WINTER GARDEN, Florida – One lucky family, I think. 48-year-old Rubens Morais and 27-year-old Marcela Borges were home with their 5-year-old son on Sunday when four masked intruders took them hostage. They were all tied up and blindfolded and taken to Apopka. The next day, Borges was forced to withdraw $23,600 from the bank. They were then taken back to their home. Sometime Tuesday, Borges removed her bindings as well as the mask of one of her young, female captors. Not liking that, she reportedly stated “She saw my face and knows who I am. You have to kill her!” Borges, not liking that, jumped from a second-story window. As she ran to a neighbor’s house, one of the captors opened fire on her, hitting her in the side. All four captors then fled the scene. Victor Manuel Sanchez, 20, and Miguel Diaz-Santiz, 25, and Oscar Diaz-Hernandez, 19 have been arrested. The female suspect is still at large.

Muskegon — A male security guard busted two women stealing from a Wal-Mart on Halloween night. They were detained at the door after trying to get away with $45 in stolen merchandise that included curtains and makeup. The two women, Marilyn Cole, 35, and Rashieka L. Stewart, 23, were not going down without a fight, so they broke free and ran to their vehicle in the parking lot – the guard in pursuit. Stewart made it into the driver’s seat, but the guard was blocking the open passenger entry so that Stewart could not get in. The persistent Stewart then head-butted the guard, knocking him into the car. The 230 pound Stewart then sat on the guard as they drove away. The guard was able to get his phone and call 911, but not before Stewart pissed on him. If this act was on purpose or not has not been reported. They ended up across the street in another parking lot where they let the guard go, but would not get out themselves until forced to by police at gunpoint. Both ladies were charged with one count of unarmed robbery. Cole, on parole for a bank robbery, was charged as a second-time habitual offender.

Orange Park, Florida – On Monday afternoon, Somer Thompson, 7, was walking home from Grove Park Elementary with a group of kids that included her twin brother and 10-year-old sister. After getting into an argument with some of the group, she began running home. She has not been seen since. An Amber Alert has since been issued. Thompson is white, 3 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 65 pounds. She has brown hair that was in a pony tail and was wearing a cranberry colored jumpsuit with pink stripes and a black T-shirt underneath. Her backpack is black with pink and white skulls and crossbones. “This is an all-out search,” Sgt. Dan Mahla, of the Clay County Sheriff’s Department said at a news conference Tuesday afternoon. “We are going to keep trying and trying and trying. We have all these resources and we are maximizing them to the max. “She is an endangered missing child. We do suspect foul play.””

To make matters even worse, one week ago there was a failed abduction attempt in this area. A 5-year-old-girl was approached by a Hispanic woman driving a blue sedan with two Hispanic males. She told the little girl that her mother had instructed her to get in the car. The little girl refused and got upset, attracting the attention of a neighbor who intervened.

Here is a mini  time-line from what I have gleaned from the online reports:

Monday 2:45 p.m – Walking the mile walk home ahead of other kids
Monday 3:05 p.m – Siblings arrive home to find sister not there. Somer’s mother’s boyfriend begins walking the neighborhood
Monday 4:00 p.m. – Mother calls home to check on kids, immediately calls authorities
Tuesday 9 a.m. – Amber Alert
Tuesday All Day- 100 Clay County deputies, law enforcement officers from neighboring counties, the FBI and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement scoured a residential Orange Park neighborhood began scouring the area using helicopters, horses and dogs. 57 sex offenders have been interviewed within a 3-mile radius, and their homes and yards have been searched. The search was expanded Tuesday to a 5-mile radius, and officials say they will interview 30 more registered sex offenders.

Here is some heart-breaking video from showing Somer’s mother as she relays the last time she saw Somer – and laments on whether she told Somer she loved her or not.

Also, here is the walk they took. I took a Google Streets Stroll down that path and it is VERY residential with a lot of places for her to go off the path if she were mad at her sister. There is the possibility that she was never ahead of them for long, maybe even hiding and letting them get in front of her. She also had to walk past a ball park of some type where strangers to the neighborhood could go unnoticed.

Update
Like a lot of people had already been thinking, this missing person story will not end well. The body of a small child has been found in the Chesser Island Road Landfill in Flokstin, Ga. This particular landfill is the end of the route for trucks collecting trash in Somer’s hometown of Orange Park, FL. Police have not confirmed that the body is Somer’s, but what would be the odds of it being another child?

