MUSKEGON, MI – Police say an 8-year-old girl is suspected in the death of a 1-year-old boy that was left unsupervised in a home day care.

When Bryanna Reasonover arrived at the Keysha Keepers home day care to pick up her four children early Friday morning, she immediately noticed something was wrong with her 1-year-old.

“I picked Korey up and I’m thinking he’s asleep and then his face tilts over,” Reasonover said. “I’m saying ‘What’s wrong with my baby’s face?’ I’m thinking he’s still asleep.”

She also noticed teeth marks and bruises on the boy’s face as he was taken to the bedroom of the home’s owner, Keysha Collins. CPR was performed as someone called 911, but Korey never regained consciousness and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

According to Reasonover’s 6-year-old daughter, the children had been left unsupervised for a couple of hours and that Korey had been crying. The homeowner’s 8-year-old daughter decided to take care of the situation and put Korey in a closet and, according to Reasonover’s daughter, Korey was bleeding.

Someone else at the day care later placed him in the playpen where his mother found him when she arrived to pick up the children. Police believe that whatever the 8-year-old girl did to stop Korey from crying is what ultimately lead to his death. The only witness they have at the moment is a 5-year-old.

Investigators are waiting on Korey’s autopsy report to find out the cause of death, and are looking into claims the children had been left unsupervised for a prolonged amount of time. The 8-year-old was taken to a hospital for a mental evaluation.
