Police Name Persons Of Interest In Death Of Alexis Rasmussen

NORTH OGDEN, Utah – Police in Utah have named the “persons of interest” in relation to the death of 16-year-old Alexis Rasmussen, the girl who went missing back in September and whose decompsing body was found earlier this month.

In no big shock to anyone following the case, Eric and Dea Millerberg, the couple Rasmussen was allegedly babysitting for the night she disappeared, are the police’s prime suspects.

For those of you who have not been following this story, reports are that Rasmussen was last seen on Sept 9th while babysitting Eric and Dea Millerberg’s two young children. The couple would say that the teen left later that night to see friends after her mother told her it was ok for to sleep at the couple’s home since it was late when they arrived back home.

On October 18, police found the decomposed body of Rasmussen 35 to 50 yards from a road after acting on a tip from an anonymous caller. Police would announce that her death was homicide, but not necessarily murder.…

Here, Now – I’m an avid reader who, like a lot of you, found it harder and harder to squeeze in quality reading time within a normal day. It got to the point where most of my reading was being done sitting on the toilet. That is until I broke down and bought a Kindle. Now I read everywhere, including the toilet, finishing one to two books every couple of weeks.

That’s the reason for the resurgence of book reviews in Cracked Spine. That and the fact I want to point out books I found worth my time that you may enjoy as well. I’m here to please, people. I may not get to the bad books as I don’t have time to waste on them (although I did finish the highly praised The Priest’s Graveyard that featured a chick so goddamn annoying it took all I could to finish it) but I plan on talking about the good books like the one I read last month.

Burglar Bites Off Part Of Victim’s Ear, Loses Pants

MESA, AZ - Police say that a burglar and his victim got into a scuffle that ended with the victim losing a portion of his ear and a burglar losing his pants.

When Manuel Corrales and his wife returned home Friday afternoon, they encountered 23-year-old Joshua Kyle Randall in their bedroom rifling through their things.

Corrales and Randall got into a physical confrontation while Corrales’ wife called 911. When she returned to help her husband, Randall grabbed her by the hair and threatened to harm her if Corrales did not let go of him.

She would break free and run screaming to the neighbors for help. After hitting Corrales multiple times with a brass candlestick holder and a piece of a broken sink, Randall would bite off a chunk of Corrales’ ear. Randall would finally get out of Corrales’ grip and run out of the house. But not without leaving some things behind.

“I grabbed him with my legs and he ran out of the room with his boxers on,” said Corrales. “He left without any of our belongings and he left his pants, shoes and a cell phone.”

Randall would be apprehended by police 100 yards away — in his underwear.…

Panhandler Attacked Man Who Refused To Give Him Money

Tampa, FL – Just days after Tampa enacted a law that makes it illegal to panhandle in their city on any day but Sunday, police say a panhandler pulled a knife on a man who would not give him 50 cents.

Juan Lopez told police he was approached by Robert Comacho as he was leaving his cigar shop on Saturday. Lopez told Comacho he did not have the 50 cents he was asking for, prompting Comacho to pull out a knife.

Lopez said that after threatening him, Comacho tried to slash the tires of his truck before he was able to get in and drive away — with the Comacho chasing after him. Nearby police witnessed the tail-end of this confrontation and were able to arrest Comacho on charges of aggressive panhandling.

I’ve never been bothered much by panhandlers and of all the times I’ve been approached, and have only given money to one guy who wanted money for a bottle of Night Train. I got us both one. But there was this one lady we called “Queenie” who hung around outside my work asking people for things no one would normally have on them.…

Man Charged With Masturbating In Front Of Sonic Drive-In

Kennet, Missouri – Police have arrested a man after witnesses say he drove up to Sonic Drive-in, got out of his car completely nekkid and began jacking-off in front of several people, including children.

Police were called but the derpy ham baster, later identified as 45-year-old Keith O. Smith, had already left the scene before they got there. He was found a little while later after his 2010 Ford Mustang was spotted by police.

Smith was charged with 1st degree sexual misconduct and two counts of 2nd degree sexual misconduct. He is currently in jail on a $12,000 cash-only bond.

I think I’ve been writing these stories too long as the only thing that surprised me in this one was that a Sonic Drive-in had customers. Their food is practically inedible.…

Man Gets Stuck In Child’s Swing For Hours, Wins Bet

Vallejo, CA – No crime was committed in this story, but the visuals had me laughing my ass off this morning.