Update 10/22 – Clay County Sheriff Rick Beseler states that investigators have identified the body of Somer Thompson. An autopsy, scheduled to be performed today at the Medical Examiner’s office in Savannah, should help determine a cause of death.

ALBANY, Oregon – On September 19th, Vidal-Hernandez went to Samaritan Albany General Hospital and told the staff that her friend had given birth to triplets on the side of the road on was on her way there via Life Flight helicopter. Staff went to verify her story, and noticed that she had walked away. The staff began looking for her and located Trinity Vidal-Hernandez at the maternity ward nurses station. She was escorted her off of the floor and the Albany Police Department were contacted. She gave police a similar story and showed them a photo of a newborn infant she claimed that her friend had sent it to her. Albany Police Detectives are now saying that Trinity Vidal-Hernandez’s intent was to steal a baby.

She was arrested yesterday and charged with attempted kidnapping, initiating a false report, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief and has been placed in the Linn County Jail. How did detectives come to this conclusion? Well I am sure a lot of information still hasn’t been made public, but here is what is being reported.

Obviously, the friend having a baby story was fake. Vidal-Hernandez told family members she worked at the hospital as recently as August 2009. During this time, police said Vidal-Hernandez began to spend time at the hospital while wearing scrubs. Investigators say she has displayed similar behavior at other hospitals. In her defense, she states that a nurse over-reacted when the nurse overheard Hernandez talking about a friend’s kids. Also, she worked at a health clinic across the street from the hospital, and that’s why she was seen wearing scrubs.

Vidal-Hernandez is married with three kids of her own, and a neighbor had this interesting jab when reporters asked her about her neighbor. “I would have never guessed kidnapping a kid, especially an infant, when we often wonder how she deals with the ones she has that she doesn’t watch half the time,” Cindy Johnston said.

The investigation is ongoing; anyone with information regarding Trinity Vidal-Hernandez is asked to call Albany Police Detectives at 541-917-7686.

Regardless of what this woman was up to – attempting to snatch an infant or just being really strange – kudos to the staff of Samaritan Albany General Hospital for keeping an eye out and reacting quickly.

Austin, TX – He kidnapped the 9-year-old girl as she walked to her school bus stop the morning of September 24th. He threatened her with a knife and forced her into his truck, threatening to cut her if she didn’t stop screaming. When he got the child back to his apartment, he tied her hands with dish rags and stuffed her in a closet. He fed her toast with jelly and some ravioli. After holding the child for most of the day, registered sex offender Charles Butcher let the child go, relatively unharmed and untouched, after she told him, “It’s time for me to go home.” At about the same time the child’s mother was calling police to report her daughter missing, Butcher was releasing the girl. It’s not every day we get a story like this one on the Dreamin’ Demon…

Officers spotted the child about 30 minutes after her mother called 911. According to police affidavits, the child told officers that she had seen Butcher pass her by that morning and return a short time later. He approached her from behind, covered her mouth, lifted her from the ground, and forced her into his truck. She tried to call for help on her cell phone, but Butcher took it and destroyed it. She was able to give a detailed description of her abductor, his vehicle, and his home. According to the arrest affidavit, detectives from the sex offender and registration unit linked Butcher to the kidnapping, but exactly how they made the connection is unclear.

Turns out, Butcher is up to old tricks. Back in ‘91, he was convicted for the aggravated sexual assault of a 9-year-old girl in Korea, where he was stationed in the military. In ‘95, he was convicted of abduction with a weapon in Ohio (Based on a translation of Ohio state law, the offense in Texas would have been solicitation of a minor). Butcher made parole in ‘04 with special conditions that he not be around children. After the ‘91 conviction, Butcher was required to register as a sex offender for life – which he has failed to do. Once this story hit the media, his neighbors started to talk. “He knew every girl’s name in this immediate area,” neighbor Don Rogers said. “He didn’t know any men, but knew every girl and every dog’s name of those girls. It was strange.” Yes Don, that is strange! Strange enough that Don is fixin’ to move now. “When it happens right in your back pocket, it’s something you’re not going to forget for a very long time, a very long time,” he said. Amy Denny occupied the apartment directly under Butcher. “I told my friends when I moved in the first month that if anything happens, check the guy upstairs because he gives me a weird vibe,” she said. Hindsight, and all that…

Authorities also believe Butcher is a peeper. Austin police said that they had received two previous reports that Butcher was peeping through neighbors’ windows – a resident reported a man looking through her windows in August, but police Lt. Mark Spangler said that may not have constituted a crime. Spangler went on to say that while Butcher may have been peeping through windows, it’s not clear whether he was doing it for sexual gratification, which is required for criminal charges under state law. Well, I’m sure he wasn’t doing it because he wanted to check out her interior design skills.

