SAN ANTONIO, TX – Here’s a weird one. The body of 26-year old Julie Mott was stolen from her casket following her funeral service at a San Antonio funeral home.
According to reports, Mott’s body was taken from Mission Parks Funeral Chapel North following her August 15 service that ended around 1:30 p.m.
“The next morning when they came back to the funeral home, they discovered that the casket Ms. Mott had been in for the service was actually empty,” said SAPD Sgt. Javier Salazar. “Her remains had been removed.”
The funeral home locks up around 4:30 p.m., and since an alarm at the facility had not been triggered overnight, police believe her body was taken after it had been moved to a private visitation area in the back of the funeral home.
Mott died on August 8th after a life-long battle with cystic fibrosis. The owners of the funeral home are close with her family and have known the deceased since she was born. They are offering a $20,000 reward to help catch the person responsible for this “shameless act.”
Salazar told reporters that a single person could be responsible fro the theft of Mott’s corpse, as the girl was petite.…
A cable installer arrived at the apartment of 34-year-old Eric Warfel’s at around 10 a.m. Wednesday and went inside. In one of the rooms he would find the badly decomposed body of a 24-month-old girl in a crib. The cable installer immediately called police.
“The gentleman that was here (Warfel) would never hook up with them. Finally he gave permission to come in today and he was gone last night, so actually the poor cable repairman was the one that discovered the child,” said Medina Police Chief Patrick Berarducci.
Warfel was arrested shortly after at Crocker Park in Westlake while he was with his 7-year-old daughter. Warfel remained jailed Thursday facing a felony charge of corpse abuse. A judge has set Warfel’s bond at $1 million and a police spokesperson said additional charges are expected. His daughter was placed with grandparents while investigators tried to find the mother of the deceased child.…
HAMPTON, VA – Police have arrested 44-year-old Tonya Slaton after the remains of her son, missing since 2004, were found in the trunk of her car.
Slaton was pulled over by a state trooper on the morning of June 6 for driving her Ford Mustang on expired tags. When the trooper asked Slaton about a large white spot on the floor behind the driver’s seat, Slaton explained it was from bleach.
The trooper asked Slaton if she had anything in the trunk of her car, she claimed she only had clothes in her trunk. When the trooper decided to look for himself, he reported the smell of rotted flesh as soon as the trunk was opened.
The source of the smell was the corpse of Slaton’s biological son, Quincy Jamar Davis, who has been missing since 2004. His body was in two plastic bags wrapped in duct tape. The boy has not been seen since 2004 when he was in seventh-grade at Virginia Beach Middle School.
Slaton never filed a missing person report, and it doesn’t seem as the kid had anyone who cared enough about him to notify authorities that he had simply disappeared.…
TULSA, OK – Police have arrested Shaynna Sims after they say the 26-year-old walked into a funeral home and sliced open the face of a dead woman who used to date her boyfriend.
According to reports, Sims walked into the Moore Funeral Home last Thursday where the body of a woman she knew was waiting to be interred.
Family members of the deceased woman reported seeing Sims with her hands inside the coffin, and that she quickly withdrew them when they got near.
Those family members notified authorities when they found the dead woman had been vandalized. Her hair had been cut, her makeup smudged and, worst of all, there was a vertical slice to the woman’s face that went from her hairline to the tip of her nose.
Police would locate Sims at the dead woman’s home where, according to the woman’s son, Sims showed up to retrieve jewelry to be used at the funeral. Police would find Sims in the possession of a folding knife with the dead woman’s hair on it, scissors, and a box cutter.…
David Vanzo took his 90-year-old mother, Caryl Vanzo, to the bank to take $850 out of her account for himself. Seven hours later he called police to report her death. When police arrived they were overwhelmed by the stench of urine and feces. Caryl Vanzo’s body was found in her bed, wearing a robe with a fur coat over it. She was also wearing boots that were covered in shit.