A 21-year-old was in Blue Rock Springs Park Friday night with friends when he bet $100 he could fit his ass into a child’s swing. You know, the plastic ones made for toddlers that are equipped with leg holes.

The man lubed himself up with some laundry detergent and successfully squeezed himself into the swing, winning the $100. Unfortunately, his winning will barely cover the costs of having to be rescued by Vallejo fighters. See, the man got stuck in the swing. Even worse, the man has douchebag friends who did what I would have done when they left him stuck in the swing.

He would not be found until 9 hours later after a park employee arrived and called police upon hearing the man’s screams for help. Ok, up to this point the story is kind of humorous to me. But what happened next is the hilarious part.…

Couple Arrested After Teen Found Hiding Under Neighbor’s Porch

Eerie, Colo – Last one for me before I start the weekend. Police have arrested a couple after a man returned home to find a frightened boy hiding under his front porch.

Amanda Jolliff, 36, and her boyfriend, Richard Smith, 31, have been charged with child abuse, false imprisonment and crimes against an At Risk juvenile after they say they kept Joliff’s 14-year-old son locked in a room inside their mobile home.

The boy finally escaped after being left in the mobile home alone, but since he didn’t have anywhere to go, he crawled under a neighbors porch to sleep. The man who found the boy told reporters the boy “was terrified” and didn’t want to be home when his mom and her boyfriend got back.

Officers described a disgusting living situation when they entered the mobile home where the boy lived.

“Upon entering the residence, I detected an overpowering odor of animal urine and feces,” Erie Police Corporal Aaron Haddox said. “My nose began running, my throat became irritated, and my eyes were burning.…

Here’s another book recommendation for you. I already missed one day and if I go two days without telling you all about a good book or movie, then it’s all over with. This would just hurt you ’cause if I recommend it, then it’s worth checking out. That’s a fact.

Today’s suggestion is Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter by Tom Franklin. I’ve never read anything from the guy, but his book was high on the Amazon must-read list, and the synopsis sounded promising:

“In the 1970s, Larry Ott and Silas “32″ Jones were boyhood pals in a small town in rural Mississippi. Their worlds were as different as night and day: Larry was the child of lower-middle-class white parents, and Silas, the son of a poor, black single mother. Top Chef Contestant Arrested For Child Pornography

Plano, TX – The executive pastry chef at Dallas’ Ritz-Carlton hotel, who was also a finalist in Bravo’s Top Chef: Just Deserts last year, has been arrested for child pornography.

The indictment says 38-year-old Morgan Wilson downloaded and viewed child porn on his computer that involved children, ranging in age from 2 to 10, engaged in explicit sex acts.

He got busted because, thank God, he’s one of those idiots who gets their child porn off of Limewire. A law enforcement officer downloaded three videos from Wilson before his apartment was raided.

Wilson, a divorced father of a 7-year-old boy, admitted to downloading and viewing the videos. He was charged with three second-degree felony charges of possession with intent to promote child pornography. He was released on $10,000 bail and will be back to face a judge on Oct 27.…

Teen Couple Arrested After Mother, Stepfather Found In Shallow Graves

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – A 15-year-old girl and her 16-year-old boyfriend are currently behind bars suspected of killing the girl’s mother and step-father.

According to Lt. Mary Leef of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the victims were reported missing on Tuesday “under suspicious circumstances.” Family members pointed police to the missing woman’s daughter and her boyfriend after she was seen discarding some of her mother’s possessions.

One neighbor said that when she asked the teen where her mother was, the girl told her that she was in the hospital having surgery. Turns out she was actually in a vacant lot rotting in a shallow grave. Her body was found on Saturday after someone walking by noticed a foul odor.

On Wednesday, police would contact the teens who would take police to a vacant lot a block away from the victims’ home. There, inside another shallow grave, was the body of the girl’s stepfather. The teens were arrested that night on suspicion of murder.

Because of their ages, the teens’ identities have not been released.…

Teacher Accused Of Choking 6-Year-Old Student On Playground

BAKER, LA – A teacher in Louisiana lost it the other day and is now in jail after reportedly choking a 6-year-old student.