Charles Eugene Butler, 42, was arrested Friday on several traffic violations and is being held on charges of aggravated kidnapping and failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements. His bail has been set at $600,000. What do ya say you keep the skeevy bastard in there this time, eh?

Waco, TX – Prisscilla Mechell, 25-year-old wife and mother, had everyone believing she was going to squish out a kid any day. Actually, she was supposed to make that happen last Monday morning, after telling her family that she was scheduled to have labor induced. Oh, happiness and joy! One problem. Prisscilla miscarried about 4 months ago. Ut-oh! Her husband, daughter, family, and friends are all expecting to see a shiny new baby and Prisscilla couldn’t very well just conjure up an infant. Or could she? As luck would have it, a friend of hers had just given birth to a bouncing baby boy just a week ago – maybe she could just borrow that one, or something.

Prisscilla paid a visit to the new mother and baby Monday morning. She kindly offered to watch baby Ryder, while mom, Kourtney Miller, took a nap. After Kourtney dozed off, Prisscilla took off with the boy, drove seven miles to her house, and promptly shaved the kid’s head with a razor to change his appearance. (This is where I picture her gluing a fake mustache on his little lip to further hide his true identity). Knowing that Kourtney was going to wake up and wonder where the hell her spawn got off to, Prisscilla started to freak out. The authorities would certainly know that she had the baby, so, she placed the little guy on the floorboard of her car and started looking for a place to hide him. And hide him she did. She put Ryder in a dumpster behind an abandoned gas station before returning to Miller’s home. Wait….what? Why the fuck didn’t she just take the damn kid back to his mother, cry “April Fool!” and just hope Kourtney had one helluva sense of humor? Well, because, in Prisscilla’s own words, she would “would rather have the baby die than to be caught with him.” What. The. Fuck. Bitch is plain crazy.

The police were still at the Miller home when Prisscilla reappeared without Ryder. Knowing the jig was up, she fessed up, telling deputies where they could find Ryder. There, under some trash and insulation, lay an overheated 1-week-old baby boy, and he was pissed! The deputy who found him said he was crying, hot to the touch, flushed, and had abrasions on both of his tiny knees. Other than that, the kid was in fairly good shape. Ryder was released from the hospital on Wednesday. Prisscilla, who somehow managed to avoid getting a severe beat-down from Ryder’s mom, is now looking at charges of aggravated kidnapping and injury to a child. Bond has been set at $500,000.

Oh, and on top of that, Prisscilla’s husband of five years, Scott Mechell, filed for a restraining order and a divorce. He wants Prisscilla to undergo a psych eval and he wants full custody of their 5-year-old daughter. “I am very concerned that my wife would injure our daughter or would take our daughter and leave the court’s jurisdiction,” he wrote. He is also requesting that Prisscilla have no visitation until after the next court hearing. Bravo, Scott.

JERSEY CITY, New Jersey – A 12-year-old girl was riding her bike over the weekend when she says she was abducted by Luigi Pandolfo, 33, and taken inside an apartment he shares with his mother. She was taken into a room, handcuffed and sexually assaulted – all the while police say Pandolfo’s mother kept banging on the locked door yelling at him. Police say that afterwards, Pandolfo moved the girl to vacant apartment behind his mother’s house, handcuffed her and returned home. When the the girl heard him arguing with his mother, she squeezed out of her handcuffs, climbed down a fire escape, jumped on her bike and peddled her ass home.

Pandolfo’s mother, who mostly speaks Italian and still wears black after the death of her husband, told reporters that the police got it all wrong and that her boy is innocent:  “Hesah goodah boyah. No onenah comesah to our homemah.” Ok, I added the “ah” parts. But she did say that, as well as explaining her son was trying to give away kittens and the girl went into the house to see which one she wanted. She says the girl was only there for 5 minutes, not the two hours the girl states.

But police found a bit more than kittens in the Pandolfo home, retrieving pornography, handcuffs and a body bag. Cadaver dogs were brought in as a precaution, but police feel that last item was more of a fetish object than a tool used in any past activity. Which is good, as I keep a few of those things handy myself. Mostly for the upcoming zombie outbreak that I will survive. I’d hate to think that keeping body bags around the house would automatically put a “murderer” label on me just because I plan ahead and do not want to stare into the face of the wife whose brains I blew out right after she hissed “brrrraaaiiiinnnnssss!”

