RALEIGH, NC – Police say a man who broke into the apartment of his ex-girlfriend was arrested after a man inside fed him a piece of firewood.

According to police, 27-year-old Matthew Bergstedt kicked in the back door of his former girlfriend’s apartment for reasons not currently being reported.

Unfortunately for Bergstedt, his face met a piece of firewood swung by a 20-year-old man who was inside the apartment.

After being turned into a panda, Bergstedt fled the apartment and broke into an empty apartment in the same complex.

Police responding to a burglary call at the apartment complex apprehended Bergstedt and booked him into the Wake County Jail on charges of breaking and entering and attempted breaking and entering.

He has since been released after posting a $3,000 bond.

Bergstedt should count himself lucky. Sure he looks hilarious, but as we have reported numerous times before, he could have gotten his ass shot. Or, like what happened with another intruder earlier this year, had his hand chopped off with a machete.