The incident happened on the campus playground of an unnamed school where a 6-year-old girl was doing something that really got under 65-year-old Mildred Russ’ skin and had her losing any semblance of patience or control.

First she wrapped her legs around the girl to keep her from moving then tied the girl’s sweater around her neck, squeezing it every time she tried. Russ finally dragged the girl to the principal’s office, pulling her out of her shoes in the process.

For her actions, Russ was arrested on a charge of cruelty to a juvenile and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. I know some will come in here and back this teacher in some fashion, citing disrespectful kids, lack of parenting, etc, etc. But I don’t choke disrespectful kids in the grocery store or in my neighborhood, whether they deserved it or not. Anonymous Takes Down Child Porn Sites, Releases Users’ Names

The hackitivst group Anonymous are claiming to have taken down over 40 child pornography websites. going as far as posting one site’s list of over 1,500 members.

I’m not going to get into the technical details of what Anonymous did because it is too early in the morning. Besides, they have posted a timeline of events as well as a handful of related documents over on Pastebin you can peruse.

I found the documents to be as entertaining as they were interesting and informative. The chat log between Anonymous members and the supposed owner of a server that hosted child porn was particularly humorous.

But basically, Anonymous hacked a child porn site, Lolita City, and released the site’s list of over 1500 members, including usernames, how long they have been active on the site and how many images they have shared. They are also claiming to have learned the identities of some of the people on the list and have invited the FBI to contact them if they wanted the details.

They also focused their attention towards Freedom Hosting when they found that over 40 sites that host and distribute child porn were using one of their shared servers.…

Mom Admits Giving Her Kids Beer And Cocaine

BRIDGEPORT, CT – I was just about to write a story about a woman in Pennsylvania who abandoned her kid in a Taco Bell parking lot when I found an update on 29-year-old Juliette Dunn who Jaded posted about back in July. She and another woman have admitted to supplying beer and cocaine to Dunn’s 4-year-old son and 10-month-old daughter.

Dunn and 33-year-old Lisa Jefferson both plead guilty Wednesday to two counts of risk of injury to a child after an event that happened back in June. Police were flagged down by someone who informed them Dunn and Jefferson were at a playground with Dunn’s two young children. They said they watched Jefferson make Dunn’s 4-year-old son chug a bottle of beer. When he had finished, Jefferson allegedly called the boy an alcoholic.

When police approached the women there was an empty 40-ounce bottle of Steel reserve beer on the ground beside the boy and a baby bottle was next to the 10-month-old girl that contained a dark liquid that smelled like alcohol.…

Memphis Man Accused Of Raping His Mother

Memphis, TN – I’m a little late on this one, but police in Memphis have arrested a man and accused him of raping his mother.

Reports are that a 37-year-old man asked his 57-year-old mother to come into his room and help him change a light bulb in his ceiling fan.

Once his mother was in the room and holding a table for her son, he allegedly grabbed her from behind and tried to sexually assault her. She managed to fight him off for a little bit before he wrestled her to the ground and raped her. She was eventually able to escape and call police.

This happened back in August, but there is no explanation as to why the man wasn’t arrested until earlier this month and charged with aggravated rape. The unidentified mother f*cker is being held on a $500,000 bond.

Speaking of raping your mom… could you imagine being Sofía Vergara’s son and seeing her walk around the house in her underwear or bikini? I could only imagine what a moral quandary that must be.…

Man Kills Self After Releasing Lions, Tigers, And Bears! Oh, My!

ZANESVILLE, Ohio - Ohio police were forced to hunt grizzly bears, lions and tigers after some whack job purposely released over 50 exotic animals he kept on his property before committing suicide.

Terry Thompson, 62, operated the Muskingum County Animal Farm, a 40-acre farm that housed about 50 big-game animals, including Bengal tigers, lions, cheetahs, wolves, giraffes, camels and grizzly bears. Officials have been on the property many times in the past investigating complaints of animals running loose or being abused.

“We’ve handled numerous complaints here, we’ve done numerous inspections here. So this has been a huge problem for us for a number of years,” said Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz.