Bank employees reported that the visit to the bank by Vanzo and his mother was unsettling. Employees could not tell if the woman was breathing and noticed that when she was pushed in her wheelchair her feet dragged on the floor under her.
It was also noted that she did not make single move during the entire transaction. A neighbor who saw the pair leaving in the taxi also thinks there’s a good possibility the woman was dead before they left the house.…
Three People Arrested In Death Of 3-Year-Old Owen Collins, Whose Badly Burned Body Was Found In WoodsJanuary 22, 2015 at 6:58 pm by Morbid
BLUFFTON, IN – Breanna Arnold and Zachary Barnes have been accused of hiding Arnold’s 3-year-old son’s dead body in a drawer for a day before putting him in a cardboard box, dumping it in the woods and setting it on fire.
According to court documents, the couple and were “shooting dope” from Friday night into Saturday with a 16-year-old who lived with them. When Arnold went to check on 3-year-old Owen Collins and his 6-year-old brother, she came back out of the room with Owen’s body saying “my baby.”
Instead of calling for help, Barnes suggested that they get rid of Owen’s body. Barnes and the teen admitted to police that Owen was wrapped in plastic wrap and placed into a dresser drawer. That’s where Owen’s body remained until early the next morning.
After a discussion about “chopping him up and throwing him in the river,” Barnes and the teenager put Owen in a cardboard box and got a ride to a wooded area. That’s where they dropped the box with Owen’s body and Barnes doused it with nail polish remover before setting it on fire.…
Last Saturday, Ruffin went to the home of Michael Wilson, Jr. to pick up some scrap metal that Wilson wanted taken to the junk yard.
While loading his truck, Ruffin noticed Wilson had taken a black bag out of a garbage can and was trying to put it in a metal bucket.
Ruffin’s watched in horror as the bag ripped open and a man’s head spilled out along with two human hands.
“I’m like, man, what the hell you got going on, bro? He said something like he didn’t mean to kill him. I said, kill who brother? I don’t want to know who that is, I don’t want to know. You don’t got to tell me,” Ruffin said to Wilson.
Ruffin wasn’t taking part in any of of it. He was already on parole and wanted to make sure he wasn’t attached to whatever happened to the man with the missing head and hands.–so he went straight to the police to report what he’d seen.…
SUMMITVILLE, TN – Gregory Hale, a 37-year-old Devil worshiper, has been accused of murdering a woman and eating part of her corpse.
Police arrested Hale after receiving a tip that he was looking for help in disposing of a body. The victim has been identified as 36-year-old Lisa Hyder, who police say was killed by Hale on Friday – the same day the two first met.
Hale told investigators he and Hyder were at his parents’ home home talking when he murdered her. How and why he decided to kill Hyder is still unknown, but according to the affidavit, Hale admitted he killed Hyder, then decapitated her corpse, chopped off her hands and feet, and ate parts of her dead body.
Police found evidence that Hale tried burning some of Hyder’s remains in a burn pit on the property, while some remains were found in two plastic buckets. At some point he asked a neighbor to help him dispose of Hyder’s body, but opted to they called police instead.…
LAHORE, Pakistan – Pakistani police have arrested 2 brothers accused of cannibalizing a freshly buried 3-year-old toddler after the head of the child was found at their home.
Known cannibals, Farman Ali and Mohammad Arif, were taken into custody after neighbors complained of a deathly stench emitting from the pair’s residence. Police raided the house and found the remains of the child, including the head.
Arif admitted to chopping up the body, boiling the flesh into a curry, and then devouring the entree (I wonder what flavor of chutney they used). He blamed the grave robbing on his bro.
“Zafar Iqbal, a police official, said that the men’s wives and family members had left them some years ago and both were living in the house in isolation.”
Both Arif and Ali are no strangers to cannibal kitchen endeavors. Back in 2011, the brothers were arrested for robbing the grave of a 24-year-old woman who died of cancer. The body of the woman was found (with both legs mutilated) next to a giant pot of boiling meat curry.…
Redford Township, MI – Police have arrested 64-year-old Dennis McCauley after it was discovered that he had been living with the corpse of 72-year-old Ann Marquis since November.
