Renton, WA – I can’t say I’ve had a lot of acquaintances over the years who I would expect to crop up on this site, but if I ever had one, this would definitely be the guy.
Please give a big Dreamin’ Demon welcome to Wesley Strom, 41, and car thief extraordinaire. Wesley, or Wes, as we knew him, has always been an extremely proficient car thief and, while this is not his first time getting busted for this particular hobby, it is certainly the most spectacularly moronic.
His undoing began March 14th, when he inadvertently pocket-dialed 911. It didn’t take long for the dispatcher to realize that they were listening to a crime in progress. ”You pull up, I jump out,” Wes clearly states in the released 911 call. ”I’ll go jiggle a key; I’ll be done in…37 seconds.”
The call lasted for 44 minutes. Although cops were dispatched to the area, and a report of a stolen Toyota 4Runner pinpointed the location for them, police were unable to find both the 4Runner and the thieves.…

Barrington, IL – It’s nothing I haven’t done. You see a couple of teenage girls out in bad weather and you do the neighborly thing and offer them a ride home. But, if you are a male in the Barrington area, such thoughtfulness is ill-advised and, according to the local prosecutor, downright illegal… even if you have great hair.
It was during a March 2nd snow storm that the man pictured left, Rodney Peterson, had stopped for gas at a Shell station. While there, he noticed two teen girls leaving. “I just noticed these girls, that they had no umbrella, no coats or hood or something of that nature and I just felt like I should help,” Peterson recalled. So, he did what any decent person (or opportunistic predator) would do and pulled up to offer them a ride. “How far do you have to walk?” he asked before one said, “We’re okay,” and signaled him to move along.
The father of three (with a fourth on the way) continued home to his family and thought little of the encounter. That is, until police showed up on his door step a few days later. He was shocked to learn that, not only had the girls taken down his plate number and reported the incident to police, he was also being charged with disorderly conduct.…

Boston, MA – Dr. Colette Vieau and her family, a husband and two young daughters, had boarded a JetBlue flight back to Boston from the luxurious island of Turks and Caicos when they were told to get off. The reason? Their two-year-old, Natalie, was throwing a fit and refused to be seated.
In a courageous show of force, the girl’s parents finally managed to wrangle the beast and restrain her with a seat belt, holding her in place. Dr. Vieau, who states her family were never belligerent, angry or screaming, then said to a flight attendant, “We have them seated. Can we go now?”
It was at that point that the flight attendant informed them the pilot had already decided, for the safety of all customers and crewmembers on board, that the family be removed from the plane.
JetBlue released a statement explaining the pilot came to this decision because the family “did not comply with crewmember instructions for a prolonged time period.”
There were no more flights that night, and the family reports that they spent $2,000 for a hotel and new flights. I reckon they could have obtained a toddler-sized muzzle and straitjacket for less than half that.…

