out of the three, Capt. Douglas Faulisi, 38, suffered the worst and may be off the job for up to a year due to a seriously injured hand.…

Farwell, Mich - Justin Gaskill, 27, cut the screen window of a home in the town of Farwell, slipped inside and forced an 11-year-old, who at first thought it was a prank, out of her bed at knifepoint. He then made the girl walk with him almost two miles to his home where he sexually assaulted her. He then let the girl go the next morning, warning her not to tell anyone what had happened.