Ahem, anyway, Pandolfo has been arrested and charged him with kidnapping and sexual assault, his bail was set at $500,000.

“You are charged with committing the act of sexual contact upon on a minor … for the purpose of sexually arousing and sexually gratifying yourself, or to humiliate or degrade the victim at the time the victim was 12 years of age,” read Judge Richard Nieto. Luckily, I do not think Pandolfo actually got a chance to do anything sexual with the girl aside from trying to take off her pants – but I could be wrong about that part. Not that he shouldn’t be charged with sexual assault for that, just info for anyone wondering what level of trauma this girl went through. She was pretty lucky.

Winnipeg, Canada – Early Tuesday morning, 18-year-old Tyler Bilsborrow stepped outside to have a smoke. He heard a commotion (screaming) coming from a short distance away and saw what he believed to be a woman abusing a cat. As he approached the crazy cat-flinging lady, he discovered that what he initially thought was a cat was actually a baby. The crazy lady, Nikita Eaglestick, had the child by the neck and was repeatedly slamming her face first into the pavement. When Nikita realized she had been spotted, she dropped the child and staggered off, crying. The baby, brutally beaten and struggling to breathe, tried to crawl away before being scooped up by Tyler. He wrapped the child in his hoodie and comforted her until emergency crews arrived. The question now is, what the fuck? Who was that crazy woman and what the hell does she have against babies?

The child’s mother, 24-year-old Daisy Houle, said her daughter, 14-month-old Vanessa, was sound asleep in her bed that morning when she left the home to make a phone call at a nearby phone booth. Left in charge was the woman’s brother, who was visiting with a couple of women in the home. The women, one of whom Daisy didn’t know, were drinking beer. When Daisy returned to the home, her brother informed her that the child was missing. Shortly thereafter, Tyler Bilsborrow saved the baby girl’s life by chasing off the nutty Nikita.

Authorities state that Nikita had been partying with the parents prior to the assault and that, yes, she had been drinking. As far as a motive behind the baby bashing incident, everyone is baffled as to why.“That is something that we’re all kind of scratching our heads right now to try and figure out,” Const. Jason Michalyshen said. “Our investigators spent the majority of the day interviewing witnesses — individuals that may possess valuable information with regards to the investigation.” As far as I can tell, Nikita had absolutely no connection to Vanessa or to her parents.

Nikita Eaglestick, 19, was out on bail at the time of the assault on Vanessa. She had been arrested on July 10 for assaulting a woman with a screwdriver. She was released from jail on a promise to appear in court to answer to charges of assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm – a couple of days after she was released, she was hauled back to the pokey for violating the terms of her release by drinking alcohol and “failing to keep the peace” on two separate occasions. She made bail on August 4. She made it until the 21st before being arrested again – this time, she threatened to kill a couple of RCMP’s. (Damn. Might as well put in a revolving door for the chick). She made bail, again, on August 28. This time around, I hope they toss away the key – she is a fuckin’ nut job. Nikita is now being held on charges of attempted murder, abduction, aggravated assault, and failure to comply with conditions of her bail.

Vanessa’s condition, initially considered critical, has improved – she is now listed in stable condition. Details as to how serious her injuries are haven’t been released. As usual, we will continue to update this story as more information is made available.

BATTLE GROUND, Washington -Another story of a loser jackass trying to abduct a teen girl off a public street and failing miserably. A 15-year-old girl was jogging when a man pulled up beside her in a silver pickup truck and accosted her at gunpoint, telling her to get into the vehicle. She decided she’s rather not and began screaming alerting a neighbor nearby. She broke free and the witness called police, giving a very detailed description of the vehicle and the man who sped off in it. Within minutes the truck was spotted and the driver, Matthew Ortiz, was arrested.

Police say that Ortiz has no record, so without the witness and the details he was able to provide, it would have been tough to make an arrest. And thank they did because 27-year-old Matthew wasn’t playing around. Police revealed some of the contents found in his truck: a knit ski mask, gloves, zip ties, camouflage clothing, a loaded handgun and other items. As we have stated before, it may not work all the time, but if you are ever approached like this you better assume your life is at stake and if you’d like to keep it a while longer, it may be good to fight for it.

Ortiz is in the Clark County Jail on charges of first degree kidnap and first degree assault. Congrats to the teen for saving herself, the neighbor for getting involved, and the Battle Ground Police Department for their quick arrest.