Port Angeles, WA – Paul Brinkmann, an eighth-grade math teacher at Stevens Middle School, stands accused of child rape, and it would seem the community is standing with him. At the conclusion of his March 5th hearing, the roomful of Brinkmann supporters gave him a standing ovation, despite allegedly knowing he admitted the abuse to police.
The victim, who is not a student at the middle school, contacted police and told them about the abuse. It allegedly began as molestation around the age of 11 and continued for five years, eventually becoming rape, which occurred between 10 and 15 times. He also alleges Brinkmann threatened violence if the victim told anyone. According to Probable Cause documents, Brinkmann admitted the molestation but not the rape, stating, “He is the only one I want.”
Whether or not this little tidbit came out during the hearing has become a hot dispute in the comments section of at least one article on the subject, with some members of the community stating that they had no idea and would never support an admitted child rapist for any reason. One commenter goes onto state that “His supporters were all in the solid belief he was targeted by a vengeful child who made the allegations as retribution for the threat of drug rehab.” Not the first time that story’s been used.…
Continue ReadingGirl Suspected In High School Stabbings Has Depraved “Bucket List”
March 2, 2012 at 8:13 pm by Athena
Snohomish, WA – Snohomish County Prosecutor Cindy Larsen wants to try the 15-year-old girl accused of stabbing two school mates last year as an adult, and it’s no wonder why. The girl has developed a particularly wicked “bucket list” while behind bars – a bucket list that includes attacking the victims again and torturing toddlers. It’s undoubtedly a ploy for attention but, hey, I’m game.
The attack occurred Oct. 24th in a girl’s restroom at Snohomish High School. The victims, freshmen April Lutz and Bekah Staudacher, were seen on surveillance video entering together. Soon after, the hooded attacker enters behind them. Commotion is heard and a crowd gathers outside. Eventually, paramedics cart out a victim on a stretcher. Staudacher received a large slice to the arm and was stabbed in the back, while Lutz received 13 stab wounds described as “life-threatening.” Both have recovered.
But the situation with the attacker started long before this incident. In April of last year, a couple of kids told school officials that the girl had become obsessed with them and threatened to kill one of their boyfriends.…
Continue ReadingMuslim Judge Calls Victim “Dufus”, Dismisses Charges Against Muslim Attacker

Mechanicsburg, PA – How I missed this story when it first broke is entirely beyond me. It’s got everything: Offensive Atheists, a zombie Muhammad, zombie Pope, a hyper-aggressive Muslim family man and a judge who doesn’t appear to understand the First Amendment.
It began at the Oct. 11 Halloween parade in Mechanicsburg, PA, where the Parading Atheists of Central Pennsylvania were doing their thing. Mr. Ernest Perce, PA State Director of American Atheists, Inc., dressed up as zombie Muhammad among other inflammatory characters that included a zombie Pope (equal opportunity haters, us atheists).
Before he knew it, Mr. Perce was being attacked by a man obviously offended by the spirited costume. The man choked him from behind as he attempted to rip his “Muhammad of Islam” sign from him, the audio of which was at least partially caught on video. The attack was brief and Perce continued to walk until he bumped into Police Sgt. Brian Curtis, who took the report.
Open and closed, right? No, see… Here’s where things go from bizarre to ridiculous. The prosecutor settled on a harassment charge and the case found its way to Cumberland County Magisterial District Judge Mark Martin. As luck would have it, dude’s also a Muslim. But, that shouldn’t matter, right?…

Austin, TX – For renowned police critic and Grits for Breakfast blogger Scott Henson, it could have been so perfect. On the night in question, the very white Henson was walking his black 5-year-old granddaughter home through a park. Someone at the park called 911, alleging that a white man was chasing and attempting to kidnap a young black child. As you might expect, police swarmed the area, and that’s where the drama begins.
The following Saturday, the aggravated Henson took to the blog, crafting a hypercritical version of events titled, “Me, APD and ‘Babysitting While White,’ Part Deux”. He begins by linking the incident to a question posed on the blog previously: “Is babysitting while white reasonable suspicion for police questioning?” It’s every bit as reasonably suspicious as Driving While Black or Painting While Hispanic, if you ask me.
Henson describes being stopped by an officer who asked his granddaughter if she knew him. When she responded that it was her grandfather, the officer let them continue on their way. Just minutes later, however, as they crossed a street a mere two blocks from home, multiple squad cars appeared. Cops jumped out of their cars, tasers ready, and shouted at him to step away from the girl. When he complied, Henson says he was “roughly cuffed” shortly before witnessing another officer “brusquely snatching” his granddaughter up and placing her in the back seat of a car.…