Dennis McCauley had been living with Mrs. Marquis in her mobile home at Long’s Mobile Home Court just outside of Detroit for about three years. When her rent hadn’t been paid for 6 months, the manager came to her home to evict her. When he knocked on the door, Dennis McCauley answered, and was apparently pretty nonchalant considering there was a rotting corpse laid out on the pull out sofa within easy view of the front door.
McCauley let an officer into the trailer and “the officer noted a pungent smell of decay and observed a corpse in the room immediately to the right of the front door,” states Redford Township Sgt. Kevin Crittenden. “The corpse had obviously been deceased for some time and was partially dried out.” I can’t help but imagine a comically short conversation between the officer and McCauley. Is that a dead body on the couch? …
Alejandro Razo, a male nurse at Sherman Oaks Hospital, was taken into custody over the weekend after allegedly committing a sex act on a female corpse.
Officers responded to the hospital Sunday evening, where security guards had 61-year-old Razo in custody.
No details on what led hospital staff or security personnel to believe Razo had violated said corpse.
“The call indicated that a deceased patient had somehow been violated by an employee of the hospital,” said LAPD Lt. Andy Neiman.
“It’s a very sensitive case,” Neiman continued. “Because you’re dealing with somebody who is deceased, who’s a loved one of somebody, who really couldn’t even fight back, so it’s our job to fight back for them.”
Razo was arrested on a state health code violation, but was released on $20,000 bail while the investigation continues.
Interesting to note that necrophilia wasn’t even considered a crime in California until 2004.…
Puyallup, WA – A Washington state man faces more than 25 years in prison after being found guilty of murdering a female roommate and then concealing the crime. He was also found guilty of an additional charge related to his “kissing” the genitals of the victim before burying her in a shallow grave.
On September 12, 2011, the ex-wife of Kelly Merz, 51, walked into the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department precinct to report that Merz had just called her and confessed to killing 33-year-old Cori Lewis. An investigation followed.
According to a prosecutor’s press release, in August 2011, the victim, 33-year-old Cori Lewis began renting a bedroom in Merz’ two-bedroom apartment with a friend. After “tension among the roommates,” Lewis and her friend were given an eviction notice by Merz. This reportedly lead to an argument between Merz and Lewis that “turned violent.” In his interview, Merz reportedly told investigators that, during the altercation, he, “tried unsuccessfully to break her neck.” According to prosecutors, “intent on killing Cori, he pinned her to the floor, pulled a .380 handgun from his back pocket, placed the muzzle to her head and fired once,” killing her.…
Slidell, LA – Police have arrested two women after the body of man with no hands was found rotting in a 160-quart ice chest.
Police were sent to a home because 58-year-old Debra Fisher walked into the police station to come clean about the at-least-months-old, liquefying body of her father in a cooler at her apartment. This was mere hours after deputies had paid a wellness visit to check on the man after Fisher’s landlord and neighbors expressed concerns about the elderly man’s whereabouts.
When responding police spoke with Fisher and her roommate, 45-year-old Heidi Todd (pictured), they were told that the man was out gallivanting; at least that’s what I imagine she said. The deputies, with no reason to search for ice chests with decomposing bodies in them, left.
Now, if I weren’t so inconceivably dumb, I’d surmise that Fisher and Todd had a post-visit discussion and determined that it was only a matter of time before the police started getting significantly nosier about the whereabouts of the old man. …
Toledo, OH – Lawrence J. Clement, 57, has turned himself in to Toledo police after having been told that there was an active warrant for his arrest. This in response to allegations that he was discovered touching a corpse ‘in a sexual manner’ while working at a funeral home.
Police say Clement – of Temperance Michigan – had “sexual contact by means of touching the erogenous zone” of Brenda Shular-Cameron, 51. Shular-Cameron had died Sunday of multiple organ failure. Shular-Cameron’s family was reportedly told that another funeral home employee witnessed Clement “fondling” the woman’s corpse.