Concord, California – In 1991, 11-year-old Jaycee Dugard was abducted by a man and woman in a grey sedan as she walked to catch her Lake Tahoe school bus. Her stepfather could only watch in horror as Jaycee was dragged into the car two blocks away, kicking and screaming. You can read the full details of the abduction at The Charley Project. A massive manhunt ensued, the media rounds made, but she was never heard from again. Police had suspects over the years, including a defrocked priest, but the case of Jaycee Dugard had gone cold. Until yesterday when a 29-year-old woman walked into a police station in Antioch, California, claiming to be the missing girl.

Jaycee Dugard’s stepfather, who has since separated from Jaycee’s mother, says California authorities have a woman and Dugard’s suspected captors in custody. He also stated that Jaycee’s mother “got a call from the FBI, they said they had found JC and she was alive,” he said in a phone interview from the couple’s Riverside County home. “They put her (the woman) on the phone. My wife talked with her and is convinced she is Jaycee. Jaycee remembers everything.”

The woman claiming to be Jaycee has spoken to family members, and they believe she is the girl who was kidnapped 18 years ago. Dugard’s mother, Terry Probyn, is flying to Northern California to meet the woman claiming to be her daughter with her 19-year-old daughter who was only 1-year-old at the time of her sister’s kidnapping. There is a news conference planned for 6 p.m. ET, but court records show that a search warrant was issued Wednesday for 1554 Walnut Ave., Antioch. Records indicate it is the address of Philllip and Nancy Garrido. Phillip Garrido, 58, and a registered sex offender, was being held on $1 million bail for charges including committing lewd acts with a minor, rape and kidnapping. His wife was being held on $1 million bail on charges that include kidnapping and a conspiracy to committ robbery or rape.

I had no plans on writing up this story as everyone and their mother will have heard about it by tomorrow and the name Jaycee Dugard will be in the mouths of everyone as the news grabs hold of this story. But you know what? Fuck it. We have so many articles on here that end in tragedy, this ending is so rare – even if it is bittersweet – that I felt it deserved to be put up.

Let me take this time to also say that while I am happy this chick wasn’t found in the form of skeletal remains at the bottom of a well somewhere, I also would like to tell the chick in the glasses and ponytail in the video above that she should really call me. I would have a lot of fun disappointing her for about 15 minutes. Give or take.

CHESAPEAKE, Virginia. - Here is a nightmare story that had a nice ending. On Thursday, a 15-year-old girl was walking down the 1700 block of Dock Landing when Christopher Scott Little, 33,  pulled his white pickup into a nearby driveway, got out and grabbed her, putting her into his vehicle. At some point, Christopher stopped the vehicle and the teen jumped out. Christopher gave chase and tried putting her back in the truck, but she was able to flee and alert police. She gave them a description of Christopher, his vehicle AND the license plate number. He was picked up a short time later and with the teen’s identification, charged with one count of abduction by force..

Little is a complete stranger to the teen and to possibly show how close this story could have turned into something even more horrific, Little was convicted in January 2007 in Hanover County on two counts of carnal knowledge of a child, according to the Virginia State Police sex offender registry. Kudos to the teen for not only taking her life into her own hands, but having the state of mind to remember all the info needed to get this creepy motherfucker off the streets.

UNION COUNTY, GA- I didn’t put this one up initially because it sounded so brazen an act that I thought for sure it would have been solved by now. But as some of you have heard or read, Kristi Cornwell, 38, was taking a walk last Tuesday at around 9 p.m. While talking on the phone with her boyfriend she stated a car was pulling up to her. The boyfriend then described sounds of her screaming and sounds that led him to believe she was being kidnapped. Some of her personal items were found at the scene, her cell phone recovered 3 miles away on Friday. 150 registered sex offenders have already been interviewed as well as some ex-husbands. Witnesses reported a white, Suburban-type SUV and a tan or gold Toyota or Nissan compact car in the area at the time of the abduction. Tulsa, OK- My child came up missing once when he was 4 years old. He was on the back patio playing. I went in to get him some juice and when I came back out, he was gone. I panicked. I couldn’t believe he disappeared that freaking quick. I immediately ran around the side of the building to find his bicycle lying on the ground next to the road and no sign of him. It felt like the world stopped spinning. The playground was empty, the parking lot deserted, and the eerie stillness that hung in the air that sunny morning surrounded me like a heavy fog of despair. I immediately called 911 while I banged on my neighbors’ doors, desperate to end one of my worst nightmares. He was found a short time later inside the house of his friend and I cannot begin to express the overwhelming relief and joy that rushed through my body. I imagine the parents of a 2-year old girl who disappeared on Wednesday evening experienced everything I did, except for when they learned where their child was found.