Baltimore, MD – I’m a week late on this one. Of course, it’s continued coverage of what was once the case of a missing black girl, so no one’s paying attention anyway. We should be paying attention, though, especially those of us with daughters. For you who may not recall, Phylicia Barnes was the stunning, bright 16-year-old who disappeared in December while visiting her sister in Baltimore, only to reemerge in April, naked and floating in the Susquehanna river.
In a disturbing but not altogether surprising development, investigators are using child pornography statutes to gain access to several email and Facebook accounts that may have been associated with Barnes, including two Yahoo! accounts under Phylicia’s name and the accounts of four Baltimore men.
It is a logical continuation in the investigation of an attractive young lady who disappeared into thin air while visiting a major city, found dead in an obvious manner four months later. What likely happened to Phylicia is not an uncommon phenomenon. In every major city across the nation, you can find the distraught parent of a teen who has been abducted and forced into prostitution. It transcends race and even economic status. Some survive, but many don’t. To the parasites responsible for these abductions, these girls are considered disposable; a fact evidenced by the callous way in which Phylicia’s body was disposed of.…
Continue ReadingHigh School Senior Charged With Felony After Blow-Up Doll Prank Backfires
June 10, 2011 at 7:55 am by Athena
Rushville, Ind. – A senior at an Indiana high school decided to pull a seemingly harmless prank at his school even thought the students had been warned against doing so, and his decision landed him in jail, caused him to miss his graduation and now facing some possible time in prison.
It was with justifiable concern that school officials watched on survelliance video as an ominous, hooded and gloved individual entered the girl’s bathroom at Rushville High with an unspecified package, reemerging minutes later empty-handed. Believing it contained explosives, the school was evacuated and the bomb squad was called in. Soon after, both the offender and the contents of the package were recovered.
The offender? 18-year-old Rushville High senior Tyell Morton. The contents of the package? A freakin’ blow-up doll. Tyell developed the brilliant plan to plant the doll in the women’s restroom at school as a senior prank. The young man with no prior record now claims authorities are “blowing it out of proportion” (his words, not mine, but I would’ve used ‘em anyway), and I must say, I rather agree.…

Conway, N.H – You remember Krista Dittmeyer, the lovely, inconspicuous-looking young woman whose infant daughter was found in her abandoned car a mere quarter-mile from the retention pond where her body was found. Well, as it turns out, looks can be deceiving. Three men have been arrested and charged in connection with the murder of this budding young drug dealer in what has become a tragedy-turned-cautionary tale.
Michael Petelis, 28, referred to himself as her “protector” while her baby daddy served his 18-month sentence for cocaine trafficking. But, as often happens in the drug world, Petelis had only gotten close to her to gain access to her goods (and, no, we don’t know what those goods were at this point, but I’m guessing it wasn’t weed).
What happened next was textbook in terms of robbing a drug dealer. Dittmeyer was called to Petelis’ house and, before she could even get inside, Anthony Papile, 28, came out of nowhere and cracked her in the head with a rubber bat. The two men then bound her with duct tape, stuffed her in the trunk of her own car and, well, you know what happened from there. Authorities aren’t saying whether or not she was still alive when she was submerged. Let’s hope not. Trevor Ferguson, 23, then drove Papile home in exchange for drugs and cash.…

Burien, WA – I love it when criminals are also morons. 17-year-old Chris Lito, a student at my alma mater, Highline High School, is one such moron, thankfully. I still live here and shudder at the thought of this creep wandering our streets.
It was about 1:00 in the afternoon when the 16 year old victim was making her way to the local transit center. As she passed through an alley (directly behind the last house I rented!), she was reportedly accosted by Lito, who promptly dragged her into a secluded stairway. Police say he then began viciously beating her. When beating her didn’t work, he choked her until blackout. When choking her didn’t work, he threatened her with a brick he had picked up, holding it over her head. All the while, this sick fuck was trying to force her pants down as she struggled.
But this tenacious young gal wasn’t about to go out like that. Despite the violent assault she was suffering, she still managed to get out a scream that was loud enough to cause Lito to drop the brick and run.…