But the animal farm, and Thompson, will no longer be a problem for anyone ever again after Thompson purposely released the animals and then killed himself on Tuesday. No official reason on why he did this, but he’d just gotten out of prison last month after serving a year on weapons charges and his wife left him. That would explain the suicide.…

Missing Teen Found Murdered, Stuffed Inside Duffel Bag

BETHANY, Oklahoma – Police confirmed on Monday that the body found stuffed inside a duffel bag last week was 19-year-old Carina Saunders, who was reported missing earlier this month.

According to police, an animal rescue group found Saunder’s body while searching for feral cats in a wooded area behind a Homeland and called 911. Yesterday Police Chief Phil Cole would reveal the body, which had been there for two to three days, belonged to Saunders after dental records were matched.

The medical examiner has not released an official cause of death, stating the autopsy has not been completed, but has ruled the teen’s death as a homicide.

According to her friends and family, Saunders was last seen on Sept 28 getting into a Chevy Blazer driven by a white man about 40 years-old, with gray hair. Cole said that there were reports of Saunders being spotted at an apartment complex on October 8 or 9, adding this wouldn’t be unusual as she had friends there and frequented the area.

The FBI are now involved and police said they have several leads but no motivation for the killing.…

Man Commits Suicide By Cliff After Threatening To Kill Family

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Stories regarding someone killing their family before killing themselves often have people remarking that they wish the person would’ve done things in reverse order. That seems to have been the case for a man in California, who intentionally drove off a cliff after threatening to kill his wife and kids.

Police say a husband and wife got into a fight Sunday that had the woman leaving the home. When she returned the following morning, her husband was drunk and threatening to kill her, their kids and even his fellow employees. Being one of the smarter women we have reported on, she left the house again and used the phone at a nearby gas station to call police.

While on the phone with police, her husband drove by her slowly while yelling at her, telling the police who had showed up they’d better follow him into the canyon. Police began following the man as he drove down the highway at 70 mph, but pulled back at a safe speed after learning the driver had called police headquarters informing them he was planning on driving off a cliff.…

I’m trying to get back into the groove of writing up reviews, so here’s another book for you. This is the last one I finished called The Lock Artist by Steve Hamilton. I regularly peruse the Best Books of the Month on Amazon and this particular book was high on the list in January. I was already familiar with Hamilton’s McKnight series, which this is not a part of, so I checked out the official synopsis:

Renaissance Fighter Arrested After Forcing Daughter To Sword Fight

YELM, Wash. — A couple have gotten themselves into some trouble after doling out a rather unorthodox form of punishment on to their 16-year-old daughter after she went to a party without permission.

After her father, 38-year-old Fremon Seay, picked the teen up from what he called a “crack house,” he brought her home and whipped her legs with a switch while he sat on her back. Feeling that this punishment wasn’t adequate, Seay came up with a radical form of punishment — a sword fight.

Seay, being one of those “Renaissance fighters” who dress up in medieval garb and participates in mock sword fights, figured out a way to discipline his daughter and get in some training at the same time.

He suited up in medieval armor then made the girl do the same, handing her a wooden sword. Then, from 2 to 4 a.m. Sunday, he forced the girl to duel him in the front yard until “she could no longer stand from exhaustion.”

When the fight was over and Seay declared victory, he reportedly apologized to his daughter when he saw the extensive bruises she had suffered to her face, torso and legs, telling her that he did not mean for things to go that far. Police got involved after the teen texted pictures of her injuries to a friend who then called 911.…

Teen Arrested After He Came Inside Church

CHARLOTTE HARBOR, FL. - Technically, the 17-year-old boy was arrested after he came inside an 11-year-old girl inside church.

A mother told police she was leaving church but could not find her 11-year-old daughter. After locating her 10 minutes later, her daughter informed her that she had been having sex with 17-year-old Pierre Tony inside the 7th Day Adventist Church’s bathroom.

The girl repeated the story to police during questioning and Tony must have done something similar after voluntarily arriving at the police station with his father. After his interview with police, he was arrested and charged with sexual battery before being transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice.

I had sex in church with my girlfriend multiple times as a teen. She was my same age, but church was the only place she was allowed to go without her strict parents. So every Wednesday evening we skipped Bible study and would bump uglies in a locked youth room equipped with a foosball table, a television, and more importantly, a couch.

All these years later I vividly remember looking up from my bent over girlfriend’s back and into the eyes of Jesus, who was in a painting on the wall surrounded by sheep and children, realizing that if there was a Hell I would surely be visiting it at some point.…