Around 8:45pm that Wednesday, police responded to a missing persons call about a 2 year-old girl that had somehow disappeared. While they worked on getting the information they needed, officers on routine patrol nearby noticed a truck parked in field. At first, the officers believed the truck was either abandoned or stolen when they stopped to check it out. But when they approached the vehicle, they discovered Marcus Berry was sitting inside with his pants down and a female toddler was sitting next to him partially clothed.

The officers had just placed Berry in handcuffs and began caring for the child when they heard the description of the missing girl go out. They realized they had found the missing child and her abductor by a stroke of luck and quick thinking. Marcus Berry, who has a long criminal record including prior convictions for lewd molestation, is now charged with lewd molestation after former conviction and kidnapping. His bond was set at $150,000. The little girl was taken to the hospital to be checked out. Big kudos to those cops and thank goodness she was found alive!

Austin, TX - Margarita Niño had told those closest to her, including the one man brave enough to mount the beast – her boyfriend, that she was expecting a little bundle of joy. On the day the blessed event was to occur, Margarita informed everyone that she was off to the hospital to squish out a new kid and she was gone. On the way to the hospital, Margarita made a detour. You see, before she could return to her family with a shiny new baby, she first needed to find one. Yes, Demonites – Margarita wasn’t full of baby, she was full of shit. But, as luck would have it, she already had a couple victims in mind – Blanca Zacarias and her 12-day-old son. Margarita had met Blanca through a mutual friend just days earlier and put her diabolical plan in motion. She would drug Blanca, kidnap her and the child, kill Blanca, dump her body, and raise her child. What could possibly go wrong?

The first couple steps in her evil little plan went off without a hitch. Margarita met with Blanca and served the new mother some drugged up tea. When Blanca was sufficiently out of it, Margarita loaded her and the baby into her car and headed for the border. Good thing Margarita has a big mouth and a lead foot.

While driving to Mexico with her captives, Margarita called a friend and informed her that she was going to drop Blanca off a bridge. Strike one. Before Margarita made it to the border, she was pulled over for speeding. Strike two. The officer, not knowing that Blanca and her child had been kidnapped, and Blanca being drugged up and unable to inform him of the hambeast’s plan, issued Margarita a citation and let her go. Because Blanca lacked identification and immigration documents, she and her child were detained and handed over to immigration authorities. Once the drugs wore off, Blanca was able to relay to officials that she had been drugged and kidnapped. She and the baby were taken to the hospital for examination and released. Both mother and son are safely back home in Austin. Authorities were able to track down Margarita and arrest her. Strike three, bitch. Margarita Niño, 40, has been charged with two counts of third-degree kidnapping. Bail was set at a measly $1,000 per count.

FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas - Who knows what I may have been typing here had a 14-year-old girl not behaved the way she did on the afternoon of July 9th. As she was walking near Fort Bend County middle school, a man in a pickup stopped along side her and asked if she needed a ride to wherever she was headed. After saying no she didn’t the man got out of his truck,  grabbed her arm and demanded she get inside his vehicle. Bad move as this teen was not going to oblige. She fought back, including kicking him in the shins, freeing herself to run for help. She was able to provide police with a description of the man, his truck and even gave a partial license plate number.

“This young lady did a remarkable job,” said Fort Bend Chief Deputy Craig Brady. “Not only did she fight and even injure her attacker, she memorized part of his license plate number and gave a very accurate description of his truck, including some very distinctive markings on it.”

One officer thought the girl’s description matched someone he was familiar with. They ran his name and found that the partial plate information matched 43-year-old Craig Stillwagon’s.  The 14-year-old was then able to identify him via a photo lineup. On Tuesday, an arrest warrant was issued. They didn’t have to wait long to apprehended him as later that same day he was pulled over for a traffic violation.  Stillwagon is now charged with attempted kidnapping and being held in the Fort Bend County Jail on $150,000 bond.

Kudos to the girl in the story. It’s a shitty thing that kids cannot walk down the street without fear of becoming a snatched-of-the-street statistic. Luckily this particular chick did everything right when finding herself in this rare situation. Not saying that that her actions will always work in cases like this, but if someone is trying to stuff you in their vehicle, it’s probably not to take you to go ride a unicorn. Fighting like your well-being depended on it should be top priority as in all likelihood, that’s probably the case.