Clement, who had worked part time at H.H. Birkenkamp Funeral Home where the incident allegedly occurred, has since been fired by the company, a spokesman said Wednesday. The family of the victim reportedly said they were told Clement worked there for seven years and was a ‘greeter.’
“I’m enraged,” said Anne Lamprecht, the victim’s mother. “My daughter died a horrible death. She was a beautiful young woman. I cringe to even think of them touching her.”
The family had the woman’s body transferred to a different funeral home, but the future is not yet clear.…
Grand County, CO — A couple appeared in court Monday afternoon to answer to charges of evidence tampering, criminal trespass and abuse of a corpse after being accused of stealing items from a murder-suicide scene last month.
When Jerod Reeves and Kimberly McCaffrey stumbled across the frozen bodies of a man and his young son in the Colorado wilderness in December of last year, they did what any good citizen would do – they called authorities and informed them of the discovery. Ha! Just kidding! They robbed ’em and disappeared into the sunset, not even bothering to make one simple friggin’ phone call.
According to investigators, the pair had come across the bodies of 62-year-old William Ahrold and his 9-year-old-son Jackson in Grand County on December 17. (The father and son had last been seen on December 7, and were reported missing on December 13). Authorities found Ahrold’s van over the weekend and quickly came to the conclusion that Ahrold had killed his son before taking his own life. They soon realized that there was a rather important piece of evidence missing – the weapon.…
Brooklyn, NY – Back in July, Morbid reported on the case of the killing of 8-year-old Leiby Kletzky whose dismembered body were found, among other places, in 35-year-old Levi Aron’s freezer. The case has recently made news based on Aron’s lawyer’s claim that… well… everything is a mitigating factor.
The background of the story is this… Leiby Kletzky attended day camp. He normally took a bus home but wanted desperately to walk home instead. After listening to his begging, his parents agreed to allow him to walk part of the way home – a distance of 7-blocks. He would meet his mother for a doctor’s appointment. His parents were reported to have worked with him to memorize the route. They then also practiced the route together on a ‘dry run.’
On the day that Leiby was to walk home, he left the day camp wearing a striped shirt with his bag over his shoulder and a smaller bag on his waist. He initially followed the route as planned but, then, missed a turn on to a side street.…
Denver, CO — Two men have been arrested after loading a dead buddy into a car and galavanting about town on his dime.
When 43 year-old Robert Young (click the name…he’s pictured left and looking quite impressed with the size of the gentlemen to his right’s penis) came home around 11pm on August 27th, he discovered the man that he was living with had died. Young, having fallen on hard times, had been offered a place to stay while he got back on his feet. After discussing the situation with his friend, 25 year-old Mark Rubinson (pictured right, still dumbfounded by the sheer size of his penis), Young decided to not call anyone to report the death. Instead, the two took the corpse of 43 year-old Jeffrey Jarrett out for a night he would never forget had his brain still been on.
The pair first stopped at a bar and drank on Jarrett’s credit, leaving him (or what used to be him; I’m not sure how it works, really) in the car.…
Cheongju, SK – A 16-year-old boy in South Korea has been arrested for necrophilia after admitting to taking indecent liberties with the corpse of a woman who police suspected had just committed suicide.
Last Wednesday, security camera footage captured a 68-year-old woman carrying a plastic chair into the elevator. Police suspect from this that the woman was headed for the roof.
The 16-year-old reported to police that he found the dead woman’s body in the garden of her apartment complex early in the morning. Police investigating reportedly found ‘suspicious traces’ on her corpse. That, and some contradictory statements by the boy, lead to a formal interrogation of the boy.
Under questioning, the boy admitted to having sex with the woman’s corpse before contacting police. When asked why, the 16-year-old high-school student told police that he wanted to see “what would happen.”
What would happen?! That’s easy, bright boy. About 18 million people on the internet said “ewwww…” That’s what happened.…
