On Nov 10, a family stepped outside of their home to investigate what their dog was barking at.
That’s when 56-year-old Leonard Trevino emerged from his hiding space under a flight of stairs armed with a handgun.
Trevino, who is a suspect in a child indecency charge involving the family, demanded he be let into the home.
Despite Trevino brandishing a firearm, the mother and son refused to let him in. Trevino said he was going to kill the boy and began beating him in the head with a pipe.
During this assault, the mom maced Trevino and her son managed to get the gun away from Trevino and used it to shoot the man once in the face.
Trevino was taken to the hospital for treatment and has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
He was initially arrested on a felony charge of indecency with a child by exposure in July of last year, with a trial date set for next month. If convicted on these new charges, he’s looking at 20 years in prison.Tags: Assault, Crime, Leonard Trevino, Sex Offender, Shooting, Texas