Minnesota - It takes a particularly vile creature to do what 48 year old William Melchert-Dinkel is guilty of. Spending his days trolling internet forums for suicidal people, this former nurse and opportunistic scumbag would then pose as a female nurse, pretending to be sympathetic before giving step-by-step instructions on how to successfully kill oneself.
Sometimes, he would even enter into suicide pacts with these people, pacts that were obviously and unfortunately unfulfilled on his end.
While it’s unclear exactly how many people were persuaded into taking the final leap by this man, at least two followed through on their threats after having contact with him.
In 2005, a 32 year old British man had been seeking drugs online to overdose with when he encountered Melchert-Dinkel, and ultimately hung himself. In 2008, Melchert-Dinkel found an 18 year old woman who had recently miscarried and was drinking excessively; she jumped from a bridge.
For his part in these deaths, Melchert-Dinkel has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after Judge Thomas Neuville found him guilty of two counts of aiding the suicides.…

Scranton, PA - For years, Luzerne County’s juvenile justice system was a hot mess and one man, Judge Mark Ciavarella Jr., was largely responsible for creating it.
In 2009, investigators claimed this juvenile court judge was doing the unthinkable – sentencing hundreds of kids who should have gone home with mom and dad to hard time instead… in return for monetary kickbacks from the owner of the local for-profit juvenile incarceration facility. The scandal, perhaps the worst in judicial history, was termed “Kids for Cash” and, on Feb. 19th, ex-judge Ciavarella was finally convicted for his part in it.
The investigation began back in 2007, after pleas for help came flooding into the Philadelphia-based Juvenile Law Center from kids who felt they got the shit end of the stick during sentencing. Lawyers from the law center petitioned the Supreme Court of PA for relief on behalf of these kids, citing insufficient defense. The petition fell on deaf ears, however, until it was reconsidered in 2009 for some strange reason.
Okay, so the reason wasn’t all that strange – charges of corruption against the judge had surfaced and the IRS got involved.…
Continue ReadingMiddleton, Wisconsin – I can see it now: You are 6-years-old and Daddy got drunk again and beat mom to a bloody pulp. Blue and Red lights are flashing through the windows, and cops are swarming throughout the house. Mommy is being carted away on a stretcher as she chokes on her own teeth, her face swollen beyond recognition while Daddy, who was Tazed in the kitchen earlier, is currently hogtied and screaming in the back of a patrol car. It’s at this point you are approached by an officer who is handing you something. “It’s gonna be ok sweetie,” he says, “cuddle with this copy of Green Eggs and Ham.”…
Continue Reading…and, according to Chris Pesto, it ain’t the woman in the corduroy skirt. On November 18th, the unfortunately dressed woman, Michelle Defario, and her father, Jim, headed up to Syracuse University to preach some hate. See, Michelle and Jim belong to an organization called the Open-Air Complainers, er… I mean, “Campaigners”, an Evangelical group that spews their ignorance in public places. Initially, they went generally unheeded. But that was until Chris, a junior drama major, and all around rockstar, noticed them after leaving voice lessons. “I decided that because this woman thought it was okay to make me feel uncomfortable in my home, I would retaliate and make her feel just as uncomfortable, if not more,” Chris recalled in a statement. So he grabbed some poster board, a couple of markers and went to town. It wasn’t long until he attracted the kind of crowd Michelle and Jim only hoped to attract. People were asking for pictures with him, honking their horns in support – some even showed up with counter protest signs of their own.…
Continue Reading“Faith healing.” A goddamn oxymoron, if you ask me. Over the last couple of decades, it is estimated that hundreds of children have met their demise due to such practices. Despite this, as many as 30 states have legislation exempting parents who neglect their children by failing to seek medical treatment for them on religious grounds. This legislation, much of which was instituted back in the 1970s, has been tested in recent years, resulting in a handful of states repealing the laws and others yet scaling it back in cases of criminal mistreatment and manslaughter. But these are empty gestures if recent sentencing in faith healing cases is any measure.…
